Happy Ending With My Yandere Junior Brother Rival - Chapter 3

I don’t know who let the word slip.

The matter of my deliberately pushing Shen Xing into the demon pit and hurting him was reported to the sect leader, and I received punishment from the Hall of Discipline.

I was sentenced to face the wall on Reflection Cliff for three months.

Steep rock walls encircled me on all sides.

A full moon hung high overhead.

I sat on a bluestone platform surrounded by water, bathed in the bright moonlight, my eyes half closed.

“Little senior sister, are you all right?”

A clear, resonant youth’s voice came from before me.

I opened my eyes. Shen Xing was gazing at me from across the water’s edge.

His eyes had been healed by wet compresses made from the Heavenly Water Flower the Master had tended for a hundred years, ground into medicine. They were long since fully recovered.

Tch.

So annoying.

I shut my eyes and simply refused to look at him.

A faint splash rose from the pool. A clear breeze lifted the hair at my temples. Shen Xing, carrying a food box, touched his toes to the water and came walking over the lotus leaves.

The tempting aroma of food curled around my nose.

I drew a deep breath and turned my head away:

“Take it away. I’m not eating.”

“Just eat a little. You’ll get hungry.”

The crisp sound of bluestone meeting porcelain dishes rang out.

Another rustle of water.

The rich aroma of food grew stronger.

I blinked my long lashes and squinted toward it.

But what met my eyes was the youth’s refined, fair face.

Shen Xing seemed to have dived to pick lotus flowers. His black hair was loose, the corners of his eyes wet and red, and he held up an armful of lotuses, offering them to me:

“Flowers for you.

“Don’t be angry, little senior sister.”

His dark eyes were wet and shining, like an abandoned puppy.

And he’d threatened me only a few days ago.

I pressed my lips together slightly and lowered my eyes without a word.

The lotus leaves were emerald; the lotus flowers were elegant.

The youth’s fingers gripping the stems were fair and tender, his fingertips pink.

I wanted to snap his hand off.

Then it wouldn’t be able to pin my waist.

Or threaten me in a low voice.

I forced myself to ignore the malice in my mind and said quietly: “You told the sect leader I hurt you, and got me sentenced to face the wall on Reflection Cliff. Aren’t you happy?”

Why pretend to be the good guy here?

“Senior Sister, it wasn’t me.”

Shen Xing lowered his head, aggrieved.

He thought of that disciple who’d seemed so well-meaning in reporting it, who’d gone on and on about making sure he got justice—yet whose heart was filthy—and the murderous intent was almost impossible to restrain.

He was also confused.

Why hadn’t Senior Sister come to see him these past days.

He was so bored he was about to mold over.

There was even a dark, obscure, improper emotion—one that shouldn’t be there—breeding at the bottom of his heart.

“I’ll apply to the sect leader to lift your confinement.”

As for that disciple—he would never appear before Shen Xing again, and would never hurt Senior Sister again.

“No need.”

I shook my head in refusal.

It was quite nice down here at the bottom of the cliff.

I wouldn’t have to see Shen Xing again, and I wouldn’t get angry either.

And I wouldn’t have to see those senior brothers jockeying jealously for favor.

“You can go. I’m sleepy.”

I lay down with my back to him.

Shen Xing didn’t move, and I couldn’t be bothered to drive him off.

If he liked this place so much, he could face the wall with me.

But my stomach was really painfully empty.

I woke in the middle of the night from hunger and turned my head.

Shen Xing was curled up obediently behind me, his fingertips twined around a strand of my hair, his long lashes softly closed.

If I killed him right now.

Surely no one would find out.

I thought darkly.

Both hands covered his pale, slender throat.

But the youth woke with a start, his pitch-black pupils fixed on me without blinking—cold and eerie.

“Senior Sister, morning.”

He laughed to himself, his expression unreadable.

I looked up at the sky full of stars, withdrew my hands as if by accident, and gave an awkward smile: “Morning.”

Shen Xing sat up, propped his chin on one hand, and looked at me lazily: “Why are you up?”
