Chapter 3

I pulled off something huge.

Right in front of a hall full of elders, right under the Sect Leader’s nose, armed with nothing but my determination to seek justice for my owner and a single Projection Stone, I dragged that hypocrite Third Senior Brother down from his high horse!

Third Senior Brother was punished with ten years of facing the wall at Reflection Cliff!

This was enough for me to brag about for the rest of my life-no, for ten lifetimes!

Unfortunately, Senior Brother had no idea what an incredible thing I had done for him.

He lay in bed, still looking half-dead.

I was very happy, barking nonstop beside him, but he kept his eyes shut and pretended not to hear me.

Fine. If he wouldn’t talk, then so be it.

I paced around the bedside. The pillow and blanket I had made reek of pee that morning had already been replaced with fresh ones.

I glanced at the food. After that whole scene, the quality had gone from plain congee and pickles to an exquisite spread of eight dishes and one soup.

Much more lavish.

I stood up on my hind legs, braced my front paws on the edge of the bed, stretched my head out, and licked Senior Brother’s nose.

“Woof woof woof! Woof woof woof!”

“I’m super awesome! No one will bully you anymore!”

Of course-except for me!

Senior Brother kept ignoring me.

Then another brilliant idea popped into my head.

Since he was paralyzed right now, if I didn’t take revenge now, when would I?

Senior Brother used to flick me on the forehead all the time. Now it was finally my turn!

Hehehe!

With a light leap, I jumped onto the bed, curled up beside Senior Brother’s pillow, and closed my eyes. Before long, I deliberately started making snoring noises.

Then I pretended to dream, kicked out with my hind leg, and landed a perfect hit on Senior Brother’s face!

Senior Brother let out a muffled grunt, but didn’t do anything to me.

So I kicked again!

And again!

One plum-blossom paw print after another appeared on Senior Brother’s handsome face!

At last, he gritted his teeth and cursed, “You lousy dog, are you doing this on purpose?!”

I kept my eyes tightly shut, but I couldn’t hold back my laughter~

While Senior Brother was fuming, the Sect Leader arrived.

The Sect Leader’s long white hair fell loose over his shoulders, glowing faintly with a pearly light. His entire person looked like a banished immortal, untouched by the dust of the mortal world.

The moment he stepped into our shabby little courtyard, the whole place seemed to shine.

Senior Brother and I were both startled.

Senior Brother said awkwardly, “Please forgive me, Sect Leader. This disciple is unable to rise at the moment…”

The white-haired Sect Leader raised a hand to stop him. “No matter.”

“I’ve come to discuss a small matter with you.”

In just a few sentences, the Sect Leader explained what had happened in the main hall.

Senior Brother looked at me in astonishment. The tips of my ears shot up, and I lifted my head and puffed out my chest, so proud I could barely stand it.

“Then Sect Leader, your visit this time is…?”

The Sect Leader smiled and said, “I find this dog of yours rather interesting. I want to let it stay with me for a few days. If you get lonely, I’ll send someone to bring it back.”

Senior Brother immediately understood what the Sect Leader meant. He gave a bitter smile. “If the Sect Leader likes it, then as long as it’s willing, let it follow you.”

The Sect Leader was very pleased. He bent down with a smile and said to me, “Come with me. How about I open an account for you at the Spirit Beast Pavilion?”

A surprise from the heavens!!!

If I had an account at the Spirit Beast Pavilion, then I could buy whatever canned dog food, dog treats, and dog clothes I wanted by myself!!

Surely the Sect Leader wouldn’t be as stingy as Senior Brother, who only bought me one can of dog food a month!

And that wasn’t even the best part.

As long as I became the Sect Leader’s dog-

From now on, I could ride on Third Senior Brother’s neck and poop on him!

An image surfaced in my mind of Third Senior Brother seething with rage but not daring to say a word.

This doggy heart of mine was going wild!!

I wanted nothing more than to leap into the Sect Leader’s arms, but this dog was a coward, and this dog didn’t dare.

So I flopped down at the Sect Leader’s feet, rolling around beside him and exposing my belly.

Pet me! Hurry up and pet me!

Please pet me!!

The Sect Leader chuckled and bent down to stroke the fur on my belly. His fingers were long and slender, as fair as jade, and they felt very nice against me.

The Sect Leader was very satisfied. The Sect Leader was going to take me away.

Before leaving, I glanced back at Senior Brother.

The last glimmer of light in his eyes had gone out.

Senior Brother had been let down too many times in this life. Abandoned by the sect on a sickbed, had his engagement destroyed by Junior Sister, and now even his dog was leaving him behind.

My heart twisted with grief. I shot him a resentful glare. Damn you, old villain, making me miss out!

“Hm?”

The Sect Leader looked at me in surprise.

Because I was crouched by the threshold, head lowered stubbornly, refusing to leave.

The Sect Leader understood what I meant. He sighed.

“Good dog.”

He gently patted my head. Then he straightened, took a single step, and transformed into a streak of silvery-white light, vanishing into the distance.

Senior Brother’s mocking voice came from behind me.

“Regretting it now? Too late. You can’t catch up anymore!”

“Woof woof woof! Woof woof woof!”

I started arguing loudly with him. Then suddenly, I felt the top of my head itch. It itched so badly that I kept raising my front paw to scratch at it.

After about the time it took to drink a cup of tea, the itching finally stopped.

I lowered my head and looked at my reflection by the pond.

Hair had grown on my head!

I was finally not a bald dog anymore!!
