Chapter 11

I had completely lost my temper.

I thought to myself in a fit of self-abandonment: Professor Shen couldn’t possibly be my third boyfriend, Shen Qinghe, could he?

Whatever. Things were already a mess; a little more chaos wouldn’t hurt.

Along the way, I quietly observed my surroundings.

This place seemed to be a small-scale experimental base.

As we reached the laboratory at the end of the corridor, the faint, agonized shrieks of ghosts drifted from inside.

“Aaaahhh-”

The Half-Head NPC who had been captured along with me was terrified. His body shook like a leaf as he muttered to himself, “Damn it, how can I still be tortured even after becoming a ghost?”

The screams from the lab pierced my eardrums, shrill and hoarse. I didn’t need to look to know what kind of torment the creature inside was undergoing.

This Professor Shen… is he really my boyfriend?

I couldn’t help but shudder, my legs turning to jelly.

My boyfriend, Shen Qinghe, was just a college student.

Though he had a somewhat cold personality, he would absolutely never torture ghosts so cruelly!

The pervert inside is definitely not my boyfriend! I thought despairingly.

A moment later, the laboratory door opened.

Half-Head and I were pushed inside.

“Aaaahhh, let me out!” Half-Head cried out in despair.

I was also terrified, tears streaming down my face.

The laboratory was filled with the pungent smell of blood and various chemical reagents.

Professor Shen was dressed in simple white clothes and black trousers. He stood with his back to us in front of an operating table, currently studying a ghost that had been disemboweled.

As he researched, he murmured to himself, “So the color of a ghost’s heart is affected by their kill count? The more people they harm, the blacker the heart?”

“Tsk… I’m not quite sure. I’ll slaughter two more ghosts and see.”

Half-Head’s hair stood on end beside me.

Ten minutes later, Professor Shen finally finished his research.

He took off his gloves, rubbed his tired temples, and turned around to look at us.

As he turned, the ghost behind him-mutilated beyond recognition-was exposed to my sight.

How could I describe it?

Calling it a pile of rotten meat wouldn’t be an exaggeration.

It was too bloody, too horrific.

Even for someone like me who loved horror movies, seeing this scene caused my brain to momentarily lose the ability to think.

“Urgh… blech.”

It was disgusting! Truly disgusting!

I couldn’t control the tears flowing from extreme terror. Gagging, I stumbled and tried to flee toward the door.

This Professor Shen was a pervert, a lunatic, a psychopath!

“…Ah Xin?”

Professor Shen-no, it should be Shen Qinghe-froze when he saw my face. A flash of regret immediately flickered in his eyes.

“Ah Xin, don’t be afraid. Come over here to me.”

Seeing how terrified I was, Shen Qinghe knitted his brows and walked toward me with a pained expression.

“Don’t come any closer!” My back was against the lab door, my voice so shrill it nearly broke.

I never imagined that the clean, steady Shen Qinghe, who always carried the faint scent of body wash, would be such a perverted madman!!

At this moment, I deeply regretted deliberately approaching him, pursuing him, bathing with him, and spending every night with him…

“Shen Qinghe, let’s break up! Let me go back to the hospital, I’m begging you. For the sake of our past feelings, please just let me go this once…”

I was too scared. My body had never shaken so violently. I kept crying and pleading with him.

Never had I realized more clearly than now that this was a cold-blooded horror game, a combination of gore, eeriness, and violence…

I was just an ordinary person.

I just wanted to live a normal life! I couldn’t accept sleeping next to a lunatic!

Shen Qinghe stopped in his tracks.

He stood there dazed, his dark pupils slowly shifting. “Ah Xin? What did you say?”

I covered my face in a breakdown, not daring to look at the blood on the floor. “I said we’re breaking up, Shen Qinghe! I’ll definitely transfer a breakup fee to you after I get back, I-mmph… mmm!!”

Shen Qinghe lunged forward like a madman. One hand wrapped around the back of my neck, locking me firmly in his arms, while the other gripped my chin tightly. His eyes were bloodshot, every word laced with ruthlessness: “Youxin, what did you say!? Say it again!”

He had completely stopped pretending.

He tore away his former mask of cold composure, revealing his truest, most frenzied side.

His strength was immense, pinning me down so tightly that no matter how I screamed or struggled, I couldn’t break free in the slightest.

“Shen Qinghe, please let me go. I’ll transfer all my money to you, I’ll give it all to you, waaaah…”

I broke down.

My entire body felt itchy and restless, trembling all over. It felt as if Shen Qinghe’s scalpel-the one he used to dissect ghosts-would pierce my body in the next second.

But suddenly, I felt a sharp pain in the back of my neck.

Shen Qinghe was panting heavily, his chest heaving wildly. With a shaking hand, he pulled out a syringe and pricked the needle into my skin.

As the drug was slowly injected, my eyelids grew heavy, and my strength to struggle vanished.

The last thing I saw were Shen Qinghe’s bloodshot, crazed, and pathological eyes.

“…Have a good sleep, Ah Xin. When you wake up, you won’t say things that make people unhappy anymore.”
