Chapter 110

A bizarre silence fell over the table.

Zhuang Fan stiffly turned his head to meet Wu Buyu’s gaze. It was a meeting of the ages: one with genuine Social Anxiety and one with fake Social Anxiety.

Wu Buyu gave a faint smile. “Don’t worry. From now on, I’ll say everything you can’t.”

Zhuang Fan: “…”

-There were some things he didn’t really want said at all.

Zhuang Fan’s ears turned bright red, and he felt like curling his toes into the floor.

Wu Buyu’s smile grew even more radiant as he patted Zhuang Fan’s shoulder. “Don’t be shy. Don’t curse me in your head, either. And definitely don’t freak out about what everyone thinks of you. Relax, I’m here. I’ll tell you exactly what everyone is thinking about you.”

Zhuang Fan: “…………”

Wu Buyu’s eyes crinkled with amusement.

-Only those who have stood in the rain know how to rip away someone else’s umbrella.

-Once social death happens a few more times, you get used to it.

Jiang Yu’s lips twitched. “One who says everything and one who can’t say anything… you two really are a perfect match.”

Ji Yani added, “It’s a good thing the Verbal Spell Ability didn’t end up with Wu Buyu. With how much he talks, who knows what would happen every day.”

Did Supernatural Abilities actually choose their hosts?

A chatterbox with a Verbal Spell Ability would surely cause disasters. On the other hand, a stutterer… was very safe?

Sheng An swallowed her porridge and looked at Zhuang Fan.

“You should still try to speak more,” she said. “The doctors said your condition is difficult to treat, but there are only benefits to trying to talk and using your Supernatural Ability.”

Zhuang Fan nodded. “Mm.”

Wu Buyu translated: “He says he’s very embarrassed. Every time he starts stuttering, he wants to stop talking. It’s not that he’s insecure; he just feels like everyone is staring at him, waiting for him to finish a sentence. That focused attention makes him incredibly uncomfortable. His reluctance to speak isn’t just because of the stutter; even if he didn’t stutter, he wouldn’t want to talk. He wishes everyone would ignore him and stop looking at him.”

Zhuang Fan: “.”

Li Wanyun had a strange expression on her face. “You want people to ignore you? You walk around all day with that aloof, ‘number one in the world’ face. How can anyone not notice you?”

Not only did they notice him, they all wanted to punch him.

Zhuang Fan: “..”

Wu Buyu translated again: “He says, ‘Huh? How could that be?’ He’s just keeping his Silence; how is that being aloof? He just wants to be background noise. Why would everyone notice him? Oh no, does that mean everyone is speculating about him? How awkward.”

Zhuang Fan: “…”

Liu Yue spoke up. “The cold, arrogant face and the overbearing attitude you’re showing right now are worlds apart from your inner thoughts. Wu Buyu, you’re not just making this up, are you?”

Wu Buyu was ready to swear an oath. “How is that possible? These really are his inner thoughts!”

Pausing for a moment, he continued to translate: “His heart is very restless right now. He’s having a breakdown. Now that we’ve seen through to the truth, he wants to go crazy. He wants to lash out.”

Everyone turned in unison to look at Zhuang Fan.

Zhuang Fan: “…”

-I want to kill this mind-reader!

Wu Buyu was about to speak again when the members of Group A arrived.

As soon as he saw them, Lou Mingwei burst out laughing. “Hahahaha! This is killing me! You worked so hard to snatch back a Verbal Spell Ability User, and he turns out to be a stutterer!”

Clearly, they had received the news. Correspondingly, Group B was also aware of Jiang Ling’s situation.

Long Tianyu’s face instantly darkened.

He glared at Lou Mingwei with a chilling, sinister look. “So what? He’s still a Verbal Spell Ability User. Lou Mingwei, are you looking for a fight?”

He clenched his hands into fists.
Lou Mingwei’s eyes widened as he pointed at Long Tianyu. “You want to hit me? Look at your own face first! Hahaha! Did you get beaten up because you tried to snatch the wrong person? That’s hilarious!”

Long Tianyu stood up, looking ready to throw a punch.

Sheng An glanced at him, and Long Tianyu gritted his teeth before sitting back down.

Sheng An then turned her gaze toward Lou Mingwei and said calmly, “And who was it that hit your face?”

Lou Mingwei: “…”

That one sentence made his face turn green with frustration.

Gu Qiansheng gave a small smile. “I believe it was Jiang Ling, the new member of your team?”

He looked toward Jiang Ling. “Nice work. This guy was asking for it. Feel free to hit him whenever; the higher-ups won’t say a word.”

Jiang Ling brushed her hair back and returned the smile. “I thought so too.”

Lou Mingwei: “…”

He bared his teeth in anger, but looking at Gu Qiansheng and then at Jiang Ling, he could only swallow his rage.

Dammit, he couldn’t afford to provoke either of them.

As for Sheng An?

She was even more untouchable.

Looking for a softer target, Lou Mingwei turned to Zhuang Fan and sneered, “So you’re a stutterer? No wonder you were speaking one word at a time earlier. I thought you were just playing the ‘cool and aloof’ type, but it turns out… Hahaha! Hey, little stutterer, come on, say something for us?”

Zhuang Fan turned his head to look at him.

The fury that had been building up in his chest seemed to find an outlet in an instant.

Wu Buyu suddenly scrambled backward.

Zhuang Fan: “Get-out!”

That roar of pure frustration carried an endless surge of energy, making it feel as if the entire cafeteria shook.

In the next second, Lou Mingwei was launched like a ball, vanishing from everyone’s sight.

“Aaaaahhh-”

The scream grew more distant until it faded away completely.

That day, everyone in the Core Shelter saw a person fly through the air in a massive arc, crashing down somewhere far out of sight.

Ke Jiaxue swallowed hard and murmured, “He must have been blown right out of the residential area, right?”

In an instant, everyone looked at Zhuang Fan with eyes full of awe and fear.

Even Wu Buyu behaved himself, sitting back in his seat and lowering his head, quietly playing dead.

-It didn’t matter if the guy was a stutterer or not.

Holy crap, that ability was terrifying!

Not just Group B, but even the members of Group A settled down, quietly eating their meals nearby.

The entire cafeteria became unprecedentedly quiet.

Zhuang Fan’s face was a bit pale. He took a deep breath, lowered his head, and continued eating in silence.

He still maintained that arrogant, aloof expression that made people want to punch him.

But this time, no one dared to say a word.

Sheng An remained composed. Having finished her meal, she wiped the corners of her mouth and prepared to leave.

Her communicator vibrated; a message had arrived.

Hao Jingye stuffed the rest of a bun into his mouth, swallowed it, and said quickly, “Time to get to work. The psychological profile is out. Take a look.”

He propped up his tablet and opened the processed image for everyone to see.

Song Linwei thought to himself, *Even though the two new teammates are quite eccentric, their abilities are truly unique…*

Perhaps snatching these two wasn’t a bad thing after all, he mused. Prophecy and Word Spirit possessed undeniable utility and lethality.

With that thought, he looked at the image.

Rather than a drawing, it was more like a processed “photo” that perfectly reconstructed the scene.

Everyone who saw the photo froze.

Jiang Yu’s mouth fell open.

She looked back and forth between the image and Sheng An in disbelief.

Sheng An pursed her lips. Her expression remained calm, but her eyes were like bottomless pits.
