Chapter 1

I had transmigrated into a novel as the White Crane Goddess of the Divine Realm.

Not an important character or anything. I was just the Divine Maiden who raised immortal cranes, introduced in the book in a single sentence.

But I never expected that while searching for a lost immortal crane in the Mortal World, I would run into the Son of the Demon King in the middle of his suffering-Ji Buyun, the main villain of this novel.

In the novel, he had to endure eighty-one trials in the human world, hardship after hardship like Tang Monk on his journey to the West, before he could become the Demon King and attack the Divine Realm.

But looking at him now, covered in wounds, a pitiful little boy of only seven years old, I couldn’t help feeling a little too sympathetic.

For the sake of keeping my long-term civil-service job in the Divine Realm, I felt it was necessary to change this future villain’s life.

Under cover of night, I sneaked into the woodshed where Little Ji Buyun was being held. Seeing him lying on a pile of straw, shivering, I took off my outer robe, intending to wrap him up in it and carry him away.

But before I could do anything, Little Ji Buyun suddenly opened his eyes.

Those lacquer-black eyes were filled with terror. He opened his mouth to scream, and in my panic, I reacted by stuffing a piece of candy into his mouth.

Ji Buyun was shocked. Maybe he thought I was poisoning him, because he immediately tried to spit it out-so I reacted by stuffing four more pieces in.

Forget spitting them out. Ji Buyun’s mouth was so packed with candy he couldn’t even move it, and drool started streaming out.

Chapter 2

Right now, Ji Buyun was only a seven-year-old boy, not yet the cold, brutal person described in the book. So after a stranger stuffed his mouth full of candy, he was frightened into tears.

Looking at Ji Buyun, his cheeks bulging with candy as he cried silently, I couldn’t hold back and burst out laughing. Then he cried even harder.

I quickly schooled my expression and made a shushing gesture at him.

In a low voice, I said, “I’m here to save you. Don’t make a sound.”

After he nodded, I reached over and dug the candy out of his mouth. Out of thoughtfulness, I even left him one piece.

Unfortunately, he did not appreciate my thoughtfulness. He spat the last piece out too, like a pea shooter.

Ji Buyun’s eyes were still wet from crying, but the look in them was like that of a small beast-dangerous, wary, and fixed on me.

I said, “Hurry up and come with me. I’m here to rescue you from your suffering.”

He said, “I don’t believe you. You don’t look like a good person.”

I looked at him for a while, then asked, “Are you really not coming with me?”

He shook his head with all his might.

I nodded and rolled up my sleeves.

He trembled in fear and curled in on himself, but his eyes alone glared at me fiercely, as if the moment I dared to do anything to him, he would fight me to the death.

I let out a snort of laughter. Under his guarded stare, I lay down on the ground and began rolling all over the floor like a shameless brat.

“Come with me! Come with me!”

Ji Buyun was dumbstruck.

Seeing that he had no reaction, I rolled even more dramatically. My sleeves flailed so wildly they nearly smacked him in the face.

My voice also rose by several decibels.

Suddenly, a small hand covered my mouth. A trembling young voice, not yet clearly boyish or girlish, rang out.

“Stop rolling around. I’m scared…”

I pulled his hand down and looked at him. “Then you’ll come with me?”

He was just about to hesitate when I flicked out my sleeve, ready to start rolling again. He hurriedly said, “I’ll go! I’ll go!”
