Chapter 14

Demonic Cultivators are not tolerated by the righteous path.

Mainly because they are too strong, and the average righteous cultivator can’t beat them.

Sister Lu followed me from a distance with Fifth Senior Brother, watching me as I walked, killing as I went.

I was silent, cold, and my sword never missed its mark.

“They say the techniques of a Demonic Cultivator are cruel and easily cloud one’s mind.”

Fifth Senior Brother leaned against Sister Lu, acting like a delicate bird: “But Miaomiao looks perfectly normal to me.”

Me: “… You’re the last person I want to hear that from. Your love-brain is way crazier than I am!”

“What’s wrong with being a romantic?” Fifth Senior Brother said righteously. “You’re the scary one, with nothing but ‘Second Sister, Second Sister’ in your head!”

Sister Lu was busy finishing off the enemies I’d missed.

She remarked, “Both of you are off your rockers.”

We walked for an hour.

Suddenly, I heard the sounds of fighting again.

“Second Sister!”

I dashed forward, ecstatic. “Sister, I’m here!”

The scene was gruesome, with corpses strewn everywhere.

Second Senior Sister was exhausted, propping herself up with her sword as she faced off against the enemy.

Eldest Senior Brother was unconscious.

Li Miaomiao was also covered in wounds, standing with a group of unfamiliar cultivators.

“That’s her.”

Li Miaomiao was overjoyed when she saw us. She commanded, “Grab that kid. I don’t know where she came from, but she has ties to the Third Elder of the Changhuai Sect. She must have plenty of treasures on her.”

Second Sister was furious, forcing herself to stand. “You dare!”

“Why wouldn’t I dare?” Li Miaomiao sneered. “You all pride yourselves on being from a Righteous Sect, acting so high and mighty, looking down on us Rogue Cultivators who have no sect to call our own.”

“Whenever there are Heavenly Treasures, you insist on keeping a tight grip on them, never letting us have a share.”

“And now, you’re all going to die at the hands of Rogue Cultivators, and your treasures will all belong to us. Isn’t that hilarious?”

I rolled my eyes.

“It’s not funny,” I said, “Auntie.”

Second Senior Sister was at her limit.

She truly couldn’t even stand steadily, yet she roared at us, “Old Fifth, take Miaomiao and run!”

But Fifth Senior Brother just silently backed away.

The Female Lead was livid: “What are you hiding for?!”

He said, “I… I’m afraid the blood will splatter on me in a moment.”

Female Lead: “?!”

In the time it took to exchange those few words, one of the cultivators had already grabbed my shoulder.

I flashed him a smile.

One full of malice.

Like father, like son; like mother, like daughter.

The daughter of a Demonic Cultivator is, naturally, still a Demonic Cultivator.

I struck Li Miaomiao down to the ground, leaving her so stunned she couldn’t speak.

The field was covered in corpses.

I stood before her, looking down from above, my body surging with violent demonic energy.

“You… you…”

Li Miaomiao’s lips trembled. “You’re a Demonic Cultivator, you deserve to die…”

?

Me: “You’re actually pretty funny. You’re supposed to be a righteous cultivator, yet you commit every evil act from murder to robbery, and you don’t think you deserve to die? But I do?”

In the end, the woman snapped.

Driven by some unknown stimulus, she suddenly burst into a fit of crazed laughter.

Li Miaomiao said, “I knew it! I knew your Changhuai Sect was filthy! You already had that scandal where a disciple fell into demonic possession, and now you’re colluding with Demonic Cultivators!”

I kicked her directly.

The sound of bones snapping was crisp.

I said, “Please, old lady, watch your mouth. You’re far more ruthless than I am.”

“I’m just a mere Demonic Cultivator; how could I ever hope to compare to you?”

But she had truly gone mad.

She ranted and raved, pointing at me. “She’s a Demonic Cultivator! Why haven’t you killed her yet?”

Sister Lu said, “What Demonic Cultivator? Where? I don’t see one.”

Fifth Senior Brother added, “Me neither. I don’t see anything.”

“…”

Li Miaomiao fell into utter despair.

She pulled a compass from her robes and smashed it violently against the ground.

Suddenly, a thunderous rumbling echoed nearby as the entire ground began to rise.

None of us could keep our footing and we tumbled to the floor.

This place had been a hidden mechanism all along, and now that it was triggered, the entire underground chamber was being brought back into the light of day.

Just as I stood up and raised my sword to finish her off, a massive wave of force erupted from Li Miaomiao’s body.

She had actually self-detonated her inner core.

I hadn’t expected her to be so ruthless; I took the brunt of the blast head-on.

Seeing me under attack, the Female Lead’s pupils constricted.

Without a second thought, she rushed over and shielded me once again. “Miaomiao! Watch out!”

I had killed many people just now in the darkness.

At the time, my heart had been perfectly calm, as if killing were as simple as eating or drinking.

But now, standing before the Female Lead, I felt as though I had committed some unspeakable crime. I even began to stammer, desperately rubbing my blood-stained hands against my clothes.

However, my robes were already soaked in too much blood; there was no way to wipe them clean.

I was so anxious I began to sweat.

“Sister,” I said, “it’s not what you think. I… I haven’t actually done anything bad.”

The Female Lead said nothing.

She simply reached out and patted my head. “You’ve worked hard.”

“It’s my own lack of ability that failed you.”

On the other side, Li Miaomiao used the last surge of her fading life force to crawl toward the Male Lead.

With trembling hands, she pulled out a packet of medicinal powder and threw it onto his face.

Eldest Senior Brother slowly drifted back to consciousness.

The first thing he saw upon waking was me, covered in Demonic Marks, preparing to kill Li Miaomiao with my sword.

Li Miaomiao glanced at me.

She flashed me a smile.

“Ruan Miaomiao has fallen to the demons,” she wheezed, using every ounce of her remaining strength to die in Eldest Senior Brother’s arms as she had wished. “It was her… she killed everyone!”

Eldest Senior Brother cradled Li Miaomiao’s corpse.

He was shaking. In the next second, he suddenly lunged forward and struck me squarely in the chest with a powerful palm strike!

I had no guard up against him.

I was sent reeling, coughing up blood from the force of the blow.

“It was you?”

“It was actually you!?”

For the first time, Eldest Senior Brother’s voice began to tremble.

The ground was littered with corpses, and I was covered in Demonic Marks.

And Li Miaomiao had just died right before his eyes.

Eldest Senior Brother snapped.

He drew his sword, intent on killing me.

The Female Lead stood in front of me, shouting, “What the hell is wrong with you? It’s not what it looks like!”

“What does it look like?” Eldest Senior Brother sneered. “Can this even be faked? She’s a Demonic Cultivator! A Demonic Cultivator deserves nothing but death!”

His strike had severely injured me. For a moment, I collapsed to the ground, unable to stand.

By now, the rescue parties from the various sects had finally arrived.

Consequently, even more blades and swords were pointed at me.

My chest burned with agonizing pain. I kept coughing up blood in Sister Lu’s arms, unable to say a word.

For some reason, suddenly,

I… I really missed my mother.
