Chapter 196

Sheng An calmly looked away, not surprised in the slightest.

After surviving in the Apocalypse for more than two years and still managing to eat himself this fat, it was obvious just how much this guy loved food.

Song Linwei rubbed his chin. “Why is the Miasma concentration getting stronger each time?”

Hao Jingye sighed. “It may have something to do with Time. If the reason we can’t get out of the Southwest Mystery is that we haven’t completed the Time span, then the greater the Time gap becomes, the harder it is to cross it. Naturally, the concentration would rise as well.”

Sheng An murmured, “Time span…”

She lifted her head and looked at Qi Lingwu. “Then bring it along too.”

“Who?” Jia Guangliang asked curiously.

Qi Lingwu nodded, then looked at Jiang Yu together with Sheng An.

Jiang Yu understood and quickly fished a certain little fellow out of her Space Ability.

It seemed to have been sleeping. After Jiang Yu brought it out, it landed on the floor, stretched its two front paws forward, arched its back in a lazy stretch, then shook out its fur.

-Shan Hua!

How could Group B set out without it?

Jia Guangliang was startled. “You even bring pets when you go out? How relaxed are you people? And isn’t a Space Ability user unable to store living things? Where did it pop out from?”

He reached out, wanting to pet the cat.

However, his hand touched nothing.

Jia Guangliang froze.

Shan Hua raised a paw and swatted the back of his hand.

“Ah-” Jia Guangliang cried out. When he looked at the back of his hand again, several bloody scratches had already been left there.

Of course, in the next instant, under the effect of his Supernatural Ability, they healed as if nothing had happened.

Jia Guangliang’s face filled with horror.

What the hell was this?

Why couldn’t he touch it, while it could scratch him?!

Jia Guangliang abruptly retreated, stammering, “Th-th-this cat… You people can see this cat, right?!”

Shan Hua rolled its eyes, then padded over with a leisurely catwalk and hopped onto Sheng An’s shoulder.

Sheng An stroked its head and said blandly, “Allow me to introduce Shan Hua, one of the members of the Apocalypse Special Affairs Department and your teammate.”

Jia Guangliang swallowed. “A Mutant capable of complete beast transformation?”

Sheng An smiled. “No. Just a cat.”

Jia Guangliang: “…”

-It really was the Apocalypse. All kinds of bizarre things existed now.

He swallowed again. “Your Apocalypse Special Affairs Department’s Group B… every member is weirder than the last.”

A whole bunch of oddballs was one thing, but there was actually a cat too.

Not a pet cat. A member.

“Of course.” Hao Jingye pushed up his glasses. “Otherwise, how would you be one of us? Right, Divine Lord?”

Jia Guangliang: “…”

Sheng An took a deep breath and stood. “Rest up. We set out first thing tomorrow morning. Make sure you recover properly today.”

At that, the others nodded and all stood up, each heading off to find a room to rest in.

Jia Guangliang murmured, “That fast?”

Outside, it was only Apocalypse Month Three, yet these people were already this efficient and coordinated. The Southwest had been through two years, but when it came to team operations, they still couldn’t compare to them.

Was this the difference between them and the Nation team?

Before, Jia Guangliang had not believed they could find a solution. But at this moment, a thought actually rose in his mind-

Perhaps they really could break through the Southwest Mystery?

The thought had only just appeared when he let out a long sigh and shook his head.

It was too late. If the Southwest were still in Apocalypse Month Three, then their arrival would have been immensely meaningful. But now, it was already Apocalypse Year Three. Many things were already too late.

After finishing his meal, he set down his bowl and chopsticks and prepared to return to his room to sleep.

However-

Jia Guangliang roared, “This is my room!!”

Long Tianyu sent him flying out with a lash and cursed, “Sleep or don’t, I don’t care. Shut the hell up!”
Jia Guangliang ground his teeth. In the end, he could only crawl inside with a pitiful, aggrieved look and sleep on the floor mat, cursing under his breath, “Bastard. Just you wait. When you get hurt and come begging me-”

“Are you going to sleep or not?” Gu Qiansheng sat up and said coldly.

