“During my watch, I saw the man with the injured arm, after his infection worsened, run to the vending machine in the front carriage to exchange for an Inhibitor.”

Karl reported in a low voice, his tone suppressed.

Gu Huaiwei’s gaze turned slightly cold. She glanced at the empty seat diagonally behind and asked, “In Business Class, what about the woman by the window?”

Karl turned around, stunned for a moment, his brows furrowing into a cross: “Which woman? I didn’t notice.”

Before he finished speaking, the carriage suddenly shook violently.

The passengers inside the carriage swayed with the jolt. He Xueyi promptly supported Gu Huaiwei’s wrist and smiled, “Miss Gu, be careful.”

“Thank you.” Gu Huaiwei met his glassy golden eyes. There was no sign of panic on his face; it seemed that such a minor incident posed no threat to him.

At that moment, hurried footsteps suddenly sounded from the front. A woman covered in blood came running back from the front of the carriage, her face filled with terror.

“Someone brought a prohibited creature onto the train. Many people have died up front!”

This was the very woman Gu Huaiwei had noticed earlier, the one sitting by the window with drooping eyelids.

She was dragging the previously severely injured man. The lower half of the man’s body was a bloody mess, almost completely eaten away, his internal organs trailing on the ground like torn rags, leaving a long, sticky trail of blood.

He appeared to be dead.

The woman’s legs gave out, and she knelt not far from Gu Huaiwei, her voice trembling so much it was almost incoherent.

“Quick… you all need to get off the train… it’s not Radiation Lizards, it’s a Radiation Frog swarm…”

Other Business Class passengers cried out in alarm, and the carriage descended into chaos.

“My god, it’s actually Radiation Frogs!”

“We have to get off! Damn it, how do we stop this train?”

“I don’t want to die on here!”

“Isn’t the High-Speed Rail supposed to be absolutely safe? How could something like this happen? I’m calling to complain!”

The woman tried to run toward Gu Huaiwei and attempted to grab her.

Gu Huaiwei’s gaze remained calm. She raised her hand, holding her gun steady, and fired a shot half an inch in front of the woman’s feet.

The bullet struck the ground, sparks flying-a clear warning.

“You…” The woman stopped in her tracks, a flash of malice flickering in her eyes.

“Throw the corpse out.” Gu Huaiwei noticed something writhing in the man’s half-torn abdomen. She shifted the dark gun barrel, her voice icy. “Don’t come any closer. If you step within a meter of me, I’ll shoot.”

The woman lowered her head and merely pushed the corpse aside. Her voice trembled, “We have to find a way to stop the High-Speed Rail… If we stay on, we’ll all die…”

Gu Huaiwei responded rather indifferently: “Oh, we won’t die.”

“No… you don’t understand the power of Radiation Frogs…” The woman’s face was filled with terror and despair.

“Forget Radiation Frogs-even if seven Calabash Brothers showed up, it wouldn’t matter.”

“What Calabash Brothers… This is life and death, please don’t joke… The High-Speed Rail is about to be overrun. It might even derail and catch fire! Right now, getting off is more important!” The woman was fearmongering, trying to persuade them to escape.

Gu Huaiwei ignored her and turned to sit back down.

She had absolute trust in the High-Speed Rail line operated by Oasis Hotel.

There were sufficient defense and cleanup systems on board.

Getting off the train, to her, would only be courting danger.
Karl was persuaded by the woman, and a look of gravity appeared on his stubbly face as he tried to reason, “Miss Gu, you’ve never traveled far, so you might not realize-if this really is a Radiation Frog tide, we won’t be able to resist it.

Radiation Frogs come in huge numbers. As long as someone brings a mother frog onto the train, there will be an endless stream of male frogs frantically flooding into the carriage.

Male frogs lay eggs inside the human body, and those eggs hatch within five minutes, then devour the corpse and rapidly grow into new male frogs.

Radiation Frogs will burrow into any hole they see, and their destructive power against equipment is immense-even those large Defense Robots can be disabled within minutes, and the High-Speed Rail won’t last much longer either.”

As if to confirm Karl’s words, the High-Speed Rail entered emergency braking mode. Red alarms blared, and an electronic announcement came through the carriage speakers.

[This train is under attack by unidentified organisms. Entering high-temperature disinfection mode. Please return to your seats and wait patiently. Remain calm.]

Hearing the electronic announcement, the passengers became even more frightened.

Gu Huaiwei knew this was just the High-Speed Rail initiating the next stage of its defense protocol.

The speed at which Radiation Frogs reproduce exceeds the train’s normal garbage disposal rate. When the cleaning system is overloaded, the High-Temperature Disinfection System is activated.

It was simply a standard crisis management procedure.

The High-Speed Rail stopped, and the temperature in the carriage quickly rose.

The carriage doors opened, clearing out piles of Radiation Frog corpses.

Seeing the doors open, the other passengers ignored the electronic broadcast’s advice. In a panic, they rushed out, trampling over the soft, rotten bodies, and soon after, screams echoed from outside.

Gu Huaiwei couldn’t stop those passengers from rushing to their deaths. She lounged lazily in her sofa chair, her long legs crossed, fingers tapping lightly on the armrest.

He Xueyi took out a white Feather Fan from his sleeve and gently fanned Gu Huaiwei.

Karl and the bodyguards remained standing where they were.

“Just sit and wait. This is the High-Temperature Disinfection System. It’ll clear everything out in two hours.”

One of the other security guards couldn’t help but interject, “High temperature? We’ll be boiled alive in here.”

They couldn’t help but wonder if this High-Speed Rail could really withstand a Radiation Frog tide.

“Don’t worry. The carriage can distinguish between passengers and invading organisms. We’ll only feel a slight increase in temperature, not actual heat damage,” Gu Huaiwei explained patiently.

The most basic requirement for a competent Merchant is to be thoroughly familiar with the products they sell-and to have confidence in them.

Gu Huaiwei knew every public facility she’d unlocked by heart: all the procedures, functions, and emergency protocols.

The High-Speed Rail could kill off anything from Radiation Lizards to Radiation Frogs, restore the carriage to its original state, calculate losses, and identify those responsible for compensation.

Even the time lost on the journey would be made up for by speeding up later, ensuring passengers arrived on time.

“If you’re really nervous, you can gather together and play Guandan.” Gu Huaiwei took out a deck of playing cards from her bracelet, her tone relaxed. “This Oasis High-Speed Rail was unlocked by me. You should have faith in me.”

The woman with drooping eyelids saw that Gu Huaiwei was truly unmoved. Suddenly, she sprang up, tore off the human-skin mask from her face, and hurled half a corpse on the ground viciously at Gu Huaiwei’s face.
