Pei Yi had been drinking, so naturally he could not drive. Someone else took the wheel while he sat beside me in the back.

Watching the scenery rush past the window, he suddenly asked, “What happened to your leg?”

The question startled the driver so badly that the car swerved from side to side.

My fingers shifted atop my right knee. “Didn’t you hear them? My leg is not to be mentioned.”

Expressionless, Pei Yi pulled off his tie. With faint irritation, he asked, “…Was it because Xie Er helped me escape the ring?”

I turned to him with interest. “What if I said it was?”

Pei Yi pressed his lips together, but what came out was, “Was Xie Er punished too? Even you had your leg broken. Then Xie Er…”

The amusement vanished from my eyes. I stared at him for several seconds, snatched up the glass beside the armrest, and took a long swallow.

Then I lunged over him and sealed his mouth with mine.

I forced the liquor between his lips. Pei Yi choked and tried to struggle, but I grabbed him hard below the waist. Pain blanched his face and stole his strength.

I pinned him to the seat, licking and biting until he was panting and drenched in cold sweat. Only much later did I release him.

I had torn every button from his white shirt. A round bite mark marred each side of his chest, both still bleeding from the force of my teeth.

I bit my way down to his lower abdomen before he finally caught his breath. He seized my high-tied hair and snarled, “Xie Yi! Are you insane?”

“What? Am I too dirty for you?”

“Or are you saving yourself for Xie Er?”

“Even if he saved you, that doesn’t mean he’ll love you. Aren’t you being naive?”

Pei Yi’s chest heaved with rage. “That is between him and me! Xie Yi, is there anything in your mind besides this filth?”

“No wonder they all call you…”

He stopped himself, gritted his teeth, and shoved me away. “Don’t touch me. I’m not like you. I don’t sleep with just anyone!”

I landed on the floor and jarred the old injury in my right leg. My face went white with pain.

Seeing me clutch my leg and tremble uncontrollably, Pei Yi froze, then bent to help me. “Xie Yi, you…”

The instant his hand came close, I caught it, dragged him down, rolled on top of him, and reached for his belt.

His expression changed. Furious, he tried to push me away, but the space in front of the seat was narrow, and with me pinning him down, he could not get up.

His eyes reddened with anger. “Xie Yi! Have you lost your mind?”

“Get away! Don’t touch me!”

He was like a lamb awaiting slaughter. I stripped him with ease.

Our struggle terrified the driver. “M-Mr. Xie…”

I pulled a blanket over Pei Yi, yanked down the partition, and ordered, “Get out.”

The driver parked, opened the door, and shut it again in one fluid motion, as though wolves were at his heels.

When I pulled away the blanket, Pei Yi’s eyes were wet and red. A tear rolled down his cheek.

Despite the pain, I had guided him halfway inside me, but that tear stopped me cold. My right leg hurt even worse; kneeling beside his hips felt like being pierced by needles and roasted over flame.

I stared into his beautiful, wounded eyes. After a long silence, I sighed hoarsely. “Why are you crying?”

I was the one with a knife in my heart and pain in my ass. If anyone should cry, it was me.

Pei Yi covered his eyes with an arm, refusing to let me see. His voice was thick as he cursed me.

“I never should have expected anything from you.”

“Xie Yi, you are rotten through and through.”

My grip on him tightened. His sob changed pitch, nearly breaking into a gasp. Becoming aware of our position only made him more miserable. His slit brow drew together in pitiful grievance, and even the tip of his nose turned red.

“All you do is bully me. I hate you!”

“Xie Yi, if you dare sleep with me tonight… I’ll kill myself.”

He was exactly the same as he had been as a child.

For an instant, my fingertips went numb. I wanted desperately to ignore everything and see it through.

But the kid said he would die.

How could I gamble on that?

After letting him pull free, I tugged the arm away from his face. Just as I expected, he had rubbed his beautiful eyes red and swollen.

He was plainly glaring at me, but a shimmering veil of tears covered his eyes. There was nothing fierce about him. He only looked heartbreakingly pitiful.

I lowered my gaze to his bitten, split lips and kissed them gently.

“I won’t sleep with you. Stop crying.”

Instead his eyes grew redder, and tears poured down. He shoved at me.

“Get up!”

He scrambled to his feet and dressed in disarray. When he picked up the white shirt I had nearly reduced to rags, he shot me a furious, red-eyed glare.

Then he climbed out and walked away without looking back.
