Pathological Heart Lock - Chapter 5
Chapter 5
I was blindfolded and led into an examination room.
Someone hoisted me onto a hospital bed and strapped various unknown medical instruments to my body.
The equipment was freezing, but it couldn’t compare to the chill in my heart.
Sob… God, you’re heartless.
Who sets up a death trap the second someone arrives!
Click.
The door to the examination room was locked from the inside.
Under the pale glow of the ceiling light, a long shadow stood before the bed.
The man’s long, pale fingers brushed across my neck, sending a cold, itchy sensation through me.
The hair on my arms stood up instantly.
Because I was blindfolded, I had no idea what kind of creature was standing in front of me.
“I’m in great health! Really! There’s no need for an exam. My husband is waiting for me to come home for dinner. Can we… can we reschedule for next time, Doctor?”
I choked out the words, terrified.
This Ghost Doctor’s hands were so cold!
As they trailed over my neck, they sent a wave of goosebumps rippling across my skin.
Fine beads of cold sweat broke out in my palms, and I couldn’t stop trembling.
He seemed quite satisfied with my reaction.
The Ghost Doctor let out a low, amused chuckle.
“You’re even cute when you’re scared. I want to eat you up.”
A cold scalpel grazed my body.
When this doctor said he wanted to “eat” me, he probably meant slicing me into little pieces with that scalpel and devouring them, right?
The thought sent a jolt through my entire body, and I began to struggle frantically.
To my surprise, the restraints that had seemed so tight moments ago snapped easily under my resistance.
I bolted upright like a fish leaping out of water and ripped the blindfold from my eyes.
Under the harsh, pale light, the man before me wore a slim-fitting, pristine white lab coat, but his face was covered by a strange and eerie demon mask.
Seeing me break free, the man arched an eyebrow. His narrow, phoenix-shaped eyes behind the mask flickered with a touch of malice. “Impressive. Why don’t we play a game?”
“One hour. I’ll give you one hour to hide anywhere in this hospital. But if I find you before midnight…”
The corners of his mouth curled up as he leaned close to my ear. His low, raspy voice held a hint of dark enchantment. “You know what the consequences will be, don’t you?”
I knew.
Of course I knew!
In a horror game, if you’re caught playing hide-and-seek by the Big Boss, you’re obviously going to be torn limb from limb and swallowed whole!
Forcing my trembling legs to move, I jumped off the bed and scrambled out the door.
