Chapter 184

It was a group of a dozen or so people.

Not exactly a small number, but compared to Sheng An’s massive team of several hundred, they hardly looked like much.

Those dozen people were even more shocked than they were. They stood not far away, staring in disbelief as the enormous team drove toward them.

The vehicles stopped nearby, and Sheng An led her people forward.

Once she got a clear look at them, her brows drew together slightly.

These people looked no different from refugees.

Their clothes were tattered, their bodies thin and dark from hardship. Old scars marked their skin, and the way they stared at Sheng An’s group was guarded and wary, like frightened birds ready to bolt at any second.

Aside from them, two people lay on a trailer, eyes tightly shut, faces blackened. Their condition looked very bad.

“Who are you?” the young man at the front asked, his voice hoarse.

Hao Jingye froze, then instinctively looked toward Sheng An.

This was the first time they had run into people who… didn’t recognize them.

“Apocalypse Special Affairs Department. Sheng An.” Sheng An’s tone was the same as always, firm and powerful.

The dozen or so people paused.

One of them murmured, “That name sounds familiar…”

Li Xin and the others were even more astonished.

These people still hadn’t remembered who they were?

Had they not watched the National Announcement Briefing back then?

That shouldn’t be possible. Even if they hadn’t watched it, they should at least have heard of it, right? It hadn’t even been that long, and these people couldn’t remember at all?

Ji Yani’s brows were tightly furrowed.

The Southwest really was a strange place.

Sheng An, however, paid it no mind. She simply said, “We came in from outside. We are people of the Nation. Can you tell me who you are, and what the current situation in the Southwest is?”

The man at the front shifted his eyes.

His gaze fixed on Qin Xuan, who was being held by Old Man Qin… or rather, on the candy in Qin Xuan’s hand.

Swallowing, he said, “We can tell you, but you have to trade food for it!”

His eyes flickered slightly.

This group had come in from outside? Was the situation outside good?

But now wasn’t the time to think about that. Just by looking at this huge Convoy and these healthy, rosy-faced people, it was obvious they weren’t lacking food or Supplies…

As soon as he finished speaking, Hao Jingye and the others all frowned.

Sheng An remained very calm. She neither agreed nor refused, only said, “We are people of the Nation. The Nation sent us into the Southwest Region to check on your situation and bring Supplies as support. You don’t need to trade information for it. We will give it to you.”

She turned to Zhang Kun. “Give them food, water, and clothing.”

Zhang Kun immediately took them out from his Space Ability.

But those people had already frozen in place, standing there in a daze.

There was actually a Space Ability user!

After a long moment, someone looked at the things on the ground, then looked back at Sheng An…

She stood at the front of the team, upright and righteous. Qi Lingwu and the others at her side carried that same upright aura-the proper bearing of people who served the Nation.

Among the dozen or so people, someone couldn’t hold back anymore. They pounced forward, grabbed the food, and began wolfing it down without the slightest restraint.

Li Xin felt a little awful. In a low voice, he murmured, “How did it turn into this? Didn’t the Southwest have stockpiles? How did it become like this?”

Jiang Yu shook her head and didn’t answer.

Whatever had happened in the Southwest, these people should be able to tell them.

They devoured the food ravenously and ate a great deal in one go, but they didn’t ask for water. Sheng An kept watching them closely and discovered that there were two Water Ability User individuals among them providing water.

And their levels were not low.

The others also seemed to possess Supernatural Ability.

These people ate as if they had been starving for a very long time. They could eat a shocking amount, and even when they were clearly full, they kept stuffing food into their mouths.

However much they ate, Zhang Kun took out just as much.

Seeing this, the man who had spoken first finally stopped.

He lifted his head, confused. “Are you really people of the Nation? The Nation still exists?”

Qi Lingwu frowned.

Not out of displeasure, but bewilderment. It had only been so long, and things had already reached the point where people were questioning whether the Nation still existed?

Without the slightest hesitation, Sheng An nodded firmly. “Yes. We are people of the Nation, and the Nation still exists.”

Before the man could speak, a woman behind him suddenly burst into tears, aggrieved. “Why did you only come now-”

In truth, after the Apocalypse began, once they had resolved the troubles in Jing City, they had rushed here without stopping. It was only because the journey was too long, with all sorts of complications along the way, that they had been delayed for some time.

They had already done everything they could.

Even so, Sheng An still comforted her. “I’m sorry. We’re late.”

The man at the front also began to cry, wailing loudly, deeply aggrieved.

But as he cried, he still told them quite a bit of information.

The man at the front was named Miao Yuan. They lived in an underground cave not far from here. Usually, they traded water for food at the Southwest Market up ahead. Recently, people in their group had fallen ill after being poisoned by Miasma-the old man and the young person lying there.
The old man was their core figure, and his Supernatural Ability was highly unusual.

