Chapter 104

The smile on Fang Ge’s lips froze for a moment. She awkwardly let go of Yi Shuang’s arm, her gaze drifting to the side as she suppressed the disappointment welling up inside her.

Then, she feigned a casual tone and said, “Yeah, we aren’t dating. But Sister Shuang and I have become good friends-great partners, actually.”

“I see.” Hua Suihe’s mind wasn’t really on them. Hearing the answer, she simply nodded to show she understood.

Through her glasses, Ye Susheng’s location was constantly shifting. Her path was a winding S-shape, but fortunately, the straight-line distance between them was shrinking.

Hua Suihe, unable to do anything about the distance that exceeded her comprehension, could only rest her chin in her hands and stare blankly at the moon in the sky.

The moon in this outer zone remained perfectly still. At this rate, she didn’t know how long it would take to endure until dawn.

Fang Ge pulled a piece of compressed biscuit from her supply bag and handed it to Hua Suihe. “Don’t worry, we’ll stay with you until Ye Susheng finds her way here.”

Hua Suihe shook her head in refusal. “Thank you, but I’m not hungry.”

Fang Ge didn’t mind. She turned and offered it to Yi Shuang. “Do you want some, Boss?”

Yi Shuang’s thoughts were pulled back to the present. She took the biscuit, absentmindedly tore open the packaging, and put it in her mouth, chewing slowly.

Fang Ge handed her a water bottle. “Have some water.”

Yi Shuang looked down at her hand, dazed for another moment before taking the bottle and cradling it in her arms without opening it.

“Sorry,” Yi Shuang’s voice rang out, tinged with apology.

Fang Ge was puzzled. “Why are you apologizing?”

Yi Shuang’s expression became somewhat unnatural. She stuffed the rest of the small biscuit into her mouth, tossed the wrapper into the fire, and hurriedly unscrewed the water bottle to take a drink, her movements appearing frantic.

She used the time it took to swallow the food to compose her emotions. After a long silence, she spoke again. “I’m more than happy to carry you through dungeons and be your friend, but I’m really sorry…”

Fang Ge immediately understood her hesitation. Being considerate, she said, “It’s okay, I understand, Boss. I’ll be a proper ‘carry-on’ and definitely won’t hold you back.”

Yi Shuang felt a bit of a headache coming on. “That’s not what I meant.”

Fang Ge avoided Yi Shuang’s gaze, busily pulling out the coat she had just put away and hugging it. Her tone remained light as she replied, “I know, I know. It’s fine, really. Don’t worry about it.”

The reason Yi Shuang apologized was that Fang Ge had found her in the real world and confessed her feelings. At the time, Yi Shuang had strictly rejected her. Fang Ge hadn’t seemed to care much, even suggesting they just be friends. Yi Shuang couldn’t quite read her mind, so she had treated the confession as a joke. After Fang Ge took the initiative to stay in touch, the two had spent many days together and become friends.

Bringing it up so suddenly today had stirred up Yi Shuang’s memories, making her feel a bit awkward.

Fang Ge shook out the dusty cotton coat. “I’m a little sleepy. Can I wrap myself up and sleep for a while?”

Yi Shuang stared deeply into her eyes. Seeing no unusual emotions, she nodded. “Go ahead. It has been a long day.”

The confrontation between Ye Susheng and the imposter had forced all the players to exhaust their Teleportation Talismans to get as far away as possible.

Ye Susheng had used her points to exchange for the longest-range Teleportation Cards and had burned through ten of them. She hadn’t expected that because she had ventured deep into an undeveloped area, the teleportation distance would glitch out, sending her much further than anticipated.

However, since there were no dangerous creatures here, it was a good chance to rest for the night. Tomorrow, she would just use more talisman cards to start heading back.

Fang Ge wrapped her head and upper body in her coat and lay quietly on the sand, her back turned to Yi Shuang.

As for Hua Suihe, she sat alone on the other side, some distance from the fire. She was whispering something under her breath, appearing to be in conversation with someone.

Hua Suihe indeed hadn’t been paying attention to what Yi Shuang and Fang Ge were saying. Instead, she had moved away to check what was in her Gift Bar.

Her current streaming level was 7. Aside from the hidden gifts that hadn’t been unlocked yet, she had opened most of them.

She found a gift that might be useful to her and was currently talking to Gu Gu, asking her to send it as a donation.
But right now, Gu Gu was throwing a tantrum, and the other whales were just watching the drama unfold. For a moment, every fan in the livestream was focused on the exchange between Hua Suihe and Gu Gu.

