Chapters 2–3

Lu Jiangjiang and I grew up together in an orphanage.

When we transmigrated into this xianxia novel, we were separated. Both of us thought we were the only ones who had ended up here.

When I first opened my eyes, someone was holding me in a crushing embrace. There was a stinging pain in my neck, as if someone were gnawing on it.

I later learned that although I was a mere mortal, my blood was special-it had the power to heal immortal bodies.

I met the Heavenly War God, Qi Zheng, in the Barbarian Wasteland. He brought me back to the Heavenly Realm and turned me into his personal blood bank.

It wasn’t until the Peach Banquet a few years later that I discovered Jiang Jiang.

She was following timidly behind the Heavenly Prince, enduring the cold mockery and ridicule of the crowd.

She had transmigrated into the body of a fox demon.

Upon her arrival, a momentary lapse into softheartedness led her to treat the then-heavily injured Crown Prince Jiefang.

Claiming he wanted to repay her kindness, Jie Fang brought her back to the Heavenly Realm and made her his Concubine.

Between the two of us-one a mortal and the other a naturally weak fox demon-there was no way to escape this place.

Later, we put our heads together and schemed. Estimating that the Female Lead wouldn’t appear for another few hundred years, we decided to spend this time hoarding as many immortal elixirs as possible.

Whether we ate them ourselves or sold them in the mortal realm, both were excellent options.

Once the Female Lead appeared, we would inevitably be discarded. At that point, we would flee with our stash of pills. Surely, no one would care enough to stop us.

While the various immortals were busy marveling at the Female Lead’s divine beauty, Lu Jiangjiang and I were sprawled on the ground, locking eyes.

Finally! We can run!

Chapter 3

However, for some unknown reason, the Female Lead, Qin Zhuang’er, noticed us.

“Why are you two, as fellow cultivators, lying on the ground?”

We both froze.

Immediately, the scorching gazes of the gathered immortals swept over us.

War God Qi Zheng’s frigid eyes landed on me. They were devoid of emotion, yet they somehow made the back of my neck tighten instinctively.

We both coughed awkwardly, helped each other up from the ground, and brushed off our skirts.

A Celestial Maiden chuckled. “You’ve just undergone Ascension, so you don’t recognize them. They are two quite famous figures in our Heavenly Realm. They didn’t have to work hard at cultivation; they just used their connections to ascend to the heavens.”

The Crown Prince and the War God stood there listening, making no move to stop the mockery.

They even turned their heads away slightly, as if afraid this newly ascended pride of the heavens would find out that they were the very “connections” we had used.

Qin Zhuang’er let out a cold snort. “I despise such people most in my life. Where does that leave our fellow Taoists who cultivate so diligently and bitterly?”

The various immortals nodded in agreement.

Lu Jiangjiang secretly rolled her eyes at me, mouthing the words: “Pah!”

As if we actually wanted to be here.

The crowd was so busy sucking up to her that they quickly shifted their attention away from us.

Lu Jiangjiang and I took the opportunity to sneak out again.

We held a temporary emergency meeting in a corner of the wall to discuss how to make the Crown Prince and the War God loathe us enough to let us successfully escape.
