Why Is Mr. Handsome Always Angry? - Chapter 8
Life had finally come for this adorable little girl.
Seven or eight times, too.
In the familiar warehouse, tied to the pillar, I glared at Mr. Handsome through gritted teeth.
“Zhi… Zhi… Zhi what was it?” I decided not to compromise this time. “Look over there! Your mom’s spinning her hands so fast she’s helicoptering up to heaven!”
Hahaha. Didn’t see that coming, did you? I, Xu Hansan, was dead again.
I recalled the lessons we’d studied as children: brave men with righteousness in their hearts who refused to bow to dark forces, even with death all but certain.
Their fearlessness could move heaven and earth. Future generations should learn from them.
I thought I could do it too.
So I stared down the black muzzle and shouted heroically, “If you’re going to kill me, I’ll get on my knees and beg you right now!”
I discovered that Mr. Handsome really was susceptible to soft words, never force.
As long as I begged, he truly didn’t kill me.
“Have you decided what you’re going to do?” he abruptly asked while untying me from behind. It made no sense.
“I know, I know! Apologize to Huaming!”
He pressed his lips together. “That works too.”
Once again, I was in his passenger seat.
What had he meant by “That works too”?
I frowned in thought. Then I got it. He meant we could do other things as well.
“Perhaps…” I decided to follow my heart. “We could go eat crayfish?”
It was my unfulfilled wish from two lifetimes ago!
“…”
Looking at the seat I had dampened with drool, he finally compromised. “There aren’t any nearby.”
“No, that bright red shop looks exactly like it sells crayfish!”
“That’s a foot massage place.”
Table flip! Why was even this coming back around?
At the hospital, I apologized to Huaming again. Her gaze was a little strange.
I panicked a little. Unlike last time, her eyes had clung to me since I entered the ward, filled with something I couldn’t name. Even her words of forgiveness came out haltingly.
I hurriedly dragged Mr. Handsome out.
“Keep an eye on Huaming,” I whispered furtively into his ear.
He gave me a puzzled look. I had no intention of explaining.
I didn’t want to hurt his pride.
I had to admit he possessed a lovely exterior, but it was clearly still a long way from my beauty.
If I told him Huaming seemed to have fallen in love with me, wouldn’t that be a terrible blow?
But this was absolutely not my fault.
Blame my irrepressible charm.
Mr. Handsome was a time bomb. I had to get away from him.
Besides, I had conquered Huaming now too. If his jealousy erupted, he would surely kill me at any moment to shut me up.
I carefully reviewed my memories.
Then, without another word, I charged into the men’s bathroom, ready to select a lucky contestant at random. Who would it be?
I hoisted the mop by the sink and expertly mashed its strands into the other man’s face.
Sorry, brother.
I prepared for a barrage of insults and blows. Instead, he grabbed me in a hug.
Fuck. Which school of martial arts taught that secret move?
“Xu Ye! I never thought I’d see you here!” He released me and spoke warmly. “What, that guy finally let you out?”
Huh?
Had I met someone I knew?
I blinked dumbly, unsure what to do with the mop in my hands.
“What’s wrong with you? Hey, why did you hit me with a mop just now?” He wiped the dirty water off his face in disgust.
“Well… Actually, I saw a mosquito on your face, so I was doing you a little favor.” I delivered that nonsense with a perfectly straight face.
“Xu Ye, you’re acting strange. Don’t you recognize me? It’s Xiao Shima!” He looked me up and down oddly.
“Of course I know you! You’re Xiao Shima! How could I forget?” I laughed it off.
Like hell I knew him.
Xiao Shima and I emerged from the bathroom with our arms around each other’s shoulders like old pals—and ran straight into Mr. Handsome.
His piercing, naked gaze made me uncomfortable all over. “Why are you coming out of the men’s bathroom?”
I covered my face in anguish. “If you had even the slightest sexual interest in my body, you’d have realized I’m actually a man.”
“Then why is he here too?” His face darkened, and his cold gaze fell on Xiao Shima.
“He went to the bathroom with me, obviously,” I answered without thinking.
“…”
He didn’t believe me.
Alas. This society suffered from a lack of trust between people.
He seized my hand and yanked me back from Xiao Shima’s side.
“Xu Ye,” he murmured darkly in my ear, “I’ve warned you many times. Don’t test my limits.”
He squeezed my right hand tighter and tighter. It hurt so much I nearly cried for my mother.
What limits?
Wincing, I pulled my hand free and studied Mr. Handsome and Xiao Shima exchanging looks before me.
Ah. I’d been hasty.
I sighed. “Sorry. I didn’t realize you two were in that sort of relationship. I’ll never bother you again.”
With that, I turned away, leaving behind the resolute, wounded silhouette of a romance-drama heroine.
I got dragged back.
Mr. Handsome glared at me furiously. “Where are you trying to run now?”
“Into your heart?” Suspecting a test of my cheesy pickup lines, I gave a tentative answer.
He ignored it, his expression grim. “You said you wanted to apologize. Was that just an excuse to see Xiao Shima?”
I realized he was on the verge of exploding.
“Coincidence! All coincidence!” I lunged forward, took his hand, and spoke with utmost sincerity. “If I’d known he would be here, I wouldn’t have used the men’s bathroom on this floor even if you beat me to death!”
His expression improved instantly. He was clearly pleased with my answer.
“I would’ve used the one upstairs,” I specifically added.
“…”
Mr. Handsome closed his hand around mine and drew me against him. Looking at the astonished Xiao Shima, he said, “Treasure the time you have.”
Mr. Handsome often made odd statements like this. I was used to them.
Xiao Shima seemed amused. Ignoring his words, he addressed me with keen interest instead. “Little Xu Ye, don’t forget our agreement.”