[Gu Gu: Why didn’t you save your most expensive gift for me? You know those big gifts can only be tipped once per dungeon! Am I not your bestie anymore?]

Hua Suihe felt helpless. “Wuqi was the one who sent it. Isn’t Wuqi your wife? Don’t you two share a wallet?”

[Gu Gu: I do NOT share a wallet with her!]

Hua Suihe let out a dry chuckle. It seemed this little couple was having yet another spat.

In the past, she could have mediated via private messages on WeChat, but now that they were across dimensions, she was stuck. They could only talk through the livestream chat in front of over a hundred thousand people; it wasn’t exactly the place for private matters.

Previously, when she needed Gu Gu’s help to find a technician to modify the code for Ye Susheng’s refresh coordinates, they’d had to use all sorts of secret codes to communicate. It had been exhausting.

Given the current situation, the netizens in the chat were already piecing together the gossip from these few snippets.

Banter aside, the fans in the livestream still cared about Hua Suihe’s survival. Fearing that a few wrong words might provoke Gu Gu into leaving, they flooded the screen with doge emojis.

“Sister Wuqi, I know you’re there. Hurry up and coax her.”

[Wuqi: I’m not coaxing her. She’s the one in the wrong.]

[Gu Gu: You dare say you’re not wrong?]

[Wuqi: What did I do wrong? Hua Hua is also my Streamer Bae. What’s wrong with me sending a gift?]

[Gu Gu: I don’t see you around usually! Why are you so energetic today?]

Hua Suihe closed her eyes wearily. Great, the whale couple of the livestream was having a full-blown argument.

Hua Suihe called out to the other person who was silently enjoying the show: “Brother Zimu, let them fight. You take care of me.”

[Zimu: I don’t have a partner. Suddenly, I feel so heartbroken, so sad, so lost…]

Hua Suihe: …

Sometimes, when a person is truly speechless, they can only laugh. Brother Zimu was in his thirties and had been single since birth, a man whose life motto was ‘singlehood brings luck,’ yet here he was saying such things just to join the fun.

Forget it. If she could, she’d reach a hand back into the real world and tip herself.

Fortunately, Brother Zimu came through for once. Hua Suihe didn’t ask for much: just one Random Teleport and a bunch of High-Altitude Fireworks.

When Brother Zimu started gifting, Wuqi and Gu Gu stopped fighting because Gu Gu immediately spammed ninety-nine High-Altitude Fireworks one by one.

Damn. Luckily, the fireworks were cheap and didn’t have a limit on how many could be sent.

Hua Hua wanted one Random Teleport; Brother Zimu sent ten, which was the limit for this dungeon.

[Zimu: I don’t know how far a Random Teleport can go. If Ye Susheng is half an equator away from you, one probably won’t be enough.]

Hua Suihe was deeply moved. Her voice trembled slightly as she spoke in an exaggeratedly dramatic tone, “Brother Zimu, your kindness is as vast as the ocean. This little lady shall repay you in the next life~”

[Zimu: …]

[Gu Gu: ╭(╯^╰)╮]

[Wuqi: ┓( ´∀` )┏]

[This is too sweet. For a second, I almost forgot that the money being spent is actual money.]

[To them, this bit of money isn’t even enough for a single meal. They probably think a little thing like Hua Hua is easy to keep fed.]

[Zimu: I don’t think that way. Hua is a gold-swallowing beast. I need to go work harder at moving bricks now.]

Hua Suihe looked at the unclaimed gifts in her inventory and finally felt at ease.

She glanced at Ye Susheng’s location. She was still fifteen thousand kilometers away. That movement speed was just absurd.

Hua Suihe went back to sit beside Yi Shuang and said to her, “I’m going to find Ye Susheng now. I wanted to let you guys know so you don’t worry about me.”

Hua Suihe pointed toward the edge of the desert. “The Inner Domain is that way. It’s very far from here, but you should have a way to get there. I’ll be heading out first.”

“Are you okay on your own?”

Yi Shuang was worried about her. If something happened to Hua Hua, this dungeon could end in a total wipeout; Fang Ge hadn’t saved up enough points to exchange for a revival card yet.

Hua Suihe nodded. “Don’t worry. Goodbye…”

Her voice faded along with her silhouette as she vanished from Yi Shuang’s sight.
