My Brother’s an Angel—Know What I Bean? - Chapter 4
Quick as lightning, Lanyin Moying covered my mouth.
His long lashes brushed my face, making it itch.
His dark-red eyes turned moist as he pleaded with me.
“Please, Xiaoya. I haven’t done anything bad, so please don’t turn me in. Please, please. I don’t want to fight that many birdmen.”
He looked so pitiful.
But who would believe a demon’s words?
I nodded.
Lanyin Moying released me.
I raised my voice.
“Brother, I was practicing magic just now.”
“All right. If there’s anything you don’t understand, you may ask your brother.”
Lanyin Moying wrapped a muscular arm around my waist.
His fluffy head nuzzled my arm.
Just like a dog.
In a wheedling voice, he hummed, “I knew you couldn’t bear to see me get beaten up.”
I shoved his head away without mercy.
First of all, he was the Demon King. If a fight broke out, there would inevitably be heavy casualties.
Second, since he had appeared in my room, I would be implicated too.
Finally, I glanced at the tail beneath him.
It looked almost exactly like mine.
Mine was thicker, though.
Jialan might say I was an angel, but there was no guarantee other angels wouldn’t get the wrong idea.
The wisest choice was to avoid a commotion and secretly send him away.
I pushed Lanyin Moying off, only for him to cling to me again.
“I didn’t finish what I was saying. You’re actually…”
I pinched his mouth shut.
Lanyin Moying whimpered twice.
“Enough. You’re not allowed to say it. Go back.”
I used my tail to cleave open a rift and shoved him toward it.
Lanyin Moying did not budge.
Now I was genuinely angry.
“What exactly do you want? Are you really asking for a beating?”
Without a trace of shame, Lanyin Moying said, “You have to come with me.”
“Why?”
“Because you’re a high-ranking demon. Haven’t you noticed? Your tail is almost as thick as mine, and the first time you used dark magic, you opened a rift inside my bedchamber. Maybe you’re the daughter of one of my trusted lieutenants.”
Bullshit!
My tail was clearly thicker than his!
Evidently, my tail was just as unconvinced.
It wound itself around his tail, determined to compare their sizes.
Lanyin Moying froze, then suddenly grew coy. “Isn’t this a little fast? We only just met, and you’re already asking me to ma—”
That tone was revolting, like an animal in heat.
I rubbed my arms furiously and cut him off. “If you use that voice again, I’ll call my brother in here to beat you up.”
Lanyin Moying softened his voice and sidled up to me with another grin.
“All right, all right. But you still have to come with me.”
“No.”
“I can’t leave a demon like you alone in a nest of birdmen.”
My expression chilled. “Except for my tail, I don’t possess a single demonic trait. What makes you so sure I’m a demon?”
“Because someone is suppressing your magic. Barring any surprises, that someone is probably your archangel brother.”
I drew my holy sword and pointed it at Lanyin Moying’s face.
“Spew any more poisonous lies, and I’ll cut out your tongue.”
Lanyin Moying bent close and kissed the tip of my sword.
“Fine. You believe him instead of me. I’m heartbroken.”
“Let me stay here, Xiaoya.” He held up three fingers in an oath. “I won’t do anything bad. If that archangel brother of yours ever tries to capture you alive and put you on trial, I can fight our way out with you.”
“If you don’t trust me, you can form a contract with me.”
I fell silent.
Lanyin Moying gripped the blade and aimed its tip at his own heart.
He smiled enticingly.
“Wow—the Demon King’s master. Doesn’t that sound amazing? Are you sure you don’t want the job?”
I pushed the sword two inches forward, sinking it into Lanyin Moying’s flesh.
“Heh. Scheming bastard. Die.”
