Chapter 2

But before I could even finish letting out that breath of relief, a pair of long, powerful hands suddenly clamped onto the back of my neck and yanked me backward.

My back slammed against Wei Zhi’s chest. His scorching body heat and rapid, forceful heartbeat pulsed through my nurse’s uniform, making it feel as if we were fused together.

The heat was so intense I nearly screamed, my face turning deathly pale in an instant.

Wei Zhi wasn’t pretending anymore. He was dropping the act and moving in for the kill…

For a high-level powerhouse like him, killing an NPC like me was no different from crushing an ant.

Driven by a desperate survival instinct, I tremblingly handed Wei Zhi a pink Little Rubber Band, my voice thick with tears. “Mr. Wei, this is for you. Please don’t kill me. I’ll tell you everything I know about the clues to clear this level.”

[Nurse’s Hair Tie: A hair tie often used by a beautiful but incredibly ditzy nurse. When worn on any part of the body, it increases strength by 20%.]

Wei Zhi smiled meaningfully. “Good stuff.”

He released me, looking as if he hadn’t quite had his fill, and tucked the Little Rubber Band away. “Spill the clues.”

Having narrowly escaped death, I slumped to the floor, hanging my head as I muttered, “There’s an exit door in the Morgue.”

Hearing this, a mocking smile curled onto Wei Zhi’s lips.

His sharp eyes bored into me as if he could see right through my guilty conscience. He spoke lazily, “Alright then. Lead the way, Nurse.”

My heart skipped a beat.

I couldn’t go there!

I was lying to him. The Morgue was a dead end-if I went, I’d die!

I feigned composure and backed away step by step. “No, I… I still have to give injections to the other patients.”

I backed up until there was nowhere left to go, my back hitting a cold, hard chest.

A man’s large hand clamped onto my waist from behind, pinning me firmly against him. His voice was cold and laced with warning. “Lead the way.”

Help! I was actually going to cry.

When did another person get into this hospital room?

How did I not hear a single sound…?

Wei Zhi clicked his tongue and impatiently lifted his eyelids to look at the man behind me. “Xie Zheng, don’t scare her too much.”

The man behind me gave a dissatisfied grunt, and the grip of the arm pinning me loosened slightly.

But it still hurt!

I gnashed my teeth in hatred, my mind racing as I plotted to lure these two bastards into the Morgue and let the monsters kill them.

“Lead the way, please, Nurse.”

Wei Zhi stood up and walked over to me.

His towering figure, nearly 1.9 meters tall, completely overshadowed me. He and Xie Zheng stood one in front and one behind, sandwiching me in the middle.

Ugh…

Now I really didn’t have a choice.

Wei Zhi was on my left, Xie Zheng on my right.

The two men-one hot, one cold-squeezed me between them.

My nose was filled with the faint scent of blood, and my body was stiff with terror.

With a ding, the elevator doors opened.

The entire second basement level revealed itself as the Morgue.

Looking at the rows of bodies covered in white sheets under the eerie lighting, I swallowed hard. My voice trembled slightly under the extreme tension.

“Gentlemen… we’re at the Morgue. The clue to leave the dungeon is inside. Can I go now?”

Hearing this, Wei Zhi crossed his arms and looked down at me disdainfully. “Nurse, are you sure there are no traps in the Morgue?”

My heart hammered against my ribs, and I shook my head frantically. “The Morgue is full of corpses! There won’t be any danger!”

The more I spoke, the more guilty I felt.

This was a horror game dungeon. How could the Morgue possibly be safe?

Wei Zhi’s smile widened.

Xie Zheng remained silent, his dark, somber eyes fixed on me, betraying no emotion.

Just when I thought my lie had been exposed, the two of them exchanged a glance and stepped out of the elevator into the gloomy Morgue without hesitation.

I hurriedly slammed the button to close the doors.

In the final second before the elevator doors shut, the corpses in the Morgue suddenly sat up. They tore through their white shrouds, screaming shrilly as they swarmed toward the two men like a hive of angry bees.

Wei Zhi looked back, a cold smirk playing on his thin lips. His voice was chillingly calm.

“See you tomorrow, Nurse.”
