When the students upstairs shouted, “I love you,” Qin Xian merely laughed it off with a trace of helplessness. But when this bizarre Student Council President said the same thing…

Goose bumps rose all over him.

Not that he was unfamiliar with perverts like this. He had met plenty in the Infinite Flow World. With a face like his, there had even been dungeon bosses who tried to seduce him in person.

Of course, every last one of them had ended up skewered.

“Teacher, you’re looking at me so fiercely~”

Qin Xian ignored him and turned straight to Officer Zhang. “How many of you came in? Four monsters appeared, and three are still out there. Where else in the school are large numbers of students gathered?”

“Just call me Zhang Min,” the officer replied. “I don’t know how many people got in either. Most of the seniors are concentrated in this building, but some classes might be out on the field for PE. When I came over, two of my colleagues were heading that way. A monster probably appeared there.”

Judging by the number of students, however, there was a good chance a second monster would appear near the teaching building. There might be only one on the field…

The real problem was whether any students were wandering around outside. To a monster, a lone student was practically a snack delivering itself to the door.

Zhang Min frowned. “Why don’t I look around for anyone still outside?”

“Find the monsters first.”

Qin Xian raised his chin slightly. Golden light bloomed in his pupils, spreading until it filled his irises.

The entire school turned dim and sinister in his sight. Black mist, each wisp representing a degree of corruption, drifted everywhere. It was thickest in several places: one near the field, another near the cafeteria, and one more…

Qin Xian snapped to attention. “One’s on the field, one’s in the cafeteria, and the last one is almost here! Over there!”

He pointed toward Class 2203, the classroom in the middle of the first floor.

Zhang Min raised his nail gun and sprinted toward it.

With his long strides, Qin Xian quickly overtook him. Before he turned away, however, his golden eyes deliberately swept across the spot where the Student Council President had been standing.

The thing was already gone.

So much for getting a look at its true form. He had kept Insight active for too long already; if he waited any longer, the backlash would interfere with his fighting.

Qin Xian blinked. The gold vanished in an instant.

By then, Zhang Min had reached the classroom door and was shouting for the students inside to evacuate.

“Come out in an orderly line, just like during a fire drill, and head upstairs! Clear the classrooms in the middle of the second floor and move to either side!”

The students panicked at first, but several of them stepped forward of their own accord. They calmed their classmates, then remained at the rear to maintain order.

“Good work!” Zhang Min called.

Qin Xian stood still, his attention fixed on the floor.

A faint tremor ran through it. The vibration moved from the forecourt into the corridor, growing stronger by the second.

Something was about to burst out of the ground.

“Everyone, run to the sides!” Qin Xian shouted.

The students froze. They were just starting to flee when the violent shaking threw several of them off their feet.

Qin Xian rushed forward. Out of the corner of his eye, he spotted the Student Council President, who had vanished moments ago, lounging against the wall outside the neighboring classroom to enjoy the show.

Rather than save the students one at a time, he might as well make use of this game-breaking tool.

Qin Xian abruptly changed direction and charged at him.

The president blinked, then opened his arms as if waiting for an embrace.

Qin Xian grabbed him by the collar instead and hurled him straight toward the densest cluster of students.

The tremors beneath them halted for a fraction of a second. Then they changed course and raced toward Qin Xian, who was now standing alone.

Rumble—

Gravel sprayed through a cloud of ocher dust as a huge black head emerged from the broken concrete.

No. Not one head.

Several.

They had powerful mandibles and two nimble feelers.

Ants. An entire swarm of them!

They were ordinary ants magnified a hundred times, each more than a meter long, and they kept pouring out of the cracks in the ground.

Zhang Min smashed one ant’s head open and swore. “Fuck! Didn’t they say there were four monsters? This counts as one of the four?!”

The ants scattered the moment they reached the surface and rushed at the fleeing students. Individually, they were easy enough to deal with. None was especially strong. But with so many of them, two people could never kill them all—or save all the students.

Qin Xian’s face darkened.

The solution itself was obvious. An ant colony obeyed its queen, so the “monster” among the four did not refer to these workers, but to their queen.

Kill the queen, and in all likelihood, they would defeat the monster.

The problem was that an ant queen would never come aboveground, and none of them could burrow down there to attack her.

This might well be the most troublesome of the four monsters. The queen lurking underground could not be killed, while an endless stream of workers would create endless trouble. If ordinary people faced this situation, avoiding casualties would be impossible.

But Qin Xian was here.

He kicked away the nearest ant and snapped his right hand outward. A long black whip appeared in his grip.

He had not intended to resort to this method so soon, but right now, he was the only person who could wipe out the mutated nest quickly.

With a soft hiss, a wisp of Blue Flame ignited at the whip’s slender tip. It burned with an almost serene beauty.

Standing steadily amid the chaotic crowd, the Student Council President blinked. A greedy light entered his eyes as he watched the flame.

