Chapter 133

Sheng An and Qi Lingwu were the first to reach the kitchen. Long Tianyu followed with Gu Qiansheng, and Ji Yani with Li Wanyun, followed by the others who arrived one after another.

Everyone was waiting to catch the Thief, so their reactions were naturally swift.

The kitchen was a mess.

Cabbage leaves had been torn apart and strewn across the floor, as if one could feel the rage of the creature that had thrown them.

Sheng An and Qi Lingwu were crouching on the ground, seemingly rummaging through something.

“What happened?”

“Did that Thief show up?!”

Long Tianyu and Li Wanyun spoke in unison.

Song Linwei sighed. “They likely appeared, but we just didn’t catch them.”

Gu Qiansheng frowned and shook his head. “I used my Supernatural Ability. If the Thief isn’t stronger than me, then their power is unique, and my ability is useless against them.”

Everyone’s heart sank.

Li Wanyun had rushed over so quickly yet still failed to catch them; how could she not be angry?

She was fuming. “Damn it, who exactly is it? This is a blatant provocation. First stealing things, then using my towel, and now they’re starting to cause chaos…”

She turned to look at Wu Buyu, gritting her teeth. “Use your Mind Reading to screen everyone one by one. We’ll check everyone in the Core Shelter!”

Hearing this, Wu Buyu shook his head. “I won’t find them.”

He pointed to their surroundings. “The doors and windows are all closed. Sister Sheng and Qi Dui reacted fast enough, yet they still didn’t catch them. This means the Thief is most likely still in the villa, but we simply can’t see them. Screening is useless.”

Zhuang Fan: “Mm.”

Wu Buyu translated: “He says that based on his years of creative experience, that fellow is incredibly arrogant. They must still be inside the villa, and moreover, it’s highly likely they’ve been here the whole time.”

“What do you mean?” Li Xin asked, puzzled.

Gu Qiansheng took a deep breath and slowly uttered a sentence that made everyone’s skin crawl:

“-The Thief might have been in the villa all along, not just yesterday and today.”

As the words fell, Ji Yani and several others rubbed their arms.

Long Tianyu: “I’ve got goosebumps. This is too terrifying!”

Li Xin: “Is it invisibility?”

Song Linwei looked at Sheng An and Qi Lingwu. They were wearing gloves and were examining the shredded cabbage leaves piece by piece.

He was somewhat confused but continued his analysis. “It might be related, but my gut tells me it’s not ordinary invisibility. Otherwise, why couldn’t Qi Dui and Ruan Zifeng find them? It’s truly strange.”

Ji Yani sighed and said worriedly, “How on earth can we find them? Just the thought of someone living inside the villa while we can’t see them makes my skin crawl.”

She looked around, feeling that everything looked slightly off, making her scalp tingle.

Old Man Qin huddled behind Li Xin, clutching Qin Xuan.

Li Xin rolled his eyes and ignored them, frowning. “They’re very powerful. Whether it’s a unique Supernatural Ability or they’re just strong themselves, they’ll be hard to deal with.”

They couldn’t see the person, yet the other party could appear silently beside them. If the person held a knife, wouldn’t they be able to easily slit their throats?

At this thought, Long Tianyu and the others subconsciously touched their necks.

Li Wanyun was furious but helpless, her energy flagging. “Fuck, I didn’t expect that even after awakening a Supernatural Ability more powerful than in my Previous Life and gathering so many experts, there would still be someone we can’t handle.”

Old Man Qin spoke up gloomily, “It might not be a person…”

Everyone looked at him in unison, their eyes filled with suspicion.

Song Linwei: “What do you mean?”

Did this old man know something?

Old Man Qin looked terrified. “Maybe it’s a ghost? A villa haunting… how about we move somewhere else?”

Everyone: “…” They simultaneously looked away, their expressions full of disdain.

Song Linwei looked back at Sheng An, becoming increasingly curious. Just as he was about to speak-

Qi Lingwu suddenly looked up, holding up a leaf. “Found it.”

Sheng An also had a piece in her hand. Hearing him, she immediately looked over and smiled. “That’s enough.”

Li Wanyun was bewildered. “What does that mean?”

Long Tianyu was equally confused. “What are you two even doing? Did that person touch the cabbage? What of theirs are you looking for?”

What could they possibly find in a pile of cabbage?

