My Villainous Persona Collapses as My Family Reads My Mind - Chapter 28
Shen Que personally posted on his social media to officially announce his relationship with Meng Zhiyi, and the news quickly spread across the campus network.
The buzz was so intense that even those who usually didn’t care about gossip had heard about it.
It even made its way into social entertainment news, simply because of the status of the Shen and Meng families in the Capital City.
However, the two main parties were completely unaware, still leisurely enjoying their meal.
Shen Que’s announcement soon reached Song Wei’s ears. At first, she thought it was just a rumor, until she saw Shen Que’s social media post with her own eyes.
Crash-
The cup in her hand slipped and fell to the ground, spilling water everywhere.
“Weiwei, what’s wrong?” Ding Yue leaned over, asking with concern.
Before she finished speaking, Ding Yue glanced at Song Wei’s phone and immediately saw Shen Que’s post.
“How is that possible?!” Ding Yue exclaimed in a low voice.
She moved closer, grabbing Song Wei’s hand to get a better look.
In the photo, Meng Zhiyi looked stunningly beautiful, her serious, lowered gaze so captivating that even a woman’s heart would skip a beat.
But Ding Yue quickly snapped out of her admiration, checking the post several times before reluctantly admitting it was real.
She looked at Song Wei with worry, gently comforting her, “It must be Meng Zhiyi who used Shen Que’s phone to post this herself. Weiwei, don’t believe it.”
Song Wei gave a bitter smile, “Do you think that’s possible? How could Shen Que ever give her his phone?”
Ding Yue opened her mouth, feeling even more anxious than Song Wei, who was the one actually interested in Shen Que.
“You know what Meng Zhiyi is like. Someone as proud as Shen Que could never like a useless airhead. There must be some misunderstanding.”
Song Wei bit her lip, hatred for Meng Zhiyi already festering in her heart, though she didn’t dare show it openly.
She turned off her phone. Even though she knew it was impossible, she still hoped that the post had been secretly made by Meng Zhiyi using Shen Que’s phone.
Meanwhile, in the school cafeteria.
Meng Zhiyi was holding Shen Que’s phone, tapping away at it.
“Why did you post this photo? I’m not wearing makeup, not dressed up, I look awful.”
Shen Que sat beside her, sipping water, listening to her complain about the official announcement photo, a faint smile on his face.
They looked just like a loving couple-she fussed, he smiled.
Meng Zhiyi kept talking, then opened the camera and took a few selfies.
She handed the phone back to Shen Que, saying with a touch of pride, “Use these next time.”
“Alright.”
Shen Que agreed, indulging her.
Noticing how Shen Que always went along with her, Meng Zhiyi felt like her punches were landing on cotton, unable to make an impact.
So she had no choice but to let it go and take things slowly.
“I need to go home tonight. Are you coming with me or heading back to the dorm?” Shen Que pocketed his phone and looked up at her.
Meng Zhiyi rubbed her tired eyes, yawned, and said, “No, I’m going back to sleep.”
Shen Que: “Didn’t sleep well?”
“Yeah, I spent the whole night thinking about you.” Meng Zhiyi squinted and smiled playfully, “I want my boyfriend to kiss me, hug me, and lift me up~”
Shen Que looked at her, smiling without saying a word. After a moment, he spoke, “Then I’ll tell Grandma I won’t be coming home tonight.”
Meng Zhiyi had only meant to tease him, but hearing this, she pouted, “Better not. If we miss something important, Grandma will say I’m being irresponsible.”
Shen Que chuckled, stood up, and reached out to hold her hand, “Nothing is more important than my girlfriend.”
Meng Zhiyi immediately backed off, “No, no, we have plenty of time in the future. There’s no rush.”
Seeing her timid look, Shen Que actually found her a bit cute.
“Then I’ll walk you back to the dorm.”
After Shen Que sent Meng Zhiyi back to the dorm, he drove straight home.
In the study, the Shen Matriarch was wearing reading glasses, standing at the desk and looking down at some documents.
Shen Que walked in. The Shen Matriarch looked up and made a gesture for silence-only then did she notice that the phone on the table was still on a call.
On the other end was a man’s voice: “Matriarch, Red Ghost seems to have already entered the country.”
The Shen Matriarch asked, “Can you track his exact whereabouts?”
The man replied, “It’s a bit difficult at the moment. He’s very cunning and keeps changing identities.”
The Shen Matriarch said, “Continue to monitor him and confirm his exact whereabouts.”
“Understood.”
The call ended.
Shen Que stepped forward and asked, “Grandma, why did you call me back?”
The Shen Matriarch took off her glasses, pinched the bridge of her nose, and sighed, “Your parents sent word this morning. That organization has started to move. One of their leaders has already entered the country.”
Hearing this, Shen Que’s expression grew serious. “Are they coming for Song Wei?”
The Shen Matriarch replied, “Most likely. After all, it’s connected to what her parents did back then.”
Shen Que was silent for a few seconds, then said, “I’ll assign more people to stay by her side for now.”
The Shen Matriarch nodded, then added, “Just give the orders for these things. You should keep your distance from her, so Yiyi doesn’t misunderstand again.”
In the past, whenever his grandmother mentioned Meng Zhiyi, Shen Que would always brush it off.
This time, he nodded seriously and replied, “Alright. Before that, I’ll also find a chance to explain things to her.”
The Shen Matriarch looked up in surprise, staring at him in astonishment. “Have you finally come around?”
Shen Que said, “I want to give it a try. After all, any girl that Grandma likes so much must have her merits.”
Hearing this, the Shen Matriarch immediately walked over in delight and patted him excitedly. “You rascal, trust Grandma, I won’t steer you wrong.”
“She’s a very good child.”
Shen Que had always been puzzled-his grandmother had only met Meng Zhiyi a few times, so why did she like her so much?
However, Shen Que didn’t plan to ask his grandmother this question directly. He preferred to figure it out on his own.
Shen Que chatted with the Shen Matriarch for a while, then prepared to return to his own apartment.
Just as he stepped out the door, he saw Song Wei getting out of a taxi right in front of him.
Shen Que didn’t pay much attention and was about to turn and leave when Song Wei called out to him.
“Shen Que, wait!”
Song Wei jogged over, reaching out as if to grab Shen Que’s hand.
“What is it?” Shen Que stopped in his tracks, turning slightly to avoid her hand.
His handsome face was expressionless, his gaze cold as he looked at her.
Song Wei thought she had already gotten used to Shen Que’s icy attitude.
But when she recalled how Shen Que treated Meng Zhiyi at the dormitory earlier today, her chest ached uncontrollably.
She stared at Shen Que with longing eyes, holding back tears as she asked with difficulty, “That post you made on your WeChat Moments… was it real?”
“Yes, it was real.” Shen Que answered without a moment’s hesitation.
Song Wei asked, “Why?”
“Hm?” Shen Que looked up, confusion in his eyes.
“Why her?” Song Wei pressed on.
Shen Que replied, “Does it have anything to do with you?”
Seeing his indifference, Song Wei grew anxious. “We’ve known each other since we were kids. I’ve liked you since we were little, Shen Que. I don’t believe you don’t know that. And don’t forget, our parents once made an agreement!”
“I think it’s necessary to make something clear to you.” For once, Shen Que turned to face Song Wei directly.
But this only made her feel even more uneasy.
By the time she realized what Shen Que was about to say and tried to stop him, it was already too late.
“Song Wei, aside from living under the same roof, there’s nothing between us. The so-called agreement between our parents was personally broken by you three years ago.”
“So, right now, you have no standing to question me about anything.”
“Neither the Shen Family nor I owe you anything.”
