Chapter 213

How could this be a draw?

Liu Miao and Cheng Bairuo were dead. Ninety-nine percent of the people in the Southwest were dead. This had never been a fair ending!

The opponent she was playing against was not only the Time Aberrant, but M hidden behind it.

If she could not even kill this Time Aberrant, how could she possibly deal with M?

She had already come this far.

There was no way she could announce a halt now. Only two outcomes could end this.

Either she died, or the Time Aberrant died.

In that instant, Sheng An seemed to change.

The aura around her sharpened. Something seemed to roil within her body. Against her even paler face and the greater amount of blood spilling from the corner of her mouth, her eyes grew firmer, keener.

Around her, Time stirred restlessly, faintly warping space.

Shadow paused. The eyes hidden beneath the cloak revealed surprise and a trace of fear, but when it spoke again, its voice remained calm and confident-

“Sheng An, there is no Supernatural Ability left in your body. If you overdraw yourself again, you will die…”

The last three words carried a smile, as if it were enjoying the show.

Jiang Yu was frightened and worried.

Qi Dui’s fate was unknown, and Sister Sheng seemed to be doing something extremely dangerous again…

Beside her, Hao Jingye’s brows were locked tight, his expression anxious. “Sheng An! You can’t overdraw your Supernatural Ability. Stop, now!”

Sheng An was different from everyone else. If she overdrew her Supernatural Ability, the already cracked earth would become even more ruined. Shadow was right-she would die!

Sheng An did not stop.

She closed her eyes, trying to control that faint energy, trying to mobilize her own Supernatural Ability. She wanted to truly use it once, not just passively trigger it without even knowing what her Supernatural Ability was.

Her body grew hotter and hotter. Large beads of sweat broke out across her forehead.

Jiang Yu and the others were so anxious their faces turned white.

Shadow was still gloating. “Sheng An, your Supernatural Ability can’t do it. Why seek death? Wouldn’t it be better for us to coexist in peace? Why insist on dragging us both down? Oh, no-you die, while I won’t be dragged down at all.”

Sheng An ignored it.

She was sensing her Supernatural Ability, maintaining her standing posture. One hand gripped Shadow tightly. Even in this crisis, she would not give Shadow a chance to escape!

Her other hand rested behind her back as she stood in silence.

Just a little more.

As long as she had just a little more energy!

It was then-

Song Linwei suddenly shouted, “Sister Sheng, we’re here!”

He felt an unimaginably massive surge of energy leap from Gu Qiansheng’s body into his own. In an instant, his body swelled like a balloon, nearly bursting apart.

But he reacted quickly, channeling that endless torrent of energy entirely into Sheng An.

“Bang-”

Gu Qiansheng’s face went utterly bloodless, and he toppled straight down, his voice weak. “You damn near drained me to death… huh?”

As soon as the words left his mouth, he completely passed out.

Song Linwei was just as pale as paper. “…Sorry. First time doing this. I couldn’t… control it.”

Then his eyes rolled back, and he collapsed as well.

Jia Guangliang immediately rushed over. After checking them, he let out a breath of relief. “They’re fine. They just overdrew their Supernatural Abilities. Their lives aren’t in danger.”

He looked a little lost. “What did those two do?”

Hao Jingye exhaled. “Song Linwei moved all the energy from Gu Qiansheng’s five-star Supernatural Ability into Sister Sheng.”

His eyes remained fixed on Sheng An, his expression uneasy.

-Had Song Linwei’s experiment just succeeded?

Sheng An’s eyes remained closed.

She seemed to glimpse, faintly and hazily, a clock. Three hands of different lengths rotated across its face, sometimes slowly, sometimes quickly. She could not make out the markings.

And yet, she could sense them with incomparable clarity.

Sheng An slowly opened her eyes.

“Whoosh!”

The spatial distortion caused by the fluctuations of Time around them grew increasingly obvious. Everyone could see it now: the space around her and the Time Aberrant was trembling, and both of their figures had become somewhat blurred.

No one saw that behind her, a white clock had appeared. Its hands were trembling. When she looked toward the Mutant Plant, the clock extended a massive white hand…

And forcefully thrust it into the distorted fissure!
Jing City.

Qiu Yu hurried to the Meteorite Research Institute.