Sheng An stood up and glanced at him. Though she didn’t speak, Long Tianyu vividly felt his intelligence being insulted…
Hao Jingye entered from outside, bundled up tightly and drenched in sweat. His tone was urgent.

“Sister Sheng, it’s ready.”

Sheng An handed him a transparent bag containing two leaves, her expression calm.

“Send these for a DNA test.”

Everyone: “??”

Sheng An looked at them and gave a slight smile. “Who says there are no clues? Have a little faith in the power of technology.”

She hadn’t planned on catching the fellow directly from the start. If it were that easy to catch, it wouldn’t have stayed hidden for so many days.

No matter what it was, it had to eat.

She had cleared out all the food in the villa, leaving only a pile of raw cabbage that the intruder likely wouldn’t want to eat. As long as the intruder got angry and messed with the cabbage, they would leave a trace.

Perhaps it was because they were so angry that the intruder seemed to have bitten the leaves…

That was perfect. Exactly what it was would be clear very soon.

She hoped her guess was correct.

Everyone: “???”

-Damn, you can even do it like that!

Hao Jingye placed the bag into a briefcase and hurried out again.

Sheng An checked the time and tilted her chin up. “There’s still an hour before wake-up time. Get some more sleep. There’s a lot to do today.”

With that, she turned and left.

Qi Lingwu followed silently, unnoticed by the others.

The group remained in a daze, staring blankly at the shredded leaves on the floor.

Li Wanyun swallowed hard. “Can we really find them after a DNA test?”

Ji Yani asked, “Are you doubting Sister Sheng?”

Li Wanyun: “…”

She turned to leave. “I’m going to sleep! Once we catch that pervert, I’m going to give him a piece of my mind.” If it was a guy, she’d castrate him!

Now that Sheng An had made her move, whoever it was likely wouldn’t be able to escape.

Better get some sleep first.

The others headed back to their rooms. As Long Tianyu passed a room on the second floor, he paused, seeing the door slightly ajar.

He pushed the door open gently. On the bed inside, the quilt was folded into a neat, sharp square-a ‘tofu block’-without a single wrinkle. It looked as though no one had lived there at all.

Long Tianyu was puzzled. “Where’s Qi Lingwu?”

They had all gotten up so hurriedly just now; how did he have time to fold his quilt?

Wu Buyu walked past and spoke in a low, eerie voice, “Maybe he went to protect Sister Sheng.”

Long Tianyu: “???”

As if realizing something, he gritted his teeth. “When did that guy go?!”

Didn’t they all return to their own rooms yesterday?

Besides, Sheng An didn’t need Qi Lingwu’s protection. Even if she did, his Supernatural Ability was long-range; there was no need for him to guard her so closely!

Li Wanyun looked at him with disdain. “You’re just salty.”

She shook her head. “You’re a single dog; what the hell do you know?”

Long Tianyu: “…”

It wasn’t until Li Wanyun had walked away that he snapped back to his senses and cursed, “Aren’t you a single dog too? We’re a pack of single dogs, who are you to look down on me!”

He stood there, fuming.

Should he…

Go knock on the door?

Just as the thought crossed his mind, he felt as if he were being locked onto by something…

Long Tianyu silently retreated to his room.

Sheng An wanted results, and the Research Institute provided feedback quickly.

In just an hour, as the sun began to set and everyone was gradually waking up, the report was sent to Sheng An’s communicator.

Her eyes flickered as she sent a few messages to Hao Jingye-

[Bring some things over…]

When she stepped out of her room, the others were just getting up.

Li Wanyun was the earliest. As soon as she saw Sheng An, she immediately pressed, “How is it? Are there results?”

Long Tianyu looked at Sheng An, then at Qi Lingwu, who had just come out of his own room… his gaze was suspicious.

Qi Lingwu met his gaze expressionlessly.

When their eyes met, Long Tianyu silently looked away and turned to Sheng An, speaking solemnly, “Is it some kind of pervert? Why else would they hide and steal people’s towels?”

If it were a decent person, they would have just joined the Apocalypse Special Affairs Department.

Why would they skulk around in the shadows?

Sheng An shook her head.

A smile played on her lips, and her voice was light. “No, it’s not a person.”

“Huh?” Everyone was bewildered.

Hao Jingye walked in quickly. Sheng An reached out and took the bags he was carrying, taking the items out one by one and arranging them on the floor until they formed a small pile.