Jia Guangliang pressed his lips together, shut his eyes, and lay perfectly still.
Dawn was just beginning to break.

Sheng An was already standing outside the castle. She looked up at the clock hanging above it. The hands were moving normally, and there was no visible difference between the Time in the Southwest and the outside world.

She stood quietly below.

Soft footsteps sounded. Qi Lingwu appeared at her side. He said nothing, simply standing with her in silence.

After a while, she suddenly said, “Whether you can leave the Southwest or not, safety comes first. Come back as soon as possible.”

“All right.” Qi Lingwu nodded and looked at her. “Shan Hua didn’t find anything unusual?”

Sheng An shook her head.

A Calico Cat ran in from outside, wiped its paws, and leaped onto her shoulder.

Sheng An reached up and scratched its chin.

Her tone was calm. “Shan Hua is still a cat, after all. It has an extremely strong rapport with us, but it still can’t fully express what it means. Besides, its ability is to slip out through a Loophole. Searching for a Loophole may actually be harder for it.”

She wanted it to find the Southwest’s Loophole, but they had no leads at all.

All they could do was try to see if it could slip out through a Loophole and leave the Southwest successfully.

Qi Lingwu frowned. “What are you worried about?”

Bringing Shan Hua out early in the morning and standing quietly outside the castle was not merely an Investigation into whether there was a Loophole. Qi Lingwu understood her. Sheng An was worried about something.

Sheng An tilted her head back, the back of her skull resting against Qi Lingwu’s arm, her eyes fixed tightly on the clock.

Her voice was soft. “Don’t you think… the Southwest is like one enormous Blood Pool? Countless vanished Fragments, and the blood of ninety-nine percent of the dead, seem to be nourishing something, isolating the entire Southwest from the rest of the world.”

Qi Lingwu’s heart tightened.

Sheng An turned her head. She seemed to be drawing close to him, their lips and breath almost touching, her voice extremely low-

“I don’t believe in mystery or metaphysics. I only believe in conspiracy and calculation.”

Qi Lingwu wrapped his arms around her. His breathing roughened; in that lingering closeness, his hoarse voice brushed past her ear. “What do we do?”

Sheng An hugged him back, her voice fading to almost nothing.

Shan Hua lifted its head to look at the sky.

The sky was not yet fully bright. It was only a couple being “intimate,” that was all.
Seven o’clock in the morning.

Qi Lingwu set out with five people and one cat.

Seven-Star King’s Anchor Qi Lingwu, Six-Star Flash Step Ability user Long Tianyu, Six-Star Space Ability user Li Wanyun, Six-Star mutated birdman Wu Buyu, Six-Star Metal Element Superpower User Li Xin, the Healing Type Superpower User Jia Guangliang who was about to reach Five-Star, and Rule Loophole Shan Hua.

Even in the Apocalypse Special Affairs Department, this was the most elite team.

The vehicle sped away along the road they had come from and quickly disappeared.

Jiang Yu looked in the direction they had vanished, worry in her voice. “Can they get out smoothly?”

Hao Jingye shook his head. “I don’t know, but I hope they can.”

Gu Qiansheng and the others looked just as worried.

Sheng An took a deep breath, withdrew her gaze, rolled her neck, and said slowly, “We’ll split into two groups. They’re going to challenge the Southwest Poisonous Miasma. It’s time for us to do what we need to do.”

In an instant, everyone grew solemn and looked at her.

Hao Jingye pushed up his glasses and handed over a document. “Sister Sheng, we finished compiling the full list of Superpower User at the Southwest Market last night and completed their Supernatural Ability testing as well. Here is their information.”

Sheng An took it. “Then we’ll act in groups and comb through the entire Southwest!”

If they turned over every inch of the Southwest, would they still find nothing?

Sheng An’s eyes were cold.
