Pathological Heart Lock - Chapter 6
Chapter 6
Unsurprisingly, the hospital’s main gate was already firmly secured with a heavy iron padlock.
The walls were also topped with electric fencing.
Escaping was fundamentally impossible.
I had no choice but to return to the hospital building, searching from one examination room to the next for my scattered teammates.
The doctors sitting inside the rooms were grotesque beyond belief-some were missing limbs, others had rotting faces; they came in every horrific variety imaginable.
Whenever I opened a door, their eyeballs would swivel, those bloodshot, bulging white orbs staring fixatedly at me.
“Sorry to disturb you,” I said expressionlessly, pulling the door shut.
As I pulled open the door to the next room, a heart-wrenching, miserable wail erupted from within.
“Get away! Get away from me… You-Youxin? Youxin, help me!!”
Inside the room, one of my fellow Maids was crying so hard her face was covered in snot and tears. She had collapsed on the floor and was scrambling toward me with everything she had.
Behind her stood a doctor with half a rotted head, brandishing a scalpel and surgical forceps.
“Help me! He’s going to cut me open! Youxin, help!”
My legs went weak with terror, and I nearly collapsed right there.
But drawing on a sudden surge of courage from who-knows-where, I grabbed the Maid by the arm, hauled her up from the floor, and dragged her along as I sprinted away frantically.
We didn’t stop until we reached the third floor and were sure no ghosts were chasing us anymore.
Having survived the ordeal, the Maid slumped onto the floor and began to sob hysterically.
“That Examination Room 4 is so damn cursed! The moment I walked in, the door locked itself and wouldn’t open no matter what! That doctor… he wanted to perform surgery on me!”
If I hadn’t pushed that door open, she would likely be dead by now.
In that sense, I suppose I’d actually saved a life.
I checked the time; I only had thirty minutes left to find a place to hide.
But where could I go?
Panic began to well up in my chest.
It was only afternoon, and the hospital was only so big. That doctor in the demon mask knew the layout of this place far better than I did. He was bound to find me before midnight!
What would happen to me if he caught me?
I bit my lower lip as a bold idea suddenly took root in my mind.
Every doctor in the hospital wore a uniform white lab coat. What if… I disguised myself as a doctor?
