Moonlight Suspense - Chapter 3
Chapter 3
The moment I stepped out of the Demon Sect’s gates, I felt someone following me.
I immediately cast an Invisibility Spell.
The next second, a little girl dressed all in pink came running out, craning her neck as she looked around.
She was the child Ji Ruyin had entrusted to my care before she died.
How could Hong Xiao fail to keep an eye on even a child?
I crouched behind her and waited until she was so anxious she was practically about to cry before canceling the Invisibility Spell.
“Kid, are you looking for me?”
I tilted my head at her, wearing what I considered a kind smile.
Who knew that the moment the child saw me, she wailed and burst into tears.
Ji Ruyin, you liar.
Didn’t you say this Saintess’s name alone could stop a child from crying?
Then why was this little thing such a crybaby?
I irritably picked at my ear.
Then I grabbed the little girl’s collar and lifted her up so we were eye level.
After that, I pinched her soft little mouth shut with two fingers.
“No crying!”
I snapped at her.
To my surprise, it actually worked.
The little girl really did stop crying. She only pouted, sniffling as she looked at me.
“Next, I ask, you answer. Got it?”
The little girl nodded.
“Why are you following me?”
“Big Sis told me to.”
“You’re Ji Ruyin’s little sister?”
She shook her head, then nodded.
In the end, she just stared at me with a pair of innocent, guileless eyes.
What a joke. Who do you think I am?
I was Wen Zifu, the Holy Maiden of the Demon Sect herself-the most ruthless and vicious woman in the Demon Sect, infamous for my merciless methods, and the top name on the Immortal Sect’s wanted list!
My red lips curved as I flashed the little girl a sinister smile.
“This Saintess is going to kill someone. Are you still going to follow me?”
As I spoke, I made a throat-slitting gesture to go with it.
Come on, kid. That ought to scare you to death.
But the little girl only froze for a second before reaching out with her chubby little hand and hooking her finger around mine.
“Together!”
“You’re not afraid?”
“If you’re killing bad people, I’m not scared.”
“How do you know I’m going to kill bad people?”
“I just know.”
What a perfectly good child, and Ji Ruyin had somehow raised her into a little blockhead.
I pouted and held out my hand, but the child was too short. She had to bounce on her toes just to grab it.
Useless.
I yanked off the ribbon tying up her little tuft of hair.
Then I handed one end to her.
“Kid, hold tight. If you get lost, I’m not dealing with it.”
She obediently did as she was told.
Carefully, she took hold of the ribbon, then tightened her grip little by little.
As if she were holding on to some rare treasure in this world.
Chapter 6
I had only just come down the mountain when I spotted an Immortal Sect disciple in white secretly comparing me to a portrait in his hands.
As expected, I’m absolutely stunning.
I jerked my chin at the child, signaling for her to look over there.
“See? This Saintess is a big name even in the Immortal Sect.”
She nodded as if she half understood, her big eyes full of admiration as she looked at me.
The next second, the Immortal Sect disciple pointed at me and shouted,
“It’s that demoness! She looks exactly like the one on the wanted poster!”
As he shouted, he drew his sword and charged straight at me.
I pulled the flexible sword from my waist and casually flicked out a flourish. He let out a miserable cry, and his sword flew out of his hand.
He shot me a hateful look, then turned and fled at full speed, not forgetting to throw out a threat as he ran.
“If you’ve got guts, don’t go anywhere, fiend! I’m going to get reinforcements right now!”
The Immortal Sect really was as spineless as ever.
For all these centuries, they had only produced one stubborn fool like Ji Ruyin-and now she was dead.
“Kid, take a good look. Cultivating immortality is the most hopeless path there is. Whatever you do, don’t cultivate immortality in the future.”
As I spoke, I casually picked up the wanted poster from the ground.
Then I got angry.
How exactly did that hideous thing in the portrait-with its green face, fangs, horns, and all-around ugliness-look anything like me?
Was that man blind?
I immediately used a Sword Flight Spell and chased after him.
You bastard, die!
