Chapter 3

So it turned out that Little Spider had committed a crime and was confined to my house to serve hard labor.
I casually asked, not really expecting an answer.
Little Spider cautiously lifted its head and glanced at me.
It said softly, “I… I killed my stepfather.”
“He deceived my mother, and when I was molting, he tried to force himself on me. I resisted and accidentally killed him.”
So it ended up in this room for involuntary manslaughter of another spider, serving hard labor as rehabilitation.
My expression changed instantly.
I couldn’t help but recall an unpleasant incident from a few days ago, and my tone turned grim.
“Beasts are truly… everywhere.”
“Our experiences are quite similar. The blind date I met only five times acted just as disgustingly as your stepfather did.”
“If I could, I’d like to have an accident like that too.”
My voice was eerie, inadvertently revealing my dark thoughts.
Little Spider fell silent at my words.
Silently, it shuffled closer step by step, clasped its paws together and hugged my fingertip, giving it a pat.
Then it quickly backed away to a distance.
I froze.
Awkwardly, I curled the fingertip that had just been hugged.
A spider’s embrace felt soft.
I wasn’t… quite used to it.
I awkwardly changed the subject.
“Let’s not talk about this disgusting topic anymore. Let’s talk about something else.”
“I’m curious: in your spider eyes, why is staying in a room with me like a prison sentence?”
Little Spider walked with its eight legs neatly arranged, looking rather cute.
“The Prison Warden investigated and found that you hate spiders.”
“For a spider to live in the home of a human who hates spiders, survival is hard. That is my punishment.”
I suddenly realized the truth.
“Then this Prison Warden you mentioned must have made a mistake. I don’t hate spiders.”
Little Spider shook its head.
Seeing my disbelief, it cautiously took a small step forward.
“I’ll come closer, touch your skin, and show you something.” Little Spider added worriedly, “…But you can’t take this chance to slap me dead.”
It extended a paw and touched my fingertip.
It was a magical feeling.
The spider’s paw felt like leather; when its claws weren’t extended, it was cool and fuzzy.
I noticed its fuzzy toes were split.
“Those two little hooks on your paw, can they retract?”
Little Spider flushed red instantly.
Its body fur puffed up again.
It struggled to maintain a calm exterior, sternly saying, “Human, I’m talking seriously here, don’t tease me.”
“Be careful or I’ll scratch you later.”
Hiss!
So polite-it even warns me before scratching.

Chapter 6

A brief flash of light appeared.
Little Spider showed me how the Prison Warden had monitored me-
When I first moved here.
The toilet was still being renovated while I was fixing up the place.
I encountered a very large White-fronted Huntsman Spider, trying its hardest to curl up its body and hide in a corner.
It was very timid.
At my slightest movement, the Huntsman Spider’s eight legs would run in a blur.
After seeing it for several days, I suddenly got interested.
So I stomped my foot to scare it.
Probably because it had been scared too many times, it wasn’t afraid anymore.
Once, when I repeated the trick, after I stomped, the spider was clearly taken aback.
Then.
It quickly climbed up my pant leg.
…After a short silence.
I let out a shrill scream.
Who wouldn’t be scared?!
Little Spider looked up and said seriously, “See? That one was the Prison Warden.”
“After assessment, your hatred of spiders was nearly perfect, so they carefully chose this place for my hard labor.”
“Hmm… although I might not leave here alive.”
“But during my hard labor, I need to keep the room tidy, clean up, catch mosquitoes, and so on.”
Little Spider counted on its paws, lifting another paw to add when one set wasn’t enough.
Finally, Little Spider said, “I came into your dream to tell you.”
It emphasized with a hint of shame: “Don’t randomly poke my butt normally; it’s too sensitive, I can’t take it.”
A wise man adapts to circumstances.
It’s all for survival.
If it means yielding to this human, it can accept it.
Little Spider raised its head.
Meeting my hesitant expression.
It slowly covered its face, its tone compromising, muffled.
“If, if you really want to poke…”
“Just let me know first, so I can at least be mentally prepared.”
Hmm?
