After a Thug Transmigrated into a BL Novel - Chapter 3
Shithead Chen was the type to bully the weak and fear the strong.
His father had spent a few years as Bincheng’s deputy county magistrate before being sacked for accepting bribes.
But even a starved camel was bigger than a horse.
His father shielded him, and supposedly, some local tyrant higher up did too.
Shithead Chen had gotten full of himself.
He’d gathered a gang in the class and built his reputation by digging into other people’s sore spots.
His favorite target was Jiang Jibai.
And me.
“Hey, Yue Zhou.” Shithead Chen deliberately raised his lazy drawl so the whole class could hear.
“Your eyes are practically glued to our genius Jiang all day long. What, have a crush on him?”
The room immediately erupted in laughter.
That only spurred him on.
“To be fair, our genius Jiang is pretty damn hot. I hear he sneaks off to a nightclub at night and makes money as a rent boy.”
“If you want a taste, just tell me. I’ll scrape together some pocket change and make sure you get your wish!”
The class was always eager for a spectacle. They laughed and whistled.
Mocking gazes flicked between Jiang Jibai and me.
I wasn’t angry.
Words this harmless were like feathers.
They drifted against me, then fell away.
I stood and headed for the door, but Shithead Chen stuck one foot in my path.
He lowered his voice.
“Who the fuck do you think you’re fooling with that act? I looked you up. You’re some bastard transfer from out of town. Heard both your parents are dead?”
“Maybe your fate’s so hard you curse everyone around you. Better keep your distance from us.”
The languor vanished from my face.
“Your name’s Chen Dazhi, right?”
He lunged at me with his fist raised. “You’re fucking doing that on purpose, aren’t you…?!”
“Chen Daqiang!” Old Yao came over carrying a thick ruler.
“What are you doing now?! Trying to hit someone again? What’s everyone crowding around for? Break it up!”
He rammed his shoulder into me and muttered a threat.
“Just you fucking wait.”
How interesting.
Every last one of them loved telling people to wait.
Too bad I wasn’t patient.
I cornered him as soon as school let out.
Bincheng’s old alleys were cold and damp.
Most of the streetlights were broken, warping people’s shadows into strange shapes.
Shithead Chen wandered in with a cigarette to take a piss.
The moment he unzipped his pants, I kicked him flat.
He covered his bloodied nose, scrambled up, and cursed.
“Who the fuck are you?! I’ll fuck your mother…!”
I kicked him into the wall again, and he curled up like a shrimp, clutching his stomach in agony.
I casually picked his cigarette up from the ground.
I grabbed him by the hair.
“Shh. Don’t make a sound.”
The glowing-hot ember was less than an inch from his eyelashes.
Shithead Chen finally knew fear. His voice trembled.
“Yue Zhou! What are you trying to do? Don’t you know murder is against the law…?!”
“I know.” I drew out the words, utterly unconcerned.
“It wouldn’t be my first time killing someone.”
His face went deathly pale in an instant.
Verbal abuse, false accusations, and brawls were all commonplace in Bincheng.
But murder was different.
It was the kind of thing that destroyed your future.
The wind rustled through the alley. A cat cried out from somewhere unseen.
It was as if some ghostly shadow were hiding in the darkness, watching us.
I lowered my voice and spoke gently.
“You know, I once beat someone into the hospital. Later, I decided that wasn’t satisfying enough, so after he got out, I stabbed him.”
“You and I aren’t the same. You have a reason to stay alive. I don’t. So remember this, and stop showing your face around me.”
I straightened and crushed the cigarette butt beneath my toe.
“And one more thing. If I ever hear you running your filthy mouth about Jiang Jibai again, just try me.”
After that day, Shithead Chen still strutted around, throwing his weight about, but he restrained himself considerably.
I kept watching Jiang Jibai every day too.
The peaceful days didn’t last long. Shithead Chen dropped out.
The rot from his father’s old bribery case hadn’t been cleaned up completely.
Someone reported it, and the authorities froze his accounts and launched a thorough investigation.
His involvement with a girl in the second year also came to light.
Apparently, a letter and the evidence had been mailed straight to his house, and his mother received them in person.
I had the system pull up the contents of the letter.
The handwriting was sharp and forceful, and its tone was asking for a beating.
Wind poured through the window, sending the battered textbooks fluttering.
Even in September, Bincheng was oppressively hot.
The ceiling fan creaked overhead like a cheap lullaby.
Most of the class lay collapsed over their desks.
Only one person kept his back perfectly straight.
I tossed a ball of paper at him.
【You’re pretty devious, you little brat.】
He tossed it back almost immediately.
【Learned it from you, dumbass.】
