Chapter 3

I’m a good person. My father, however, is not.

The moment the words left my mouth, a sharp pain snapped against my forehead.

The hand that had seemed so unused to patting my head a moment ago now flicked me right between the brows with practiced ease.

[Oh no, oh no. The villain is paranoid. What he hates most is anyone coveting his throne. The Little Princess just hit his sore spot!]

[Damn it! So it really can’t be done? My white-moonlight daughter who died young, may you rest in peace.]

The barrage scared me half to death. Clutching my forehead, I secretly observed my father’s expression.

He was studying me too.

Before long, who knew what he had figured out, but he suddenly revealed an eerie smile.

“You truly are my daughter.”

“?”

“You have ambition. That resembles me. Very good,” he said. “In this deep palace, one cannot live long without ambition. Remember this-”

Father paused.

Father paused again.

Father paused yet again.

Then Father said, “Remember this, Heng’e.”

Who was Hungry?

Chapter 4

In my sixth year of living in this world, aside from “Little Highness,” I finally had a second name.

Heng’e.

Li Heng’e.

Father held my hand and wrote my new name on the paper, stroke by stroke.

It felt extremely strange.

On the one hand, I resisted the name from the bottom of my heart. I felt it wasn’t even as catchy as the name I had given myself, “Li Dali.”

On the other hand, I had never seen my mother since the day I was born.

Although I had a large group of aunties and nannies by my side, so my days were not exactly lonely, they always kept my status in mind and had never treated me with such intimacy.

Father was warm and toasty, like a hot-water bottle. I could not help wanting to get closer.

I wriggled restlessly in his arms. He noticed and lowered his head to ask me, “You don’t like me calling you Heng’e?”

Before I could answer, several people hurried in from outside the door.

At their head, Eunuch Wang raised his voice and cried out in a panic, “Your Majesty! Terrible news, Your Majesty! Someone is trying to murder the princess!”

Whaaaat?! In squeaky-whistle edition.

I hadn’t even become emperor yet. How could I croak now?!

With a whoosh, I slid down Father’s knees, planted my hands on my hips, and calmly gave orders like an adult.

“To conspire against an imperial heir is a crime punishable by death! Sentence them to be torn apart by five horses.”

Eunuch Wang shuddered in fright.

“F-Five horses?”

That reminded me. I immediately added with great precision, “If it’s a man, then make it six horses.”
