Chapter 2

Jiang Jingci’s presence came crashing down over me.

It carried the crisp, cold scent of cedar, with the faintest trace of tobacco.

He leaned in, his knee forcing its way between my legs.

He was nothing like the aloof, restrained, untouchable man he was on any ordinary day.

He was more like a wolf starved past reason.

“Shen Qiao’an, since when did you get so bold?”

He lowered his head, the tip of his nose brushing the shell of my ear.

“If you’re going to provoke me, can you afford the consequences?”

My head was spinning so badly that all I could register was how terrifyingly hot his body felt.

The bullet comments went wild:

[Holy crap! Am I allowed to watch this?]

[The head-pushing squad is here! Kiss her already!]

[This villain ship is just too good. In the original novel, he never even said he liked her before he died, ahhh! Mom, my dream has come true!]

Half-dazed, I let out a soft hum and reached up to touch his face.

“I’m just checking the goods. Let’s see if you’re really that strong…”

Jiang Jingci let out a low scoff.

There was a hint of madness in that laugh.

His large hand gripped my waist and pulled me closer.

“You’re the one who came to me.”

Then his kiss fell.

Fierce and urgent, carrying the force of punishment.

My lip split against his teeth, and the taste of rust spread through my mouth.

I frowned at the pain, only for him to kiss me even deeper.

In the haze of desire, I heard him grit out against my ear:

“Shen Qiao’an, say my name.”

“Don’t get it wrong.”

Chapter 3

“Jiang Jingci…”

The moment I spoke, the man jerked his face to the side, the corners of his eyes frighteningly red.

His fingers brushed over me, trembling as they went to tug at the tie of his robe.

But before I could get a clear look at the expanse of lean, powerful muscle before me…

My stomach suddenly heaved violently.

“Urgh-”

The suggestive atmosphere shattered in an instant.

I shoved the frozen Jiang Jingci away, clapped a hand over my mouth, and rushed into the bathroom.

Then I hugged the toilet and threw up until the world spun.

Steady footsteps sounded behind me.

Jiang Jingci came in holding a glass of water and a towel, his expression as dark as the bottom of a pan.

Even so, he still half-knelt beside me and rubbed my back, stroke by stroke.

“Shen Qiao’an, you really are something.”

He gave a cold snort, but his movements were gentle.

After I emptied my stomach, he made me drink honey water. Dazed and groggy, I lay back down on the bed.

As my consciousness blurred, an awful hollowness opened in my chest.

All at once, I remembered that night.
