Marry the NPC with Money, Wife Comes Knocking - Chapter 22
“Achoo!” Hua Suihe stood up and rubbed her nose.
Hearing her sneeze, Ye Susheng immediately snatched the work badge from her hand and grabbed her wrist to check. The black Plague Worm had already crawled into her veins.
Hua Suihe was completely unaware. Seeing Susheng’s troubled expression, she was a bit puzzled. “What’s wrong?”
The child, his skeleton hollowed out, flattened like cardboard. Seeing his prank succeed, he wore a malicious grin and slipped away while Susheng was distracted.
In her anxiety, Susheng condensed black mist into a fine needle, trying to guide it into Hua Suihe’s body to extract the Plague Worm.
“Hss-” Hua Suihe jerked her hand away as if she’d been shocked. “Whoa, did needles grow out of your hand?”
Seeing this, Susheng completely panicked. Hua Hua was just a fragile human. If the Plague Worm had entered her veins, Hua Hua would be tormented by sickness and die.
But Susheng only knew how to kill, not how to heal. If she recklessly searched for the Plague Worm inside Hua Suihe, something could easily go wrong.
The thought brought a wave of terror crashing over her. Her eyes reddened instantly, and tears welled up in streams, sliding down her cheeks and dripping onto Hua Suihe’s wrist. “Hua Hua… waaah! I don’t want Hua Hua to die!”
Ye Susheng was completely at a loss. “I’ll go catch it, I’ll go catch it-Hua Hua, wait for me…”
Her eyes, stained with tears, turned crimson again. Hua Suihe reached up to wipe away her tears; the dampness left on her fingers turned into red ink.
“Susheng…”
Ye Susheng teleported away. She had to go after the child who planted the worm.
Hua Suihe lowered her gaze to the bloodstains in her palm. If she kept crying like this, what if she ruined her eyes?
She didn’t even know why she’d suddenly started crying, or who Susheng was going to catch. Susheng had been so anxious that she teleported away before Hua Suihe could even say a word.
She sneezed again, feeling her whole body heating up.
[Guys, did Susheng just teleport?]
[I also saw the kid who ran into Hua Hua flatten out, like a piece of cardboard, and then disappear too.]
[Hua Hua’s sneezed twice now, and the flush on her face doesn’t look normal. Is she getting sick?]
[Wishing good health – 18888!]
[Sending a tip for Hua Hua’s health!]
[Eighteen thousand just spent like that, Gu Gu is true love.]
Hua Suihe pressed her cheeks with both hands, feeling her body temperature fall back down.
“Hua Sheng?” A strange yet familiar male voice called from behind her.
Hua Suihe turned to see a man who looked somewhat familiar, though she couldn’t recall his name.
“It’s really you! It’s me, Water Cube.” Water Cube immediately walked up to chat with her.
“We met in the last instance, do you remember me?”
“Mm, do you need something?” Hearing the name, Hua Suihe had some impression, but the two of them hadn’t really interacted. She didn’t understand why he was being so friendly.
“No, just wanted to say hi.” Hua Suihe was easy to recognize – beautiful, with her signature long pink hair, and her current outfit made her stand out even more.
In the last instance, after Fang Ge saved him, he’d been too weak to crawl into Room 107, but at least he survived. He spent points to get a talisman to hide his presence and hid in another empty room until dawn.
Although he didn’t get any victory points, at least he survived and didn’t have to use his 10,000-point Revival Card.
“Class is about to start, you shouldn’t stand here any longer. You can’t be late.” He was here for class, and seeing Hua Suihe standing dazedly, he came over to remind her.
Hua Suihe smiled politely. “Thank you, I’m waiting for someone. You go to class.”
Water Cube glanced at his watch-only five minutes left. His expression changed in an instant. “We’re out of time.”
“Who are you waiting for? If you wait any longer, you’ll miss it.”
Hua Suihe found him a bit noisy, but still explained politely, “It’s fine, I’m not going to class. You go ahead.”
“You’re not going to class?!” Water Cube exclaimed. “Didn’t you read the rules carefully? If you skip class, you’ll die.”
Since Hua Suihe had survived the last instance, she clearly had some skills. Water Cube quickly weighed the risks and decided he couldn’t let Hua Suihe die just for being late. Without hesitation, he grabbed her and ran toward the stairs of the teaching building, dragging her all the way up to the third floor.
“Hey! Don’t pull me!”
He was too strong, and with time running out, Hua Suihe couldn’t shake him off. Running up the stairs in high heels, she was worried she’d trip and twist her ankle.
“Seriously, why are you dragging me? Are you crazy?” She could only urge him to let go, but Water Cube wouldn’t listen. He pulled Hua Suihe into the classroom with three minutes to spare-almost exactly on time, but at least they weren’t late.
Once inside, Water Cube finally released her hand and found himself a seat.
Hua Suihe didn’t even bother to roll her eyes; she just wanted to hurry back downstairs. If Ye Susheng couldn’t find her soon, she’d get worried.
“Bang!” The teacher slammed the textbook on the podium, stopping Hua Suihe with a stern tone. “You in the back, find a seat and sit down. No moving around during class.”
The classroom door closed automatically, though there was no wind.
Hua Suihe was exasperated. This was ridiculous!
She tried to explain, “Teacher, I’m not a student in your class. I went to the wrong room.”
“Sit down! This is a general class. If you’re here, you have to listen.” The teacher’s voice was so cold it echoed harshly from speakers around the lecture hall-a jarring surround sound.
It was indeed a big class, the seats packed with at least a hundred students.
But she really didn’t want to attend. She wasn’t a student, and she didn’t even have her work badge-Ye Susheng had just taken it.
She tried turning the door handle, but it seemed welded shut. There was no way to open it.
Damn this lousy game model. Once class starts, you’re not allowed to wander. So the task lock is enforced, huh?
Damn Water Cube-thanks a lot for nothing.
Yi Shuang tugged her into an empty seat in the back row and whispered, “Class has started. Don’t go against the teacher.”
The consequence of Hua Suihe being forced to stay in class was…
When Ye Susheng rushed back downstairs, clutching an ugly, writhing long worm, she looked around but couldn’t find any sign of Hua Suihe.
Ye Susheng’s pupils dilated instantly. Panic and terror caused the black mist around her to spill out uncontrollably, enveloping the entire teaching building.
With one hand, she lifted the long worm. Under the violent pressure of her psychic power, the worm writhed in agony, its head morphing into a child’s face, all its teeth shattered, green blood seeping from its body.
Ye Susheng’s scarlet eyes pushed out all the whites, and bright red blood spilled from her sockets as she went completely manic. “Where did you hide my Hua Hua?!”
“I told you… the Plague Worm on her died before you found me… I don’t know, I really don’t…”
“I really don’t know…” The child was tortured until he could barely be called a worm anymore, stammering weakly, nearly in tears but unable to cry.
The Plague Worm inside her was already dead. Either the host had died, or the Plague Worm had been cleared.
It had thought Ye Susheng was incredibly powerful, and just as it sensed the Plague Worm die, Ye Susheng found it.
At that moment, it felt as if the sky was collapsing. Now that her girlfriend was missing, the sky truly had fallen.
