Chapter 2

Lu Yuan barely slept. After playing cards with the Dream Official for several hours, I finally managed to wait until the man fell asleep.

I glanced at the clock on the wall. Three in the morning.

“You go to bed way too late.”

Lu Yuan seemed to still be at the office. The shirt he wore was faintly wrinkled, and his pale cheeks were flushed red. It looked like he’d just come back from some business dinner and had curled up on the sofa in his office.

I walked over and sniffed. “You were drinking too?”

He stared at me blankly for a few seconds. Only after confirming who I was did he slowly look away and give another quiet, “Mm.”

Since I had plenty of time, I simply sat down cross-legged. “You really need to take care of yourself. You’re so young, and you’re already staying up late and drinking like this. Do you have any idea how long I waited over there before you finally fell asleep?”

All because of him, I lost another hundred hell money to the Dream Official.

Lu Yuan gave a cold laugh. “You still care whether I live or die? It’s been a year, and I never saw you come visit me once.”

“Of course I care! I just… I just didn’t have the chance before. Look, I’m here now, aren’t I?”

I wore an apologetic smile on my face while secretly thinking that if Lu Yuan really did die, no one would be left to supply me anymore.

I scratched my head and decided to cut to the chase. “So, about the stuff you burned for me last time-I got it.”

Lu Yuan lifted his eyes, waiting for me to continue.

I swallowed. “What I’m saying is… could you maybe burn me some more?”

At that, Lu Yuan smiled.

He smiled so widely that even the little canine tooth tucked away at the corner of his mouth showed.

“Chen Nian’an, are you keeping some dog behind my back down there?”

I shook my head like a rattle drum. “Absolutely not. I’m just playing with them myself…”

“If you like playing that much, why didn’t you ever think to try it with me while you were alive?”

Try it with me…

With me…

Try it…

A whole string of censored images burst into my mind, and I fled the dream with my face burning red.

When I got back, the Dream Official was sitting there with one leg crossed over the other, playing Tetris.

That children’s handheld console had been burned to him by his son last year.

He carried it around all day and treasured it like a precious relic.

When he saw me come out, he tucked the console into his pocket. “You still had twenty minutes left. Why’d you come out early?”

Thinking of what Lu Yuan had said, I patted my completely sensationless cheeks. “Save those twenty minutes for me. I’ll use them next time.”

After that, I didn’t wait for the Dream Official to answer and dashed off like a wisp of smoke.

This round of negotiations had failed.

I hadn’t managed to fool Lu Yuan into burning me more stuff.

My ghost customers came to my shop every day to urge me for new stock, leaving me utterly overwhelmed.

Just as I was trying to think of another channel, the Cargo Station contacted me and said I had a package from the mortal world.

The character “Yuan” on the box gleamed with golden light. My heart stirred. When I opened it, I found it packed full of everything I wanted, with an even wider variety than last time.

There were also plenty of types I’d never even seen before.

What kind of god of fortune was Lu Yuan?!

I couldn’t wait to take them all out and put them on the display shelves. That was when I noticed a card pressed down at the very bottom.

Lu Yuan had written it in black pen and burned it over.

His handwriting was strong and forceful: “Next time you ask me for anything, write your user experience into a report and read it to me. No less than eight hundred words per product.”

User experience report?

And no less than eight hundred words?

I took inventory of the number of items Lu Yuan had sent me.

All together, it was basically the length of a full-length novel.

How had I never known Lu Yuan had this kind of kink before?
