Chapter 51

[I’m declaring Hua Hua the bravest woman alive!]

[So that kid called Chai Chai was already dead? The one talking to Hua Hua was actually a ghost?!]

[Yeah, I saw him turn transparent. Hua Hua couldn’t see him though.]

[By the way… does Hua Hua still not know that Susheng isn’t human?]

On the way back, Hua Suihe stayed quiet, her brows and eyes shadowed with a faint trace of worry.

When they reached the place with the sinks, Ye Susheng pulled off her gloves and tossed them straight into the trash, then squeezed out some hand soap for Hua Suihe before starting to scrub the dirt off her own hands.

Hua Suihe rubbed her hands together, her eyes blankly fixed on the faucet, staring off into space.

Only when Ye Susheng had finished washing her own hands did she step back over to help Hua Suihe clean between her fingers as well, even carefully scrubbing out the dirt under her nails.

Once their hands were washed, she pulled some paper towels to dry them off, then sprayed on disinfectant.

Hua Suihe hadn’t said a word to her the whole way back. Uneasy and on edge, Ye Susheng finally couldn’t hold it in any longer. “Hua Hua, is there anything you want to ask me?”

Hua Suihe came back to herself and looked over. “Ask you what?”

Ye Susheng’s index fingers twisted together without her noticing. She met Hua Suihe’s gaze, her voice cautious and tentative. “Anything Hua Hua wants to know, I’ll tell you everything.”

Hua Suihe let out a breath, took her hand, and led her toward the main hall. “That’s exactly what I’m worrying about right now. The man-eating rose incident is dealt with, but how are we supposed to explain all those missing people?”

Ye Susheng faltered for a second, as if she didn’t quite understand what Hua Suihe meant. She could only follow along on instinct, her feet moving to keep pace.

She’d thought Hua Hua’s silence on the way back was because of Chai Chai-or because of her.

Maybe Hua Hua had questions. Like why Chai Chai was dead but still appearing in front of her. That question could even be traced back to why Chai Chai was able to attend school in the first place.

And the answer to that would definitely be beyond common sense, something even the idea of “ghosts” couldn’t fully explain.

Chai Chai himself was a small matter. What Ye Susheng was more afraid of was Hua Hua finding out that she wasn’t human either-and that once Hua Hua knew the truth, she’d be afraid of her.

But Hua Hua hadn’t asked anything at all.

She took it as the story having skipped that beat in the script, and that it was time to start planning for the next event.

Hua Hua really was head over heels for her.

Suppressing the upward curl of her lips, Ye Susheng tightened her hold around that soft, warm hand. Even her footsteps turned buoyant with her good mood; her long skirt swayed with every step, making it look like she was dancing.

“Hua Hua~ Hua Hua, Hua Hua~”

Ye Susheng then answered Hua Suihe’s earlier question. “Hua Hua, tomorrow night, all the missing people will come back. You can just tell everyone the truth then~”

By the time they reached the banquet hall, lunch had long since ended. The thirty-eight people there had been craning their necks, waiting anxiously for their return.

The moment they saw the two of them come out, questions started flying from all directions.

“Second Young Miss Hua, has the man-eating rose problem been resolved? Will that monster still attack people?”

“Second Young Miss Hua, was all of this Mr. Zhuang’s doing? What is he trying to accomplish?”

“Second Young Miss Hua…”

A flood of different questions drowned each other out as the hall grew noisier and noisier.

Hua Suihe pressed at her temples, helplessness creeping into her voice. “Quiet down for a moment.”

Standing behind her, Ye Susheng let the black mist seep out from her body, a sharp oppressive aura flooding the entire space.

Armed suppression-highly effective. Everyone instantly fell silent, not daring to make a sound.

Hua Suihe said, “In order to raise the Four Seasons Ever-Blooming Rose, Mr. Zhuang used human blood as nourishment. As the monster grew stronger, the blood supply became insufficient, which led to the man-eating rose incidents.”

