Chapter 118

“The police were called. What a nuisance. Is that really a human? She actually had the strength to call the police in that state.”

“I heard she tasted something wrong with the juice and forced herself to vomit it all up.”

“It doesn’t matter. The larvae have already been injected into her body.”

“So many police showed up. How are we going to explain this?”

“It’s fine. We’ll just put on a Skin Suit identical to that human’s and explain it to the police outside.”

…

Several Pseudo-Humans were chatting outside, their words making Gu Huaiwei’s heart tighten.

Gu Huaiwei could not have any living thing inside her body; otherwise, she would have no way to leave this Dimension.

She touched her stomach.

Something seemed to be there, wriggling inside like an insect.

Gu Huaiwei’s eyes darkened. How exactly did these Aliens lay eggs inside human bodies?

Because the cage was covered with a cloth, Gu Huaiwei couldn’t use the mirror in her arms to check her stomach.

Before leaving today, Gu Huaiwei had told Lin She that she was going to He Jiarui’s coming-of-age ceremony and would return to the Oasis Matchmaking Agency before dark.

If she didn’t return on time, Lin She would definitely realize something was wrong.

Judging by the conversation between those Pseudo-Humans just now, they had planned to target her at this banquet.

They had mentioned an “identical Skin Suit.”

Gu Huaiwei guessed that those Pseudo-Humans must have prepared in advance, creating a human skin that looked exactly like her to wear so they could deal with the police she had summoned…

If they were even bolder, they might even have that Pseudo-Human directly replace her identity and return to the Oasis Matchmaking Agency.

If that was the case, they had miscalculated.

Neither Lin She nor He Xueyi were ordinary people. If a Pseudo-Human returned disguised as her, they would surely be identified.

She didn’t know what these Pseudo-Humans were planning.

Gu Huaiwei had no intention of sitting around and waiting for death.

In the darkness, she felt around for the cage’s keyhole.

Her fingers slid across the rough iron bars. She couldn’t afford to be impatient; the more urgent the situation, the more careful and cautious she had to be.

She habitually kept her knife hidden in her sleeve.

If it was just an ordinary lock, Gu Huaiwei had ways to pick it open with the blade.

Suddenly, the cage was hoisted up abruptly. Gravity caused her to tumble uncontrollably inside, disrupting her movements.

Before she could steady herself, the cage dropped heavily onto something, followed by the sound of a vehicle starting.

As the vehicle accelerated, she realized the Pseudo-Humans were transporting her away.

Gu Huaiwei’s heart raced. God only knew where those Pseudo-Humans were taking her, but it certainly wasn’t anywhere good.

Even in times of peace and prosperity, heinous crimes like trafficking and kidnapping existed, let alone in this world ruled by Aliens.

Gu Huaiwei had completely given up hope on the Aliens’ sense of morality.

The vehicle jolted. Having failed her first attempt, Gu Huaiwei could only patiently feel around again. After some time, she finally found the keyhole and, gripping the knife handle, quickly pried it open.

The iron door swung open.

Gu Huaiwei crawled out.

Lifting the cage cover, a cold wind brushed against her cheeks.

She found herself inside a large truck filled with frozen seafood. The surrounding foam boxes emitted a frigid, fishy stench.

The vehicle was moving fast, flanked by pitch-black woods.

This road was quite remote, with no streetlights, no pedestrians, and no other vehicles.

Gu Huaiwei didn’t have her phone on her, so she couldn’t contact Lin She or He Xueyi immediately.

Using the light from the celestial anomaly in the sky, Gu Huaiwei took out her sister’s mirror and aimed it at her stomach.

Through the mirror, Gu Huaiwei saw a fat White Worm nestled against her abdomen.

This insect was different from the dense clusters of eggs she had seen on those humans who had undergone Bonding before.
The worm in her stomach was bloated and plump, a single specimen that looked like a greasy, freshly baked croissant.

In contrast, the eggs inside the bodies of humans who had undergone Bonding were like white sesame seeds scattered throughout their bodies, even reaching the brain. While each individual egg was tiny, they were incredibly numerous, numbering in the thousands.

They weren’t the same thing at all.

Gu Huaiwei considered the possibility of using a knife to dig the worm out directly.

Doing it now certainly wasn’t appropriate.

Without timely bandaging, she would lose too much blood.

If she went to a hospital for surgery, it could be removed like a tumor.

Gu Huaiwei saw that the Big Fat Worm was in a dormant state. Aside from the occasional wiggle, it wasn’t making any other moves for the time being. She put down the mirror, deciding to escape first before dealing with this disgusting little thing.

She crept toward the front of the truck and found only one driver wearing a baseball cap.

The traffic light turned red, and the truck slowly decelerated. The driver was distracted, looking down and swiping through his phone screen.

The screen displayed a rather vulgar human performance.

Now was her chance!

As the vehicle was about to come to a complete stop, Gu Huaiwei seized the moment. With a light tap of her toes against the window frame, she nimbly vaulted into the driver’s side.

“Hey, buddy. Don’t play with your phone while driving. It’ll be the death of you.”

In the next second, a cold glint flashed from the dagger in her hand. Before the Pseudo-Human driver could react, Gu Huaiwei slit his throat with a single stroke.

“Pay more attention in your next life.”

The Pseudo-Human driver’s eyes suddenly widened. His left eye rolled out faster than the right, and the gash at his throat slowly split open. Blood mixed with an eerie green liquid seeped out, emitting a foul stench.

When the blade sank into the skin, it didn’t feel very real; it was a bit like cutting into modeling clay.

But before Gu Huaiwei could pull back, countless long, thin green tentacles suddenly erupted from the rotting Skin Suit, wriggling as they lunged at her.

A centipede dies but never falls-some things are hard to kill.

“I knew you wouldn’t be that easy to deal with,” Gu Huaiwei snorted. She swung her dagger with precision, and the tentacles fell to the floor one after another.

She quickly opened the driver’s side door and kicked the remains of the Pseudo-Human along with the slimy green tentacles out of the truck. Then, she steadily took the driver’s seat, shifted gears, and stepped on the accelerator in one smooth motion.

With a roar, the truck sped forward. She swung the vehicle around, and the truck’s wheels ground directly over the remains she had just kicked out, crushing the Pseudo-Human into pieces and leaving a trail of twitching tentacles on the road behind her.

The Pseudo-Human’s phone was still in the truck, displaying a GPS navigation route.

Gu Huaiwei glanced at the destination.

It showed Hejia Huan Supermarket.

But when she zoomed in on the destination, she could see the familiar Sun Cross Mark.

Gu Huaiwei slowed down as she searched her mind for the meaning of the Sun Cross Mark.

She discovered that in this Dimension, the Sun Cross Mark was actually the representative emblem of the Dawn Alliance.

Strange. Wasn’t the Dawn Alliance an organization of humans united to deal with Aliens?

Why were they helping Aliens with human trafficking?

And what was the deal with the Sun Cross Mark in this Dimension? Wasn’t it designed by her sister?

The questions in Gu Huaiwei’s mind only intensified.

Just then, a piercing horn blast suddenly echoed across the empty road.

Gu Huaiwei’s hand shook, and the phone nearly slipped under the seat.

She looked up to see a truck ahead with its high beams blindingly bright. It was driving on the wrong side of the road, charging toward her at an unstoppable speed with no intention of slowing down.

It was trying to ram her to death.

“Crap!” she cursed inwardly, violently spinning the steering wheel.

At that moment, only one thought crossed her mind.

And that was: Never play with your phone while driving!
