My Obedient Little Spider - Chapter 1
Chapter 1
It was the second time.
Another coin had appeared on my dressing table.
And last night’s messy dressing table had been tidied up, everything neatly arranged.
But this time,
I caught the person who did it red-handed.
“A… spider?”
The Little Spider, which had its back to me and was laboriously dragging a coin, froze.
It slowly turned its head.
Its large oOOo eyes were filled with disbelief at seeing me.
After staring at each other,
Little Spider was so startled that all eight of its legs fluffed up, as fluffy as a startled kitten.
It dropped the coin and ran.
It darted half a meter away and disappeared in the blink of an eye.
I was silent. I walked out of the room without a word.
Then I walked back in.
“Maybe I tidied up the desk last night before lying down, and just forgot about it.”
I comforted myself with a blank expression,
pretending not to notice the extra coin.
Then I grabbed my bag and rushed off to work in a panic.
Not out of fear, but because if I didn’t leave now, my perfect attendance bonus would be gone!
That evening,
after a full day of work, I was exhausted and no longer wanted to think about the absurd event I’d seen.
But I still took a bath with water boiled with pomelo leaves, cypress branches, and mugwort.
I stared at the spotless ceiling for a long time.
After a while,
I finally confirmed that the dust in the corner had been swept away.
So I spoke to the air, “I don’t know if you’re a spider or a ghost controlling a spider, but thank you.”
“The corner of the ceiling is so clean; it makes me feel much better.”
The room was quiet.
I hadn’t expected a reply.
But from the corner, I heard a faint, mosquito-like response: “…You’re welcome.”
I: “…”
It was surprisingly polite.
Chapter 2
That night, I had a dream.
A fluffy Little Spider, black with a hint of purple, stood uneasily in front of me, keeping a distance of one meter.
“I’m sorry to communicate with you this way, but I really had no choice.”
Little Spider covered its face with two little paws, begging in a pathetic tone.
“…Hello, here’s some money. Could you please stop destroying my webs?”
It trembled as it added,
“A-and, please don’t poke my butt, I’m scared!”
“I know that living in a human’s house requires paying rent. I’ll work hard and pay the rent.”
Actually, Little Spider hadn’t covered its face completely, revealing a sliver of its eyes.
I looked down at it.
After a moment,
I managed to say,
“Wait… you seem kind of familiar.”
My gaze involuntarily landed on Little Spider’s fluffy, plump, and solid bottom.
I felt like I’d seen it somewhere before.
Suddenly, I remembered and understood.
“You’re that spider that weaves really meticulous but terribly messy webs in the corner of the balcony!”
Little Spider stiffened all over, and the fear of being manhandled returned.
It ran away crying, “Pervert!”
Chapter 3
Little Spider came a week ago.
When I discovered it, it was working hard to pull back its freshly spun web, just like a human taking in laundry when it’s thundering and raining.
At the time, I didn’t notice it and almost smacked it to sleep.
Of course,
I’m not a pervert.
I was just spacing out after watering the plants on the balcony when I saw a fluffy Little Spider silently weaving a web in the corner.
Its bottom was too captivating, and its fourth pair of legs moved swiftly.
On a whim,
I put on a disposable glove and poked it.
Unlike ordinary spiders, this one was dark black with a hint of purple, with faint stripes along the edge of its abdomen, and exceptionally fluffy.
Most spiders found in the house are harmless, and even the venomous ones are only mildly so.
So I wasn’t afraid of getting bitten.
The fluffy spider bottom was indeed plump and substantial.
I looked at my fingertip and couldn’t help rubbing my fingers together.
“As expected, it was heavy, a bit soft, and had a wonderful feel.”
“…Truly the cat of the spider world.
This was probably the first time Little Spider had ever encountered something like this.
It turned back stiffly and met my eager look as I was about to reach out again.
“Uh, sorry?”
Was it… glaring at me just now?
“…”
Little Spider, fluffy all over, walked away with its legs moving awkwardly in sync, swallowing its grievance.
