Everyone: “…”

For a moment, everyone felt choked, inexplicably speechless.

Seriously, even listening to Mind Reading could get you shown up.

Long Tianyu and Li Wanyun had just wanted to speak, but Qi Lingwu swept his gaze over them, eyes calm and unruffled, yet sending chills down their spines.

It was as if anyone who dared to speak would be killed on the spot.

Wu Buyu’s social death was self-inflicted collapse.

Qi Dui’s social death was very much about taking others down with him.

The two instinctively shut their mouths.

No one else dared to laugh at Qi Dui.

Only Sheng An dared to laugh openly, leaving Qi Lingwu utterly helpless.

He tossed Wu Buyu to Yu Feng, telling him to take him back.

As for himself, he walked out of the main hall hand in hand with Sheng An, heading toward the temple gates.

Once they left, the previously silent crowd finally found their voices.

Li Xin said speechlessly, “I really didn’t expect Qi Dui to be like this…”

Jiang Yu ignored him, covering her face, eyes sparkling: “Ah, this is so shippable!”

Ke Jiaxue nodded vigorously, also covering her face:

“I declare, from now on, I’m only shipping this CP!”

Isn’t this sweeter than all those fake on-screen CPs and real ones just playing along?

Ke Jiaxue’s expression was radiant.

Jiang Yu grabbed her hand, silently squealing together.

From today on, they’re besties again!

-As long as you ship the same CP as me, you’re my sister from another mister.

Long Tianyu rolled his eyes, scoffing, “What’s there to be proud of? If Qi Lingwu’s so great, let him awaken an ability!”

“Say that to his face if you dare.” Li Wanyun retorted expressionlessly. “And where was he being proud? Sister Sheng and Qi Dui are a natural pair. Jealousy won’t help you.”

Long Tianyu: “…”

He gritted his teeth, “What’s it to you? Don’t think I don’t know you’re cursing me in your head again? Still want to kill me? Keep dreaming.”

“Didn’t you curse me? Always want me to take the fall for you. If it weren’t for Wu Buyu’s Mind Reading, no one would know how much of a jerk you are. Are you even a man?”

“And you’re a woman? Look at yourself…”

The two bickered back and forth.

From mutual dislike to personal attacks, they nearly came to blows, arguing incessantly.

Hao Jingye looked at the tall and short figures of Sheng An and Qi Lingwu, then at Jiang Yu and Ke Jiaxue squealing over their CP, and finally at Long Tianyu and Li Wanyun who were about to start a fight…

He exchanged a helpless glance with Song Linwei.

-What kind of people are these!

Leaving the temple.

Everyone was in good spirits, even Long Tianyu and Li Wanyun had stopped arguing.

It was a rare full-team action for Group B.

Whether it was watching Wu Buyu’s antics on the road, listening to his solo “stand-up” in the temple, or witnessing his social death at the end, it was all quite entertaining.

Jiang Yu said, “If only we could have team-building like this more often.”

Hao Jingye sighed deeply, voice somber: “I’m afraid that’s difficult. The apocalypse is in 11 days-no, after tonight, 10 days.”

Peaceful days may never return.

Sheng An glanced back at the temple under renovation, her eyes fathomless.

Qi Lingwu followed her gaze.

As if knowing what she was thinking, he tightened his grip on her hand, his voice gentle: “Even after destruction, there can be rebuilding. As long as humanity exists, civilization and hope remain.”

Sheng An smiled softly.

Yes, as long as humanity exists, so do civilization and hope.

-And she, along with all of them, were striving for that.
Song Linwei was a researcher who had never believed in ghosts or gods, but this was the first time he sincerely prayed in front of a temple:

“If gods or Buddhas truly exist, I hope they will bless us with safety, bless humanity, and bless this world.”

Wan Yuan let out a breath.

He murmured, “Maybe gods and Buddhas really do exist. Aren’t they?”

They – Reborn Persons and early-awakened Superpower Users.

Long Tianyu lifted his chin and said, “So if gods really exist, then we’re the ones chosen by them. Are we really Chosen Sons? Hahaha!”

He laughed out loud.

Li Wanyun, for once, nodded in agreement.

Upon hearing this, Sheng An looked at them and smiled.

Long Tianyu puffed out his chest. “What? Realizing now how extraordinary I am?”

“Yes, I know you’re extraordinary,” Sheng An replied.

She beamed. “So, dear Chosen Sons and Chosen Daughters, please try to recall the exact identities of the two Psychic Ability Users you mentioned before. And think again – are there any other Psychic Ability Users or high-level Superpower Users? Make a list of them all.”

The two of them: “??”

They’d let their guard down!

They’d casually mentioned Psychic Ability Users earlier, never expecting Sheng An would ask for specifics.

Weren’t they just making trouble for themselves now?

Long Tianyu pulled a long face.

“I really can’t remember. I only met a Psychic Ability User once. She passed by our base, and all I know is others called her Ms. Xu. That’s all I know!”

Li Wanyun nodded. “I only heard about her, and she was a Superpower User from the north. I never even met her!”

She was speechless. “Besides, they might not have awakened before the Apocalypse. What’s the point of remembering?”

Sheng An, uncharacteristically serious, said, “Psychic Abilities are very special. They might have an even greater role to play. It doesn’t matter if they haven’t awakened yet; we can pay attention to them in advance. Think carefully.”

The two of them paused.

Psychic Abilities might play an even greater role?

In the end, reason won out. They nodded and began to recall the powerful figures from their past lives, especially those with Psychic Abilities.

*

Apocalypse countdown: 10 days.

After a good night’s sleep, Wu Buyu woke up to find it was already the next morning.

He was a bit dazed, looking around in confusion.

It was a very nice suite – simple yet elegant decor, warm and cozy. He lay in a comfortable bed, the room was quiet, and the morning sun streamed through the window, bathing everything in a gentle peace.

Where was this?

Soon, his memories returned.

He’d gone to the temple, let loose inside, ended up with more than a dozen onlookers; they’d heard what he said, seen what he did, and Sheng An had invited him to join…

Remembering it all again, a wave of embarrassment crashed over him.

He didn’t even bother thinking about how he’d fainted, his toes curling with shame.

The suite only had one bedroom and a living room, but to him it felt fit for a villa!

“Aaaah-”

Wu Buyu hugged the blanket, rolling back and forth on the bed, screaming.

A voice called from outside the door:

“Wu Buyu? If you’re awake, come out.”

It was Sheng An!

Wu Buyu buried his head in the pillow, refusing to come out.

Plagued by social anxiety and embarrassment, he didn’t want to leave the room.

But he wasn’t given any time to think.

The next second, the door swung open with a bang.

“Stop pretending to be dead. Let’s go,” Sheng An said calmly.

She watched as Qi Lingwu picked Wu Buyu up from the bed and dragged him out.

There was a hint of personal grudge in the gesture.
