Chapter 3

“Shen… Shen Xu’an?”

Who’s that.

My mind went blank for a moment. “Didn’t you say you differentiated into an Omega yourself?”

“…”

Shen Xuzhou fell silent, his light brown eyes swirling with gloom.

I frowned. “Three nights ago, you came running to me in the rain, drenched, and that’s exactly what you said.”

Hearing that, his eyes froze, and he turned his head away, muttering a low curse. “…Damn it.”

His inexplicable attitude annoyed me, and I forcefully pried his hand off my chin:

“If you’ve lost your mind, don’t take it out on me. If you don’t want to get back together, just say so. No need to make up a person’s name to slander me.”

What an attitude.

Before, after he differentiated, he came knocking on my door in the rain, crying and gasping, begging me to love him.

But a few days later, he puts on this fierce act and says things I don’t understand.

“Just pretend I was never here today.” I turned to leave, not wanting to argue with a mad dog anymore.

Rip.

He grabbed the hem of my clothes.

I couldn’t break free, so I turned my head and glared at him-

The warm sunset light slanted over Shen Xuzhou’s bold and refined face.

His lips were pressed together, brows tightly furrowed, his whole aura exuding a suppressed gloom.

“Li Song.”

The way he called my name was unusually shaky, mixed with gritted-teeth anger and remorse:

“Shen Xu’an is my twin brother. He’s an Omega. That night, it was him who came to see you.”

“That bastard impersonated me and deceived you.”
?

What-?!
“That damn kid… that bastard… how dare he!”

Shen Xuzhou’s voice practically squeezed through his teeth. His chest heaved rapidly, fists clenched, veins bulging on his solid arms.

I had never seen him so enraged.

But I was also furious, and speechless, and bewildered.

It felt like one of those old-timey novels where an honest person gets played by the twin young masters.

I grabbed Shen Xuzhou’s collar and cursed: “Is your brother crazy? Why would he come to me?! I don’t even know him!”

Shen Xuzhou, under my interrogation, bit his lip tightly, his chest calming a bit under my gaze.

His domineering light-brown eyes turned deep, his lashes fluttering.

“I don’t know.”

“You don’t know? So it was you two playing me all along?”

I was so angry that I clenched my fist and pounded his chest.

His solid pecs were tense from anger, rock-hard.

I didn’t hold back; Shen Xuzhou’s brow furrowed slightly at the hit.

He let out a muffled grunt, head lowered, not dodging at all.

My hand hurt from the punch, but my mind suddenly went blank.

I realized, Shen Xuzhou and his brother could actually be told apart.

That person who embraced me, sobbing and panting in the rainy night three days ago, was indeed more slender and delicate compared to Shen Xuzhou now.

“Li Song.” He called again.

As if suddenly figuring something out.

His dull eyes suddenly lit up.

He took my hand and pressed it against his chest, letting me feel the pounding heartbeat.

“So you mistakenly thought he was me and marked him?”

“From beginning to end, you only care about me, right?”

Pathetically pitiful.

His tone carried a hidden plea and obsession.

As if as long as I nod, everything could be forgiven.

…

I nodded.

Shen Xuzhou’s fingertips brushed over the back of my hand.

His bangs hid his expression.

“Don’t worry, I’ll properly teach that shameless bastard a lesson.”

“And,” he added, “I’m sorry.”

My mind was still reeling from the news; I looked at him wearily: “Oh, I’m going back.”

“Wait…”

Shen Xuzhou deliberately softened his voice to stop me.

“I haven’t differentiated into an Omega, so does what you said about getting back together still count?”

Me: “Who said getting back together is a dog?”

The sunset was like fire.

His eyes stared straight at me, but the corners of his lips curled into a roguish smile.

“Woof woof.”

That uniquely suffocating peach blossom scent of his surged out from his body again, swirling around, overwhelmingly cloying.

Like a mad dog wagging its tail.

I was suddenly provoked by this fellow Alpha’s pheromones, my blood rushing, and I let out a soft laugh.

“Your brother also said you were a dog that night.”

Those words were both provocative and shameless.

After all, he was the one who was so fierce when he misunderstood me earlier.

I looked up, and sure enough, Shen Xuzhou’s face darkened, a fierce look appearing.

I raised an eyebrow at him, and he lowered his head.

Biting my lips viciously.

But his voice was muffled, like a coquettish plea.

“Don’t ever mention him in front of me again.”

He tilted his head, sucking the faint bloody taste from my lips, his fingers threading into my hair.

“Don’t abandon me, please.”

When he pulled away, he let out a low gasp, the tip of his tongue licking away the remaining wetness on his lips.

His eyes rarely looked misty, and for a moment, I wavered, reminded of that night’s person.

“You hate my pheromones, right? Then I’ll hold back.”

He pretended to be fierce as he threatened me.

“What he can do, I can do too. Come on, make me cry.”

“Mark me… make that impostor give up once and for all.”