The younger one was even humanity’s hope.

That was why Miao Yuan and the others had to save them.

“We don’t have much food, so we can’t trade for Medicines. We could only bring two Water Ability User with us, draw water on-site to exchange for food, then use the food to buy Medicines,” Miao Yuan said with a sigh.

Sheng An gestured for the two of them to be taken for treatment.

Miao Yuan was still a little wary at first.

But when he saw the people getting out of the vehicles were in uniform, and several doctors in white coats came straight down from the medical vehicle, he finally stepped aside.

Liu Yue muttered, “These people are way too cautious…”

Cautious to the point of being like startled birds.

Just what had the Southwest been through?

The two were carried into the medical vehicle. Before long, someone came down and reported, “They were only poisoned by Miasma. We can treat it, but it will take some time before they wake up.”

Miao Yuan’s eyes lit up, and he thanked them again and again. “Thank you, thank you!”

Sheng An shook her head. “It’s nothing.”

Then she asked, “So you were going to buy Medicines. Why bring the patients with you?”

It could not have been convenient to take those two out.

Miao Yuan let out a long sigh. “To be honest, Medicines don’t work that well. What we really wanted this time was to beg the God of Light to save them. As long as he’s willing to help, they’ll definitely be fine. But too many people go to beg the God of Light. We might not even get a place in line. And if we stay outside too long, we’re also afraid of running into other dangers.”

The sigh on his face turned into a smile, and he looked genuinely happy. “Our luck is really good. We ran into you before we even went to beg the God of Light.”

“God of Light?” Wu Buyu’s expression turned strange.

Miao Yuan nodded. “That’s right. The God of Light lives in Southwest Market. A lot of people go to beg him to save their lives. He’s incredibly powerful. With just a lift of his hand, he can cure any illness.

“And the God of Light isn’t afraid of Miasma poison. It’s because of him that there’s less Miasma in Southwest Market, and that we’re able to survive. He also-”

Once this man started praising the “God of Light,” there was no end to it.

Li Xin’s mouth twitched as he said in disgust, “God of Light? Who gave him that nickname?”

Hearing the dissatisfaction in his tone, Miao Yuan became a little unhappy. “The God of Light is the God of Light. He has the power of the God of Light, so why can’t he be called God? You’d better not disrespect the God of Light. Otherwise, if you get hurt, the God of Light won’t care about you.”

Everyone: “…”

Hao Jingye had a bad feeling. For some reason, he found this person’s style-even the title-very familiar…

Everyone turned in unison to look at Long Tianyu.

Long Tianyu: “?”

He nearly jumped. “Why are you looking at me? That God of Light or whatever is way crazier than I am!”

Back then, he had merely called himself the Ghost King. This guy had gone straight to calling himself the “God of Light.”

Sheng An was even more speechless.

She exchanged a glance with Qi Lingwu, her face full of helplessness.

-Great. This “God of Light” was exactly the same type as the members of Group B.

Li Wanyun also had a bad feeling and asked tentatively, “The God of Light… who is he?”

Before Miao Yuan could answer,

Hao Jingye pushed up his glasses and said expressionlessly, “The Southwest’s Healing Type Superpower User.”

Everyone: “…………”

In that instant, everyone fell as silent as if they had been hit by Gu Qiansheng’s Silence.

Sheng An took a deep breath, calmed herself down, and slowly said, “It’s fine. As long as he’s still alive, that’s enough. Everything else can wait until we meet him.”

What kind of weirdo had she not seen before?

Shi Xiao herself, the fifty-billion-at-the-start guy, Iron Man out to save the world, the Ghost King, Mind Reading, the tyrant bro… Their team had every species imaginable.

Adding a “God of Light” would not feel out of place.

Miao Yuan noticed their dismissive attitude toward the “God of Light” and added, “The God of Light’s combat strength is average, but there are countless powerful people who are Superpower User around him. These past two years, around him-”

Sheng An’s eyes sharpened, and she abruptly looked at him. “What did you say? Two years?”

Hao Jingye sucked in a cold breath.

Qi Lingwu stepped forward, his gaze sharp. “What time is it now? How long has it been since the Apocalypse began?”

Miao Yuan looked blank. “I don’t know the exact date either.”

With so many people staring at him, he swallowed. “But a while ago, Second Uncle counted on his fingers and said the Apocalypse had already passed two years and was about to enter the third year. If you calculate it, we should already be in Apocalypse Year Three…”

As his words fell, the whole group looked as if they had been struck over the head with a club, their faces blank.

Even Sheng An swayed, gripping Qi Lingwu’s wrist tightly before she barely managed to steady herself.

It was actually Apocalypse Year Three!
