“I don’t care how things worked before. From now on, I’m in charge here. Understood?”

Qin Xian sat on the sofa with his legs spread, surrounded by several police officers. He looked exactly like a gang boss flanked by his men.

The boys kneeling across from them were thoroughly intimidated.

A few still looked unconvinced, but they wisely kept their mouths shut.

“I’m not going to make life difficult for you. Just answer a few questions. First: how did the girl in the storage closet die?”

The boys seemed to remember something. Their expressions turned uneasy.

After several timid glances, someone shoved Guo Jiarong forward. He lowered his head, aggrieved.

“She brought it on herself, so she got strangled.”

Xun Guangfan’s eyes widened in disbelief. “What do you mean, she ‘brought it on herself,’ so she got strangled? Who strangled her? You?”

He looked the youngest among the officers and clearly found the answer impossible to accept. In fact, everyone except Qin Xian wore a grim expression.

These children were eighteen. If they truly had murdered someone, their entire lives were ruined.

Guo Jiarong jumped at Xun Guangfan’s shout. Fear flashed through his eyes, only to be replaced by vicious hostility.

“She wanted to go back! She said she wanted to take the college entrance exam, and she hid in her room to study! If two more people started acting like her, this paradise would disappear! We have to protect this place! We like it here! This is the only place where we’re free! Anyone who tries to destroy it should die. They should all—ah!”

Qin Xian slapped him to the floor.

The blow frightened the other half-crazed children so badly that their eyes instantly cleared.

Qin Xian looked down at the little brats huddled like quail.

“Someone get me a notebook,” he said loudly.

The students stared blankly, too slow to react.

Xun Guangfan moved at once. He handed over the notebook and pen he used for recording clues.

Qin Xian took them, leaned over the coffee table, and began to write.

Xun Guangfan and the others crowded around.

“Wait, are you… writing *The Memorial on Dispatching the Troops* from memory?”

The students erupted. One rushed forward anxiously.

“You can’t do that!”

Qin Xian slapped down the pen. “Why not? Come on, then. If you’ve got the guts, strangle me too.”

The students: “…”

How were they supposed to strangle someone they could not beat?

“A-actually, none of us saw who killed Wang Rongrong…”

So the children might not have fallen completely into madness yet.

Xun Guangfan and the officers secretly breathed sighs of relief.

“Do you suspect anyone?” Qin Xian asked.

“Probably Tao Xiuping. He was the first one here. As soon as we arrived, he gave us the rules. He threatened us, saying anyone who broke them had only themselves to blame if they died. He said this was the place he’d always dreamed of—no parents or teachers controlling him, no schedule telling him when to sleep and wake up. He wouldn’t let anyone destroy it.”

“Bullshit! How could it be me?”

“You said you were sleeping in your room, but you can’t prove it. Maybe you went out to kill her.”

“Sure, I thought about it, but I didn’t kill her! Maybe it was that girl in the room next door. Wang Rongrong stole her boyfriend back at school…”

A girl who had been watching from nearby exploded.

“What the fuck? I didn’t do it!”

The students launched into a shrill argument. Their chatter made Qin Xian’s head ache.

He rose decisively, patted Xun Guangfan on the shoulder, and said, “Finding murderers is work for professionals. I’ll leave it to you.”

“All right. Where are you going, Mr. Qin?”

“I’ll take a look at the fourth floor.”

The fourth floor resembled a hotel. A long corridor ran through it, with identical doors lining one side. Some signs read *OCCUPIED*, while others were blank.

When Qin Xian passed the first blank door, the word *OCCUPIED* suddenly appeared.

He understood immediately. This room belonged to him.

He pushed the door open.

The interior was fantastical: a two-level apartment with three rooms, beautifully decorated to suit Qin Xian’s tastes. The simple yet welcoming design used shades of blue and black, as if every detail had been made for him.

Such a space could never have fit inside the villa. It was more like an independent dimension.

Qin Xian walked through the apartment but found nothing unusual. He could not even fault the décor.

Every object appealed to him. One look at the bed or sofa made him want to lie down.

If he lived a normal life, worked, and earned money, perhaps his ultimate goal would be to own a home exactly like this…

Knock, knock, knock.

The sudden visitor was not someone he expected.

The Student Council President spread all five fingers in greeting, grinning through the doorway.

“Hi. I made it too.”

Qin Xian suppressed the urge to kick him away. Calmly, he asked, “You don’t seem to be human. If you could enter, what happened to those two anomalies?”

