Never Leaving Qiao'an - Chapter 1
Chapter 1
Jiang Jingci stood there in a black bathrobe, the collar hanging low.
It exposed a broad expanse of cool, pale skin and sharply defined collarbones.
His hair was still half-damp, droplets of water sliding along his jaw and disappearing into the depths of his collar.
I swallowed instinctively.
My gaze swept downward, completely out of my control.
The bullet comments instantly turned filthy.
“Ahhh, Shen Qiao’an really went to find Jiang Jingci! But where is this dirty-minded girl looking?”
“The villain’s face is such a feast for the eyes. Go on, female supporting character! Push him down, ravage him, ruin him!”
“Is it really 20? Verification, please!”
Jiang Jingci lowered his eyelids and looked down at me from above.
His gaze was gloomy, dark and heavy, as if he wanted to devour me.
“What do you want?”
His voice was terribly hoarse, carrying the lingering heat of someone who had just gotten out of the shower.
I hiccupped from the alcohol and pointed at the door across the hall. “The passcode was changed. I can’t get in.”
His Adam’s apple shifted.
That little mole moved up and down with it, sinfully sexy.
“So?” He gave a cold laugh. “You came to me for shelter?”
“I can’t?” I took a step forward.
The tip of my nose nearly bumped into his chest.
Maybe it was the alcohol going to my head, making me bolder than usual.
After all, I had basically never dared to speak to Jiang Jingci before.
I had known him since high school.
His family and Xu Zhizhou’s family had been close for generations, and the two of them were on pretty good terms.
Back then, Jiang Jingci sat in the very last row of the classroom.
He slept through class, fought viciously, and never buttoned his shirt all the way up.
The way he looked at people was too dark, like a beast lying in wait in the shadows.
Whenever I saw him, I always took a detour.
So when the bullet comments called him the villain, I wasn’t surprised in the slightest.
Jiang Jingci lowered his head and narrowed his eyes, a dangerous glint flashing in their depths.
He raised a hand and braced it against the doorframe, blocking my path.
Then he leaned forward, his presence overwhelmingly oppressive.
“I’m the kind of bastard who would lay a hand on his brother’s woman, Shen Qiao’an. Think this through.”
The bullet comments drifted by.
[He’s baiting her. Shen Qiao’an, hurry up and bite.]
[Don’t be fooled by how calm Jiang Jingci is pretending to be. His hand is shaking!]
I lowered my head and looked.
Sure enough.
The hand he had braced against the doorframe had veins bulging across the back of it, his fingertips trembling slightly.
As if he were holding something back.
For some reason, that discovery made me a little excited.
I reached out, lightly hooking a fingertip around the tie of his bathrobe.
“I’ve thought it through.”
I lifted my head and smiled at him, the corners of my eyes probably flushed red from the alcohol.
“Jiang Jingci, let me in.”
The air froze for several seconds.
He squeezed his eyes shut and forced a low curse from his throat.
The next second, my wrist was seized by a large, burning-hot hand.
The world spun, and I was yanked through the doorway.
Before my back could slam into the entryway cabinet, he cushioned the impact with his body.
The door slammed shut with a bang.
