Chapter 121

Facing the questioning, Ye Susheng’s eyes darted around, not daring to meet her gaze. Her fingers twisted together as she lowered her head, not daring to make a sound.

Hua Suihe wasn’t actually interrogating her; she just found it strange. She had been completely oblivious to this. Was it because she hadn’t been paying enough attention to Ye Susheng? Hiss… was she the one who should be feeling guilty?

“When did this happen? I didn’t notice at all. Was it right in front of me?”

At this point, Ye Susheng couldn’t lie anymore. She nodded timidly. “Several times. When I was issuing tasks at the Yu Sheng Troupe workstation, and a few times inside dungeons. They were all right in front of Hua Hua.”

Ye Susheng was eager to prove herself. “But I didn’t hurt Hua Hua. At most, I was just a bit quieter.”

Hua Suihe tried hard to recall Ye Susheng’s silent moments. However, her memory failed her; she truly hadn’t noticed.

Hua Suihe was curious about what she had been thinking back then. “So when you forgot me, what did you think when you saw me? Did it feel weird when I was intimate with you?”

Ye Susheng didn’t dare mention her actual internal reactions at the time. She spoke earnestly, trying to stay in her good graces. “When Hua Hua approached me, my body accepted it naturally. I didn’t recognize Hua Hua, but I liked it when Hua Hua hugged me.”

Hua Suihe narrowed her eyes. Even though Ye Susheng looked perfectly sincere, she was still a bit skeptical.

But it was in the past now. This wasn’t a criminal investigation, and there was no use dwelling on it.

“Alright then.”

“Mm-hmm!” Ye Susheng’s mood brightened. “That’s why I can’t mutate whenever I want. If it happens too often, it’ll become harder and harder to control.”

Hua Suihe fell into thought, only nodding slowly after a long silence. “Then you definitely shouldn’t do it recklessly.”

Hua Suihe gathered her thoughts and cleared the empty bowls from the table, putting them into the dishwasher in the kitchen.

Ye Susheng followed her, watching her work. “Hua Hua, I’m going back to work tomorrow. I have to go to the troupe workstation in the morning to issue tasks. Should I take Hua Hua with me?”

“Yes.”

Hua Suihe’s tone didn’t hold a hint of hesitation. She didn’t want to remember how difficult her last trip had been-the subways were locked down, she couldn’t get a taxi, and the whole journey had been an exhausting ordeal.

Hua Suihe poked her arm. “You suddenly wanting to go back to work… is it because of me?”

“Yes. If Hua Hua enters a dungeon alone, then I can’t be with Hua Hua. I can’t accept that.”

Worrying about Hua Hua’s safety and wanting to overthrow the Thriller rules were secondary reasons. Her primary motivation was simply wanting to be with Hua Hua every second; she would get anxious if she lost sight of her for even a moment.

Hua Suihe’s eyes filled with a smile. “Fine, you clingy thing~”

The two stayed home all day without going out. In the afternoon, just as they were thinking about going out to buy groceries for dinner, Fang Ge contacted Hua Suihe and invited her out to eat.

Ye Susheng voiced her opposition, sounding dissatisfied. “What’s so good about eating with her?”

More importantly, this was a human activity zone. She was essentially non-existent there, a literal invisible person. Wouldn’t that just turn into Hua Hua and Fang Ge having a private dinner?

Hua Suihe didn’t see the problem. “It’s normal to have dinner, afternoon tea, or hang out with friends. I haven’t had a meal with her yet, and the address she gave is nearby. It’s no big deal to go.”

Ye Susheng’s lip pouted high. “Hua Hua just wants to eat with her.”

“We’re going together. Aren’t you going to accompany me?”

“I didn’t say that. I’m going too.” Seeing that her mind was made up, Ye Susheng knew that further interference would make her look petty-even if she truly wasn’t the most generous person.

“Why is she asking you out for dinner anyway? Why doesn’t she ask that guy named Yi?”
Hua Suihe shook her head, indicating she didn’t understand; such things were beyond her scope of concern. However, the hot pot restaurant she had booked had excellent reviews online.

Since she was going out to eat, she decided to dress up a bit. She could take some photos before the meal to update that social media account she hadn’t posted on in a long time.

After getting ready, she took Ye Susheng by the hand and headed out, choosing a modest mode of transport-the subway.

Thirty minutes later, they arrived at the hot pot restaurant. Following the server to the table Fang Ge had reserved, they found her already seated.

Seeing Hua Suihe arrive alone, Fang Ge greeted her excitedly. “Peanut, you’re here! I just got here a moment ago and haven’t ordered yet. Take a look and see what you like.”

As Hua Suihe sat down, she made space for Ye Susheng, letting her sit directly across from Fang Ge.

But Fang Ge couldn’t see her. Seeing Hua Suihe sit off to the side, she looked a bit confused. “Are you being that strict? Are you sitting away from me because you’re afraid your wife will get jealous?”

“Huh? No,” Hua Suihe said nonchalantly. “I’m letting her sit here.”

Fang Ge’s smile stiffened slightly. Looking at the empty seat in front of her, she was momentarily at a loss for words. “She… she’s here?”

“Yeah. I know you can’t see her, but she doesn’t talk much, so don’t mind her. Just set out a pair of bowls and chopsticks for her so we can eat together. I’ll pay for two portions later.”

“No, no, it’s fine. I said I’d treat you to dinner, so there’s no need to give me money.” Fang Ge was a bit stiff; she tried her best to ignore the fact that Ye Susheng was present as she handed the ordering tablet to Hua Suihe. “See what you’d like to eat.”

Hua Suihe checked off a few items with the stylus and handed it back before asking, “Didn’t you invite Yi Shuang?”

Fang Ge sighed, her mood dipping. “She wouldn’t come.”

“Why? Does she live far away?”

“No, she’s just flat-out avoiding me.”

Hua Suihe was even more puzzled. “Did you two have a falling out?”

“No, she’s just afraid I’ll confess my feelings to her.”

Hua Suihe paused for a moment, then realized. “Oh, you’re pursuing her.”

“I wouldn’t dare pursue her right now. I don’t even know if she’s straight, bi, or gay. Ever since the last time…” Recalling the past incident that had scared her off, Fang Ge shook her head helplessly. “Forget it, let’s not talk about it. Part of the reason I asked you out was to ask for advice. How did you and Ye Susheng start dating?”

Hua Suihe glanced at Ye Susheng beside her, then back at Fang Ge’s inquisitive gaze. With a hint of embarrassment, she said, “The process of how we met and fell in love can’t really be replicated. It doesn’t have much reference value.”

“There’s no process? You couldn’t have just ended up together for no reason.”

Ye Susheng let out a cold snort. “You’re the one who’s inexplicable.”

She knew Fang Ge couldn’t hear her, but she felt the need to retort whenever someone questioned her relationship with Hua Hua.

Hua Suihe took the opportunity to take her hand and squeeze her fingers, signaling her not to be angry.

She thought of a description that was easier to understand. “Ye Susheng and I met online. We had an online relationship for six months before meeting in person, and we’ve been together ever since.”

Fang Ge’s lips twitched in shock. After a moment, she nodded vigorously. “You are incredible.”

An online relationship that actually led to Ye Susheng… No, the idea that Ye Susheng could find the time for an online romance while she was busy slaughtering everyone in a dungeon…

No, the image of Ye Susheng calling someone ‘baby’ over a phone for half a year before meeting in person just felt incredibly wrong.

This truly was impossible to replicate. She accepted that.

“I wish you two a long and happy life together.”