The president shrugged. “No idea.”

Qin Xian immediately shut the door.

“Hey! You’re not even going to try asking harder?”

The Student Council President wedged one foot into the gap.

Qin Xian’s grip tightened around the handle. The door crushed the president’s foot with tremendous force. The faint crack of breaking bone came from below.

The pervert did not so much as change expression.

“Don’t be angry. I’m not trying to hide anything. When I opened my eyes, I was already here. I didn’t encounter a thing.”

“You’re an anomaly entering another Domain,” Qin Xian said. “It must have assigned you a task by force. What is it?”

The president tilted his head. Then, without warning, he reached through the doorway.

“Eighteen-year-old Teacher Qin is so beautiful. You haven’t finished growing yet… Your skin is even nicer. So soft. You smell so good…”

He lifted the hair from Qin Xian’s shoulder and reached for his cheek.

Qin Xian kicked the tip of the president’s trapped foot, then slammed the door on the four fingers reaching inside.

He used every ounce of his strength.

The bones snapped under the pressure with a sound that set the teeth on edge. All four fingers broke and twisted in the gap. Black-red blood splattered Qin Xian’s face and the wall, then streamed down the crack in the door.

The last strip of skin holding one severed finger finally tore.

It hit the floor with a soft smack.

Any student who saw this would probably faint in terror.

Qin Xian coldly locked the door, walked to the bed, lay down, and closed his eyes.

One second. Two.

The room remained silent.

Fifteen. Sixteen…

An almost imperceptible sound came from beside the bed.

Qin Xian’s eyes opened. He snatched the knife hidden beneath the pillow and slashed sideways.

Clang!

Metal shrieked through the room as his knife struck another blade.

The person holding it was none other than the Student Council President.

Qin Xian sneered. “So you did receive a task.”

The president sighed. “I had no choice. If I wanted to enter the Domain, I had to do a little work for it.”

“And by ‘work,’ you mean killing someone?”

The president pressed harder. The two locked blades trembled between them.

“Yes,” he answered cheerfully. “But if I killed someone else, you’d be angry, Teacher Qin. You might never speak to me again.”

Qin Xian gave two cold laughs. “So you came after me instead? Smart choice. I’ll send you straight to hell.”

Scrape!

The knives slid apart.

Qin Xian lunged forward, slashing twice through the darkened room. The president gave ground, dodged both attacks, and slapped one hand against the wall.

Every light came on at once. The room was suddenly blinding.

Qin Xian’s pupils contracted. He instinctively closed his eyes and raised an arm against the glare.

The Student Council President seized the opening and brought his knife down in a savage overhead cut. There was no trace of anything that could be called “love” in the movement.

Unfortunately for him, the blade struck nothing.

Qin Xian retreated in time, holding his knife horizontally before his chest.

“This is what you call liking me?”

The president rushed after him, smiling radiantly as he slashed.

“Of course. Don’t you humans have a saying about loving someone so much you want to kill them? And there’s another word… What is it? Yandere?”

“Fuck your yandere nonsense. The only word you qualify for is ‘lunatic.’”

Qin Xian ducked under another attack. The president’s extended arm exposed his chest, and Qin Xian drove expertly for the most lethal target: the heart.

The president flipped backward. The knife still sliced across his chin, sending drops of black-red blood onto the carpet.

Yet he kept smiling as if the wound belonged to someone else.

He did not even dodge the blade coming almost directly at his face. Instead, he surged forward and cut open Qin Xian’s forearm.

“One-all,” the Student Council President said with a smile.

Qin Xian’s eyes sharpened.

He snatched a serving plate from the dining table and smashed it over the president’s head.

The plate shattered. Ceramic fragments smeared with black-red blood rained onto the floor.

Despite the tremendous noise, no one came to investigate. The rooms were probably soundproofed from one another entirely.

The Student Council President’s head streamed with blood. It flowed into his right eye, staining even the white black-red and making him look more deranged than ever.

He lunged at Qin Xian with the knife.

Qin Xian lifted a chair and caught him between its four legs, then swept his feet out from under him.

From the floor, the president kicked the chair away.

Then he saw Qin Xian, whose expression had remained calm throughout the fight, finally bare a trace of a ferocious smile.

Qin Xian straddled his body. Both hands raised the knife high, then plunged it toward his chest.

The president caught Qin Xian’s wrists.

For a moment, the two froze in a brutal stalemate. The knife tip trembled only a few centimeters above the Student Council President’s heart, but would not descend any farther.
