I Raised the Demon King into an Emotionally Stable Love-Struck Fool - Chapter 2
Chapter 3
After I brought Ji Buyun out of the broker house, the first thing he said was that he wanted to go home.
Of course I refused. His own mother was the one who had sold him to the broker house in the first place.
In the novel, seven-year-old Ji Buyun ran back home from the broker house once, only for his mother to sell him all over again.
That kind of damage was basically the emotional equivalent of getting slapped across the face twice.
Being abandoned by his birth mother twice in a row was one of the reasons he eventually became the brutal Demon King.
When he saw that I wouldn’t agree, he asked me why.
Naturally, I couldn’t tell him the truth, so I could only act shameless and say, “No means no.”
To make him give up on the idea, I pressed my lips together and said, “Don’t make me mad, okay? If you make me angry, there’s no telling what I’ll do.”
A chill surfaced on Ji Buyun’s delicate little face. “What do you want to do?”
“I want to make Kung Pao chicken, braised eggplant… Maybe tomorrow morning you’d like tomato and eggs?” I asked, tilting my head.
The subject changed so quickly that Ji Buyun’s eyes filled with confusion.
It took him a long while before he finally said softly, “You really are a strange person.”
Inspiration struck me. “That’s right! Because I’m a strange person, I don’t have any friends. I’m so lonely all by myself!”
“So, Ji Buyun, don’t go back, okay? Please, I’m begging you!” I tugged at my sleeves and whined at him.
His small hand caught my sleeve. “Stop pulling…”
“So you won’t go back?”
“No… Stop pulling first!”
“I want to go back and take a look… I’ll come back tomorrow night… come back and keep you company.” When Ji Buyun said those last few words, his fair little face turned a little red, as if he was embarrassed.
Seeing that he was determined to go back no matter what, I had no choice but to think of another way.
In the book, Mother Ji sold him to pay off the debts of his gambling-addict stepfather.
So when I sent Ji Buyun home, I stuffed a fifty-tael banknote into his hand.
He stared blankly at the banknote for a few seconds.
“You don’t need to spend this much to buy me.”
I scratched my head in confusion.
“Buy you from who?”
Ji Buyun fell silent. He folded the banknote, slowly tucked it into the front of his clothes, then turned and walked toward his home.
Chapter 4
Originally, I’d planned to crouch outside Ji Buyun’s house the entire time to stop his mother from selling her child again. But plans couldn’t keep up with changes. Right before my eyes, the crane I’d lost got caught by a restaurant.
Come on, that was an immortal crane! If they ate it, I’d lose my job!
I glanced in the direction of Ji Buyun’s house.
That money should be enough to pay off the gambling debt, with some left over for them to live properly. That way, they shouldn’t sell Ji Buyun anymore… right?
But I was wrong.
Damn it. I’m an idiot. I didn’t give them enough money!
