Ye Susheng rolled her eyes and asked, “Hua Hua, do you want to eat?”

“I’m not eating. I had lunch before I came.”

Ye Susheng responded enthusiastically, “Then let’s go to a restaurant! There’s a beef rice noodles place on campus that’s really good. I want to eat there.”

Ye Susheng took Hua Suihe to the much-talked-about beef rice noodles shop. The shop wasn’t big, with six tables in total. Since it wasn’t mealtime, the place was empty.

After they entered, the shop owner welcomed them warmly.

The shop was tidy enough, but the scent of incense was so strong that it almost masked the smell of beef.

“Order whatever you’d like.”

Ye Susheng ordered a bowl of the signature beef rice noodles. The owner glanced at Hua Suihe with a meaningful look. “What about you, beautiful? What would you like?”

Hua Suihe shook her head. “I’m good, just make the one she ordered.”

The owner cheerfully told them to have a seat and returned to the kitchen.

Through the small serving window, they could see him slicing beef, giving a generous portion – half a bowl full.

He brought it over and set it in front of Ye Susheng. Steam rose from the bowl, but there were hardly any noodles, just a whole bowl of meat.

But the color of the cooked beef was still somewhat bright.

It was, in the truest sense, the first time Hua Suihe had watched Ye Susheng eat. She was surprisingly picky – eating only the meat and not a single noodle. Hua Suihe wasn’t even sure if she was chewing – she just wolfed everything down.

In the end, only a bowl of red tomato soup was left.

Ye Susheng elegantly wiped her mouth with a napkin. “I’m full.”

“Then let’s go,” Hua Suihe said, taking out some cash and placing it at the register. “Here’s the payment, boss.”

The two of them walked along the tree-lined avenue, not stopping any of the passing little green motorized carts.

Ye Susheng rubbed her stomach. The meat she’d just eaten wasn’t very fresh – who knew how long it had been frozen? To make it look fresh, they even put ice cubes in the soup.

Frozen meat – truly unappetizing.

Another delicate, pale hand covered hers, and she heard the person beside her ask with concern, “Is your stomach upset?”

Ye Susheng turned her hand over and interlaced her fingers with Hua Suihe’s, smiling cheerfully. “No~ I just ate a bit too much.”

“You don’t usually eat with me, and when you cook for me, you never make a portion for yourself.”

“I didn’t use to eat at all.”

Being assigned the task of making a love lunchbox for Hua Hua was a real headache for her. On one hand, she needed to cheat; on the other, she had to hide what she actually ate from Hua Hua.

That meant she’d have to keep up the act for another 29 days. Today, she’d already ruled out sashimi. Tomorrow’s meal would need to be made more plausible.

So hard.

A trace of worry appeared between Ye Susheng’s brows.

Hua Suihe turned to ask her, “Have you ever tried cooking for yourself before?”

“No.”

Their interlocked hands swung back and forth. Hua Suihe squeezed her knuckles, her voice gentle as if she were confessing her feelings: “Maybe it’s because you’ve never tried. The meals you make for me are always super delicious, so from now on, you should make a portion for yourself too.”

“Let’s not go to that beef rice noodles shop again.”

Ye Susheng slowed her steps by half a beat, her heart skipping as sudden nervousness set in – did Hua Hua notice something off just now?

“That beef rice noodles has no real aroma, the ingredients aren’t authentic, and the beef isn’t good.”

Seeing that Ye Susheng didn’t respond, Hua Suihe tugged at her arm again. “Did you hear me? You’ll be working here for a month, so you can’t sneak off to eat there again.”

Ye Susheng’s eyes flickered. She pressed her lips together and gave a dry “Mm.”

[Late, I’m late! Hua Hua, I’m coming!]

[Huh? The tipping feature is on now, we can send gifts.]

[What do these gifts mean? 1888 to tip for survival skills? What’s that, let’s try sending one.]
[Special Opportunity 1888? Send one.]

[The big spenders in Hua Suihe’s livestream are still as wild as ever, but why do these gifts go dark after being sent just once?]

After the previous stream, Hua Suihe (nicknamed ‘Hua Hua’ and ‘Hua Sheng’)’s livestream reappeared on the video app, and the popularity immediately shot up.

After all, the stream had been offline for two days. No one could find a trace of it-it was as if it had vanished into thin air, only to suddenly reappear now.

Everyone was certain the person in the stream was Hua Suihe, so the fans of the Hua Sheng account were especially diligent, camping out to wait for the next broadcast.

Whenever the stream started, Hua Suihe would get a notification, so she saw the familiar names in the chat sending her gifts.

She almost instinctively opened her mouth to thank them for the gifts.

Hua Suihe bit her lip and looked away.

Apart from not being cashable, what use are these gifts, really?

[Congratulations, player, you have received a reward-Special Opportunity and Survival Skill will now be combined for you. Current scenario detected: Free School. Drawing your survival identity-Etiquette Teacher for the Youth Class, assignment duration: one month, salary: 30,000 RMB.]

“How much?” Hua Suihe wondered if she’d misheard, speaking with the system in her mind, “Will that money really be paid to me? Can I actually use it?”

[Salary payment method-weekly, in cash.]

In an instant, Hua Suihe was dazzled by thoughts of money, her eyes sparkling as she tightly gripped Su Sheng (nicknamed ‘Ye’)’s hand, nearly jumping up from excitement. “Ye, where’s the Youth Class in the school? I’ll go teach them! Wait, I mean, how do I get the job? I want to be their etiquette teacher.”

Su Sheng’s expression tightened slightly. “Why do you suddenly want to do this?”

“It’s a system-assigned mission-substitute for a month, and the salary is-” Hua Suihe held up three fingers, brimming with enthusiasm, then deliberately added, “ten-thousand!”

Su Sheng’s smile froze on her lips, a hint of darkness and anxiety flickering in her eyes.

Damn scenario system-it could issue tasks to Hua Suihe directly, even bypassing her. She’d already assigned a task to Hua Suihe, so why did something like this still happen?

Noticing Su Sheng’s unhappiness, Hua Suihe quickly collected her excitement, her dark eyes tinged with concern. “What’s wrong? Are you upset?”

“The salary is paid weekly, and it’s a lot.” Hua Suihe gently stroked her face. “Are you worried I’ll get tired from work? Not at all-it’s etiquette class! As far as I know, there are at most two classes a week.”

“It’s basically free money.”

Hua Suihe kissed her cheek. “I want to work. If we’re both working here, we’ll get more time together.”

Su Sheng was persuaded. Her expression softened, and she sealed the promise with a kiss on Hua Suihe’s lips. “I’ll take you to get registered.”

Because this identity came directly from the game system, the onboarding process went smoothly, and soon Hua Suihe had her substitute teaching badge in hand.

She also received her class schedule, which matched her guess: two classes a week-one on Tuesday morning (that is, tomorrow), and one on Friday afternoon, each an hour and a half long.

This was the teaching building, and there were plenty of students moving about outside.

Someone suddenly rushed past, knocking the work badge from Hua Suihe’s hand.

She glanced at the person hurrying away-it was a child not even up to her shoulder.

She didn’t think much of it, crouched down, and picked up her badge.

Hua Suihe didn’t notice that the child’s chest had been pierced by a grappling hook.

Forced to a halt, the child turned back to glare fiercely at Su Sheng. The grappling hook embedded in its body morphed into a tangle of frenzied threads, instantly devouring its body, leaving behind only an empty skin, limp like a shriveled balloon.

This kid was rebellious; before Hua Suihe started teaching, a little discipline was still needed.
