Not My Brother - Chapter 2

Calling this place my home was generous. It was more like somewhere I had temporarily stayed.

In just half an hour, I had packed everything I owned.

The wind hit me as I stepped outside with my suitcase, clearing my head.

My absurd, fucked-up first half of a life—

to hell with all of it.

I had taken only two steps when some instinct made me turn around.

Lu Guanhe stood by the second-floor railing.

He was too far away for me to make out his expression.

But I knew he was watching me, and whatever he was thinking couldn’t be good. Throwing me out of the Lu family probably wasn’t enough for him. He likely wanted to drive me out of Jing City too, to make me go as far away as possible.

The poorer, more desperate, and more humiliated I became, the happier that brat would be.

I gave a cold laugh and started to turn away.

Several bullet comments suddenly appeared before my eyes.

【Thank God! Now that he’s not his real brother, he can finally kiss his brother!】

【The little brother must be celebrating inside. He can finally bring out everything he’s hidden in the basement!】

【Big brother, turn around and take a closer look at him! That brat is pure excitement—he’s so worked up his hands have started shaking!】

I froze where I stood and didn’t move for a long time.

When I looked back again, Lu Guanhe had vanished from the second floor.

A housekeeper hurried outside, not daring to raise her eyes to mine.

“E-Eldest Young Master Lu, the Second Young Master asked me to ask you… why haven’t you gotten the hell out yet?”

I let go of my suitcase.

“Tell him to come out and ask me himself.”

Before long, Lu Guanhe emerged with a face like thunder.

The bullet comments raced past.

【The moment big brother called for him, little brother’s tail must have started wagging like a propeller!】

【Little brother’s basement has big brother’s shirts, big brother’s tie clips, bedsheets big brother slept on…】

I looked Lu Guanhe up and down.

Time really did fly. In the blink of an eye, Lu Guanhe had grown up to look almost respectable.

His expression was foul. “What? Going to beg me to let you stay?”

“I’ve worked for the Lu family all these years. Leaving empty-handed would be a terrible loss.”

I pulled my suitcase back toward the house, stopping as I passed him.

“Before I go, I need to collect a little interest.”

“Interest?”

For an instant, Lu Guanhe’s face twisted.

He recovered quickly, returning to his usual punchable expression.

“What makes you think you have any right to demand interest from me?”

The bullet comments streaming by held an attitude utterly at odds with his.

【Don’t listen to him, big brother! Little brother never says what he means. One kiss and he’ll behave!】

【Damn it, why is Lu Guanhe’s mouth harder than steel? You couldn’t pry it open with a crowbar.】

【He’ll behave once he’s pushed big brother away for good. Think he’ll hide under the covers and cry then?】

…

“Hey, Lu Mingyuan. What are you spacing out for? Didn’t you hear me talking to you?”

Compared with those bullet comments of unknown origin, I trusted the Lu Guanhe I could see far more.

Dragging my suitcase behind me, I ignored his taunts and returned to my room.

Lu Guanhe was clearly furious. Yet miraculously, he didn’t throw me out himself. Instead, he picked the flashiest sports car in the garage and roared away from the villa with the accelerator floored.

It wasn’t until dusk that I heard the sports car return.

Looking down from the window, I happened to see Lu Guanhe come back with an arm around a minor celebrity.

Lu Guanhe had always lived recklessly.

During the years I ran myself ragged managing the company, he invented new ways to make trouble for me.

The celebrity was named Wei Yan. Rumors about his relationship with Lu Guanhe had been raging through their circles.

Lu Guanhe had also poured resources into him. Several leading roles in a row had made the man famous by brute force.

When I first heard about it, I treated it as a joke and laughed it off.

Lu Guanhe’s sexual orientation had nothing to do with me. I would have been delighted if he ended the Lu bloodline, if only to annoy Lu Jianguo and Li Shuhua in the underworld.

Let them have no peace even in death.

As if sensing me, Lu Guanhe looked up and saw me standing at the window.

He tightened his arm around Wei Yan in open provocation.

Just a little brat who didn’t know his own weight.

I paid him no mind and drew the curtains.

The moment they closed, my secretary called.

I had been driven out of the company in such a hurry that I’d left many things in my office.

I assumed Lu Guanhe had thrown them away, but my secretary had kept them for me.

“President Lu, I’m downstairs.”

On my way down, I brushed past Lu Guanhe.

Behind me, I heard Wei Yan speak.

“Young President Lu, who is this?”

Lu Guanhe didn’t answer. He abruptly shoved Wei Yan away and followed me outside.

“President Lu, I packed all your personal things in here.”

My secretary had been with me for every one of my years at the company.

Now that I had fallen from power, Lu Guanhe would probably target him next.

“What about you? Are you planning to stay?”

I thought for a moment. “I have a friend here in Jing City who’s short-staffed.”

After a brief conversation with my secretary, I turned around to find Lu Guanhe standing a short distance away, staring fixedly at me.

He wore a floral shirt with one hand in his pocket. His expression was vicious, making him look like a gangster.

“Something you need?”

I lifted my eyes and asked without much interest.

That single short question was enough to make Lu Guanhe bristle.

“You like him that much? You’re about to get kicked out yourself, and you’re already rushing to find a new home for your little lover.”

“Other people might not know, but don’t think I don’t.” Lu Guanhe sneered. “Lu Mingyuan, keeping him at your side for that reason is fucking disgusting.”

For some reason, I found it almost funny. Lu Guanhe thought everyone he looked at was filthy.

“That’s right.”

I went along with him. “He’s exactly my type. Young. Clean.”

I walked around Lu Guanhe without so much as glancing at Wei Yan and went upstairs.

Lu Guanhe remained alone in the courtyard for a while, frozen stiff.