“The butler and I have already dealt with it today. There won’t be any more attacks from the roses. After dinner, everyone can go back to their rooms and rest at ease.”
“As for the people who were injured, our Manor’s bodyguards have already taken them for treatment. They’ll be back tomorrow night.”

Hua Suihe hadn’t seen with her own eyes how the roses hurt anyone. She’d only seen the number of people around her dwindling, and every guest she asked swore the roses had eaten them.

But Ye Susheng told her those people were only injured. They’d already been taken to the Manor’s designated Medical Point for treatment. Just minor wounds. They would be back tomorrow night.

So Hua Suihe relayed that to the guests.

She had no idea that, to the players who had personally watched the roses chew off heads and rip out hearts and lungs, her words sounded like a horror movie spilling into reality.

After that, they must have been absolutely dead.

So whatever came back tomorrow night… what kind of monster would it be?

The players present, after hearing Hua Suihe’s explanation, had already received the notification that the main quest was complete.

But that last sentence buried a landmine anyway. No one was going to sleep soundly.

No one except Ye Susheng and Hua Suihe.

After dinner, the two of them strolled back to the lodging area, unhurried.

Hua Suihe’s clothes still smelled faintly of dust. As soon as she got back to her room, she grabbed a change of clothes and went into the bathroom to shower.

Ye Susheng was a respawn-type monster. She’d never needed to bathe; the moment she entered the room, her everyday sleepwear refreshed onto her.

There was no need to go out tonight. Ye Susheng could stay with Hua Hua all night.

Half an hour later, Hua Suihe came out of the bathroom.

“Hua Hua~” Ye Susheng stood waiting by the bathroom door. The instant Hua Suihe opened it and stepped out, she moved in to meet her.

Ye Susheng liked Hua Hua best right after a shower-wrapped in a hazy warmth, skin pale with a soft blush, her whole body giving off that clean, sweet fragrance Ye Susheng found most irresistible.

Hua Suihe combed her damp hair back with one hand and tilted her head toward Ye Susheng. Her bright eyes were like a full moon, reflecting Ye Susheng’s silhouette.

Hua Hua’s eyes weren’t like hers. Ye Susheng’s pupils were like pools of blood-when she used those eyes to stare at humans while she was working, everyone feared her.

But Hua Hua didn’t.

Hua Suihe wore a white slip nightdress. By comparison, Ye Susheng’s dark green satin pajama set looked especially conservative.

Hua Suihe lifted her arms to hug her, tipping her chin up to press a kiss to Ye Susheng’s neck, almost plastering herself against her.

Ye Susheng caught her steady, but her hands didn’t know where to rest. They hovered along Hua Suihe’s back before settling-one hand bracing her back, the other at the nape of her neck.

She lowered her head, found Hua Suihe’s lips, and kissed her.

Hua Suihe looped her arms around Ye Susheng’s neck, meeting the kiss and savoring the sweetness of the moment.

“Hua Hua…” The whisper slipped out between their pressed lips and teeth, only to be swallowed by the lingering tangle of tongues. Ye Susheng’s tightening embrace seemed to lay bare her unsated desire.

The black mist slipped out of its main body again, happily clinging to Hua Suihe’s back, her wrists, her ankles.

The black mist coiled around her ankle and, as if it knew the route by heart, began winding upward again.

Hua Suihe opened her eyes. Through her half-lidded gaze, she saw the black smoke wrapped around her wrist like two flowing bracelets, splitting into thin strands that threaded through her fingers and brushed her fingertips.

That strange sensation on her legs… so it was this weird thing.

Ye Susheng was still immersed in the kiss, completely unaware that the overly eager black mist had already exposed itself in Hua Suihe’s sight.

[Oh my god, oh my god, oh my god-Hua Hua opened her eyes! Hua Hua saw it! Evil Black Mist exposed!]

[So satisfying! My CP is kissing this hard!]

[Will there be a bed scene, babe? Hehehehehe~]