The Chief Base Commander, Elder Zhang, Elder Li, Academician He, and the others were all there.
Qiu Yu raised her hand in salute, then looked puzzled. “What happened?”

Elder Zhang’s expression was grave. He sighed softly and gestured for Academician He to speak.

Academician He swiped the screen and showed Qiu Yu the information on it, his face solemn.

“The situation in the Southwest is far worse than we imagined. When Team Leader Sheng entered the Southwest, she brought a communications vehicle and Wan Yuan with her. The vehicle was equipped with the Nation’s most advanced communication equipment, and Wan Yuan should have a way to transmit signals to the outside world in any kind of shielding environment.”

It did not necessarily have to transmit a message. Even a searchable signal would do, no matter how brief.

But…

Qiu Yu took a step forward. “They entered the Southwest and lost contact completely too?!”

Before they entered the Southwest, the Nation still had signal vehicles waiting at the Southwest border to receive them. It was such a short distance. How could they become completely untraceable?

What was going on in the Southwest?!

Academician He nodded. “They’ve lost contact. And we also detected the existence of something…”

His voice was very quiet, but from the grim expressions on their faces, Qiu Yu sensed something ominous. She opened her mouth, and only after a long while did she manage to ask, “What?”

Elder Zhang sighed and swiped to the next page on the screen. It was a pitch-black image, like a distorted vortex.

Qiu Yu was confused.

Academician He said, “After the Apocalypse, almost all satellites were destroyed, but Country Y had one military satellite that barely survived. Five hours ago, the people at the Research Institute finally managed to establish contact with it through the collapsing Magnetic Field. Through it, we obtained a photo of the Southwest…”

After the National Announcement Briefing, their Nation had become the “Ark,” the land of hope in the Apocalypse. Scientists from various countries had brought their nations’ research results and information into the country for refuge, so they could conduct research together.

And while Sheng An and the others fought on the front lines, the scientists at the Research Institute had not been idle. They had all been hard at work.

That was why they knew about this satellite, and why they were able to obtain this photograph.

“This is… the Southwest?” Qiu Yu could hardly believe it.

But Academician He nodded. “Yes. This is the Southwest. Viewed from the outside, the Southwest looks like a distorted vortex in this world riddled with holes. Perhaps it could also be called – a Wormhole.”

“A Wormhole?” Qiu Yu murmured.

She was also someone the Nation had secretly trained, so she knew what those words meant.

Academician He said, “Yes. We suspect the reason the Southwest can’t be contacted is because there is a Time difference. It’s also possible the entire Southwest has entered another realm of Space Ability.”

Whether it was another realm of Space Ability or another Time, it was horrifying to even hear.

The Chief Base Commander took a deep breath, then said, “Academician He informed us just now, and informed you, because the vortex in the Southwest is trembling… The Research Institute suspects that Team Leader Sheng and the others have encountered an enormous crisis.”

Qiu Yu barely hesitated. She raised her hand in salute-

“Reporting! I request permission to go to the Southwest!”
The Southwest.

Apocalypse Month Three had collapsed. Did that mean the Time Aberrant had no weakness?

Not necessarily.

Because the Mutant Plant was still there.

One leaf of the Mutant Plant existed in “Apocalypse Year Three,” while another leaf existed in “Apocalypse Month Three.” Time had always been a mysterious thing. Since half of it was still on the other side, how could Apocalypse Month Three simply cease to exist?

-As long as it was still there, Apocalypse Month Three still existed.

Even if it had collapsed, it still existed.

It held itself up in the gap between the two Times, leaving Sheng An a passage to thrust her hand into “Apocalypse Month Three.”

And then-

Sheng An began to pluck at Time.

Gu Qiansheng’s energy was enormous. Although it still could not compare to the Time Aberrant’s, it was enough to turn Time back to the recent past.

They were not far from the moment they had found the Time Aberrant.

Shadow’s expression finally changed completely!

Its arm strained as Shadow tried to break free of Sheng An, but she kept her grip locked tightly around its wrist, like a shackle. No matter how it struggled, it could not pull away.

Shadow’s gaze sharpened.

It activated its Time Ability, tangling with Sheng An.

A surge of energy and a single hand battled within the gap, churning the other already-collapsing Time into utter chaos.

The Mutant Houttuynia trembled.

-It wanted so badly to run.

But behind it, that man was gripping its roots. It couldn’t escape.
