My Obedient Little Spider - Chapter 2
Chapter 2
This week we had no incidents.
Occasionally, out of curiosity, I poked at its web, but Little Spider didn’t get angry.
It just waited for me to leave, then silently wiggled its butt and mended the web.
“Huh… so sticky.”
Little Spider blinked its oOOo cute, clueless eyes and turned toward the sound.
Its gaze fell on my fingertip, where there was… the freshly woven web, now tattered.
I was back again.
I sheepishly withdrew my hand, a bit embarrassed.
Little Spider didn’t run away.
Instead, it frantically stuck its butt out at me and raised its little legs, waving them.
I hesitated.
“Does it want me to touch it? Alright.”
So I reached out.
“!!”
Little Spider covered its butt in horror and darted away.
I thought it wanted me to touch it.
But now it seemed that wasn’t the case.
I quickly waved my hands, “I’m not a pervert.”
The usually honest Little Spider cried in accusation.
It also hid far away from me, sobbing quietly.
“Don’t come closer.” It seemed even more unable to say that word than I was, and broke down: “You touched me… and you say you’re not a pervert!”
“I clearly warned you.”
I was puzzled, “Did you?”
Little Spider was so infuriated by my cluelessness that it couldn’t stand it.
It came out from the corner with tap-tap-taps and repeated the earlier action.
“Are you blind?”
Little Spider choked up, “This is my attack posture. Last time I was warning you.”
“When spiders are scared, they stick out their butts to make themselves look big, trying to scare off enemies.”
“But you… you just reached out and touched me without a word!”
“And you wrecked my web, so I can’t eat enough.”
“If this keeps up, I might as well die.”
Little Spider whimpered, completely distraught.
So I had misunderstood.
I thought Little Spider was presenting its butt for me to poke.
“Sorry, I didn’t know.” I honestly apologized to Little Spider, and promised not to poke holes in its hard-earned web anymore, and even offered compensation.
Little Spider was crying so hard it was hiccuping, and asked in a hoarse voice, “Really?”
I gave an “mm.”
“Next time I’ll use the electric flyswatter to zap some mosquitoes and toss them onto your web for a luxurious feast.”
Little Spider sniffled and wiped its tears.
Then it said I was a good person.
“So being in jail isn’t that hard after all. You’re nothing like what the Prison Warden said.”
Me: “?”
