“Ying Wuji!”

Everyone present recognized him, and disbelief spread across their faces.

He was Ying Wuji, the Ninth Continent’s peerless young sword genius!

He had entered the Xiaoyao Sect at six, reached the Qi Refining Realm at seven, the Foundation Establishment Realm at nine, and the Golden Core Realm at thirteen!

The moment Lu Xiangxiang saw him, her face nearly turned green, and hatred flashed through her eyes.

In her previous life, Ying Wuji had treated her more coldly than anyone. After she severed ties with the Xiaoyao Sect, he had acted as though she did not exist whenever they met. Worse, he had repeatedly stolen the limelight from her!

After Song Yan had fallen to demonic corruption for her, Ying Wuji had hunted her down and nearly severed one of her arms.

Of everyone in the Xiaoyao Sect, she hated Ying Wuji most!

Seeing him with an arm around Yuan Yao stirred a feeling in Lu Xiangxiang that she could not name. She quickly suppressed it, however, as a realization struck her—

Now that Ying Wuji was here, the black dragon might very well fall into his hands!

Lu Xiangxiang’s expression shifted. She might hate him, but even she could not question his strength.

“Youngest Senior Brother!” After spitting out the blood, Yuan Yao turned back. The newcomer really was Ying Wuji.

“Why did you come here?” Ying Wuji lowered his phoenix eyes, plainly displeased.

“Because I wanted to.”

Ying Wuji paused. “…To get yourself killed?”

At that moment, the black dragon attacked them again.

Without even looking back, Ying Wuji swung his sword.

One slash sent the black dragon crashing to the ground.

Bang!

Yuan Yao’s face darkened. “Ying Wuji, watch your mouth.”

The dragon slammed heavily into the floor. Burning with humiliation, it launched itself back into the air and charged toward them.

“You broke through?” Ying Wuji asked. Once again, he casually slashed behind him without turning his head.

Boom!

The enormous black dragon was struck by the fierce sword energy and smashed into the ground once more, howling in pain.

It charged again.

Ying Wuji knocked it away with another slash.

Again and again, the same scene repeated itself.

The corner of Yuan Yao’s mouth twitched. She looked up at her Youngest Senior Brother’s utterly unruffled expression and decided that System 250 had not been wrong to describe him as a show-off.

She had always known he was strong, but until now, she had never truly grasped how strong.

Yuan Yao bared her teeth in a grin. “That’s right. Aren’t I impressive?”

“So-so,” Ying Wuji said flatly.

She rolled her eyes at him.

Song Yan and Cang Li both relaxed when they saw Ying Wuji.

Still holding Yuan Yao, he descended and landed in front of them. Only then did he release her.

“Eldest Senior Brother.” Ying Wuji looked at Song Yan and greeted him.

Cang Li stared at him without expression. “Why didn’t you greet me?”

Ying Wuji turned to him. “If you need me to, I can.”

“Don’t think being stronger than me means you can disrespect your Third Senior Brother!” Cang Li sneered.

“Stop, stop!” Yuan Yao stretched out both hands and tried to push them apart.

Neither of them budged an inch.

Yuan Yao fell silent.

The Third Senior Brother, Fourth Senior Brother, and Fifth Senior Brother were extremely close in age. As a result, they never addressed one another as senior or junior brother and simply used each other’s names.

They did, however, show respect to the Eldest Senior Brother and Second Senior Sister, who were two or three years older.

“We should deal with the matter before us first,” Song Yan said gently.

“All right.” Ying Wuji nodded and looked at the black dragon he had repeatedly knocked down. “Yaoyao, do you want it as your mount?”

“No. It’s ugly.”

The black dragon stared at her.

“I do! I do!” Cang Li raised a hand excitedly. “I want to use it for alchemy! Dragon blood, dragon cores, dragon meat, and dragon horns are all supreme ingredients!”

The black dragon’s eyes widened.

Its pupils contracted. Ignoring the pain of its wounds, it scrambled to its feet and prepared to flee.

Just then, a voice called out, “Youngest Senior Brother, could you give me the black dragon as a mount?”

Everyone followed the sound and saw the white-robed girl who had been hiding in the corner walking toward them with a slight smile.

Ying Wuji followed Yuan Yao’s gaze and saw Lu Xiangxiang.

Cang Li’s excitement instantly faded when she spoke. He regarded this new junior sister of his with mixed feelings.

Song Yan frowned slightly.

“Youngest Senior Brother,” Lu Xiangxiang said with a smile, “I am Master’s new disciple and your Seventh Junior Sister.”

The cultivators who had thought her presumptuous immediately changed their expressions.

Immortal Lord Qianshan had actually taken another disciple after ten years?!

So this was Immortal Lord Qianshan’s seventh disciple?

Lu Xiangxiang continued, “Eldest Senior Brother, Third Senior Brother, Youngest Senior Brother, I know my request is rather abrupt. But my cultivation is low. If I had a mount as powerful as this black dragon beside me, I would finally have the means to protect myself.”

She lowered her eyes, assuming a delicate and vulnerable air.

Song Yan looked as though he wanted to speak, but stopped himself.

Yuan Yao turned to Ying Wuji.

Noticing her puffed cheeks, Ying Wuji realized she was unhappy.

He reached out and pinched one of those swollen cheeks before saying coolly, “The black dragon is for Third Senior Brother.”

Deep disappointment spread across Lu Xiangxiang’s face. She could not help looking at Song Yan and Cang Li.

Song Yan said nothing and merely avoided her gaze.

Cang Li immediately pressed his palms together. “Many thanks to Fifth Junior Brother for this generous gift.”

Lu Xiangxiang stared at him.

Cang Li grabbed Ying Wuji and dragged him toward the black dragon.

“Fifth Junior Brother, catch it! I’ll stew it tonight!”

The black dragon had been trying to sneak away. At those words, panic crossed its face, and it fled at top speed.

Silver longsword in hand, Ying Wuji followed at an unhurried pace.

That alone placed tremendous pressure on the dragon.

Its breathing turned ragged, and cold sweat poured off its body. It pushed its speed to the limit, desperately squeezing out every last shred of its potential to escape Ying Wuji’s pursuit.

Only three seconds later, however, an intense chill swept over it from behind.

Its entire body stiffened. A razor-sharp silver sword was cleaving toward its head at astonishing speed!

The black dragon’s pupils shrank. At that critical instant, it poured all its strength into blocking the fatal blow.

Clang!

The sword struck its horn, sending sparks flying.

Despite using all its power, a small piece of the horn was severed. Agony spread through the dragon’s body, making it convulse uncontrollably.

It finally understood that this human youth truly meant to kill it!

The silver sword swept toward it again and was just about to plunge into its body when—

It stopped in midair.

Everyone paused and looked toward Ying Wuji.

He did not turn around, so no one could make out his expression.

“Cang Li,” he said. “Contract with it.”
