Chapter 3

“So that was your blind date?”

After I watched my blind date leave, the male ghost suddenly spoke up behind me.

I nearly jumped out of my skin.

“He looked pretty good. Still nowhere near me, though.”

I opened the door and humored him at the same time.

“Yes, yes. If you hadn’t died young, the people chasing after you could’ve wrapped around the equator.”

“That’s a bit much. But I really did get a lot of love letters back then.”

My curiosity was piqued. “Then when you dated, was it your girlfriend who chased you?”

“Oh, no.”

He thought it over. “Hmm… She was too slow on the uptake. Ridiculously dense. I chased her.”

“Hm? Then what did you like about her?”

“Let me think… It must’ve been her beauty.”

I was speechless.

So you were a weirdo too.

But I didn’t dare say that out loud.

He grew a little more serious. “Kidding. It really was love at first sight. A little cliche.”

There was a faint smile on his face, and his whole being seemed to radiate quiet happiness.

“But later, I realized she gave me something emotionally that no one else could. They were things I could do with other people too, but only when I did them with her did they feel different. It was like… there were a lot of magnetic fields around me, but only with her was there gravity.”

“I really liked the way she looked when she smiled. I didn’t like it much when she cried.”

“But actually, when she cried, it moved me even more.”

“So many people don’t cherish the love they’ve already gotten, yet they can live to a ripe old age and spend their whole lives treating feelings carelessly. I treasured every moment I had with her, but I didn’t get to live very long. Fate really does know how to toy with people.”

“If I were still alive, maybe our kid would already be old enough to run errands for soy sauce. Haha.”

By the end, he was trying to keep the mood from getting too sentimental.

I sat on the sofa and looked at his soft cheeks in the sunlight. Something in my heart suddenly softened.

I said, “You must have loved her very much.”

“Ah… Not that much, really. Isn’t dating just like that? It’s all more or less the same.”

Was it?

I didn’t think every guy was like him.

“Oh, come on. You’ll understand once you date that blind date of yours for a while.”

As he spoke, he quickly turned around and started rummaging through the desserts I’d brought home.

Chapter 6

I asked him if he wanted to go to the jewelry store now.

He waved me off. “Forget it. It’s already this late. We’ll go tomorrow.”

I thought about it and decided that was fine. There was no rush.

The current situation was that the handsome male ghost was like a tenant living in my home. Except he was a little different from an ordinary tenant.

He didn’t need a room. He could lie down anywhere and sleep.

There was no need to worry about the floor being too damp, or the sofa being too soft and giving him a slipped disc, and definitely no need to worry about him waking up with a stiff neck.

Still, in the spirit of basic humanitarianism, I gave him the second bedroom.

I had also asked him, “Do you need to sleep?”

He told me it didn’t really matter whether he slept or not, but he had been a ghost for several years and still couldn’t shake the habits he’d had when he was human. Once it got dark, he liked burrowing into bed.

I said, “Burrowing into bed is good. Beds are comfy.”

But that night, after I finished work and came out of my room to get some water, I found him asleep with the TV on and the lights off.

The only sound in the living room was the low volume of the television. The screen was very bright, casting a bluish glow over the translucent figure on the sofa.

I took the remote from his hand and turned off the TV.

Looking closely, this male ghost was handsome in just the right way.

He was tall, but not skinny like a bamboo pole.

He had good features, and his handsomeness wasn’t the aggressive kind. It was calm and refined.

Broad shoulders, long legs. Even the strands of hair falling over his lashes carried a vividness that made him strangely pleasing to look at.

He would definitely look good in a suit.

Before I knew it, I bent down and carefully brushed my fingers over his brow bone.

The moment I realized what I was doing, a chill abruptly ran down my back.

This face was obviously so unfamiliar, yet the motion came so naturally to me, as if I’d done it countless times before.

I lowered my head close to his ear and asked softly, “What’s your name?”

He was sleeping deeply and didn’t answer me.