Qin Xian did not notice. He flicked the whip, and the Blue Flame caught on several nearby ants, spreading across them in an instant. Their six legs curled inward in agony as they rolled wildly over the ground.

But the blue fire did not go out. Their thrashing only spread it to more ants. Before long, flames had engulfed more than half the swarm, and a blue inferno blazed in front of the teaching building.

Zhang Min found himself trapped by the fire and nearly despaired—until he realized the flames somehow distinguished friend from foe. Even when Blue Flame wrapped around his entire body, he felt no pain.

He turned to look for Qin Xian, only to find that Qin Xian had already disappeared. All that remained was fire racing across the ground. Some burning ants carried it back underground, until blue light began pulsing through the cracks themselves.

Qin Xian did not look well. The moment he left the teaching building, he ran straight for the field. Now that he had already used this move, he might as well take out as many enemies as possible before his time ran out.

Students were fleeing in droves across the field. At the center stood a strange object roaring with laughter. Its body was sticky and gelatinous, with books and stationery embedded in its flesh—and even several people who might or might not still be alive.

Qin Xian lashed out with the whip and planted a lick of fire on the monster. Its laughter swiftly turned into shrieks. Without so much as another glance, Qin Xian turned and headed for the cafeteria.

The monster there was a gigantic rat. Its scarlet eyes were fixed on a person in an apron and a sanitary cap.

Someone he knew: Yuan Fengying.

She truly was strong. With one swing of her arm, she hurled a heavy cleaver and buried it squarely in the rat’s skull. Several strangers were fighting alongside her. Given enough time, they probably could have killed it themselves.

But since he was already here, Qin Xian sent his whip flying anyway.

Flame caught on the rat’s tail. It screeched and twisted around to beat at the fire with its claws, only for the flames to climb up its paws and spread to its head.

The revolting smell of roasting flesh filled the air. The rat desperately tried to cram itself into a sink in the kitchen, but the tiny basin was too small to hold even its head. The sight was almost comical.

A few minutes later, under the dumbfounded stares of Yuan Fengying and the others, the rat collapsed and went still.

Yuan Fengying guessed who was responsible and immediately ran out to find him, but Qin Xian was already gone.

By the time he returned to the teaching building, his steps had grown much heavier. Rubbing his temple, he surveyed the forecourt.

Dead ants littered the ground. Only a few scattered tongues of Blue Flame remained, and the scorched smell wafting from the cracks was accompanied by a faint blue glow.

Qin Xian dropped onto the ground beside one of the cracks. He waited until the last of the blue light faded before letting out a long breath and withdrawing his ability.

Zhang Min immediately ran over. “Are you all right? How are you feeling? Want something to eat?”

As he spoke, he held out a package of field rations and a bottle of water.

Qin Xian accepted them. “Go check on the students. I’ll be fine after a short rest.”

The teaching building was filled with noise, and students could be heard crying inside. After a moment’s hesitation, Zhang Min pressed his nail gun into Qin Xian’s hand and turned toward the building.

Qin Xian propped his head up with one hand. He had neither the desire nor the strength to get off the ground.

A pair of sneakers stopped in his field of vision.

He did not have to look up to know who it was.

The Student Council President crouched down and asked with apparent concern, “Teacher Qin, are you all right?”

Qin Xian could not be bothered to respond.

“Would you like to rest in the Student Council office? I can prepare fruit and snacks for you too.”

Qin Xian looked up irritably. “What’s your name? What do you want?”

The president tilted his head and thought for a moment. “Hmm… a name? I don’t have one of those.”

So he really wasn’t human.

And yet there was something profoundly strange about him. He did not seem to belong to this Domain, nor did he appear interested in hurting the students. His attention had been fixed on Qin Xian from beginning to end…

As if Qin Xian alone were the reason he had come.

Qin Xian grew warier, but the mystery also piqued his interest—or, more precisely, his desire to investigate.

He snorted. “Who cares? Get away from me. You’re blocking my view.”

Instead, the president moved even closer. “Are you sure you don’t want more rest, Teacher Qin? You’ll need your strength for whatever comes next. Besides, I can give you more valuable information.”

“And why should I trust you? You hardly look like you’re running a charity.”

The president pressed a hand to his chest with heartfelt devotion. “Because I like you, Teacher. You’re mesmerizing every time you fight. I’d do anything for you, if you’d only give me a chance.”

Then he held out his hand.

Qin Xian looked at it and gave a low laugh. His expression seemed to relax, and the president could not tear his eyes away.

“You’re sure you like me? I only like people who are as obedient as dogs.”

“I told you. I’d do anything for you.”

Qin Xian’s smile deepened. He raised a finger toward the sky. “All right, then. Go kill the master of this Domain and restore the school to normal.”

The Student Council President blinked innocently and lowered his voice. “But if I force myself to act against the rules of this Domain, I might die. Would that still be all right with you?”
