Survival Guide After Accidentally Kissing a Demon - Chapter 105
Chapter 105
With so many tents, which one belonged to that guy?
Beili obviously couldn’t just grab a sentry and ask. If word spread through the camp the next day that the eldest daughter of the Constance Family was having a midnight tryst with the mysterious second prince, she would be in serious trouble.
After all, every Noble in Sainthos was gathered here, and she still needed to live under the identity of Bartholomew Constance for a long time.
Something flashed through her mind.
Beili suddenly remembered that she had previously marked Ashera with a Tracking Ladybug.
Her red eyes glimmered slightly as she raised her wrist and pulled the remaining ladybugs out of her Spatial Bracelet. There were three left, representing Ashera, Cyril, and Clarence respectively.
She placed them on her fingernail.
The three red ladybugs with black spots seemed to activate; their tiny antennae and six legs began to move in small increments. Then, one spread its wings and flew off her nail, hovering in the air toward a specific cluster of tents.
This was likely the ladybug representing Clarence. Since Ashera and Cyril were members of the Royal Family, their tents would be situated together.
Thus, Beili returned the flying ladybug to her Spatial Bracelet and turned to walk in the other direction.
A moment later.
She watched as the two remaining ladybugs flew toward opposite sides, hovering in the air before two identical tents separated by several meters. Even the guards outside both tents were the same-clutching wine bottles and nodding off.
Beili put away the two Tracking Ladybugs and used her Beast Transformation to turn into a butterfly. She planned to fly into one at random to check it out, but she was quickly repelled by a defensive magic barrier.
She tumbled onto the grass.
The butterfly with shimmering blue-green wings transformed back into human form in the blink of an eye. As she scrambled up, clutching her forehead in a bit of a mess, a guard who had sensed the magical fluctuation opened his eyes and shouted slurredly:
“This is His Highness Prince Cyril’s tent… no entry… without permission!”
“Right, I get it…” Beili said sheepishly, rubbing her forehead.
As soon as the words left her mouth, she looked up and realized the guard had already drifted back into a hazy slumber.
“…”
Beili turned and walked toward the other tent.
The guard at the entrance was hugging a wine bottle. Even as she drew near, he remained motionless, as if his soul had been sealed.
Not wanting to be blasted back again, Beili cautiously reached out and touched the tent curtain with her fingertips. The curtain moved slightly at her touch; there was no trace of defensive magic.
Only then did Beili breathe a sigh of relief. She lifted the curtain and stepped inside.
The interior of the tent was pitch black. It was actually brighter outside than it was in here.
She raised her hand to summon one of her Morpho Butterflies to fly by her side, its blue-green glow slightly dispelling the darkness. In the dim light, she saw a bed. A figure in black robes wearing a silver mask was sitting on the edge of the bed, waiting quietly.
Beili raised a hand to her lips and gave a light cough, forcing herself to stay calm. She spoke to him in a natural tone. “Ashera, I’m here to absorb Mana.”
“Okay…”
The silver mask tilted slightly as he reached out a hand toward her.
“I… have been waiting for you.”
*Absorb Mana, absorb Mana, absorb Mana.*
Beili repeated the phrase to herself three times in her head. Taking a soft breath, she walked toward him with feigned composure.
Then, she sat down beside him.
The youth turned toward her again. His black-gloved fingertips gently brushed against the reddened bump on her forehead.
Under the blue-green light emitted by the Morpho Butterfly, the silver mask revealed cold, hard lines and curves, with half of it blurred into the shadows. Beili silently recited ‘absorb Mana’ three more times before reaching out both hands to gently remove the mask from its edges.
Beneath the mask, the youth’s face was still the familiar one she knew. He looked much better than the gaunt, haggard version she had seen back on the Holy Island.
The sunken lines of his cheeks smoothed out, though his complexion remained as pale as paper. His entire face now exuded a gloomy, shattered elegance.
Beili set the cold mask aside and swallowed against her dry throat. Trying her best to keep her voice steady, she asked, “So, you can absorb mana just by… by me kissing you, right?”
The corner of the youth’s mouth quirked up, almost imperceptibly.
He let out a soft, affirmative “Mm.”
Having received a definitive answer, Beili didn’t dally. She placed her hands on the boy’s shoulders, applying a slight pressure to pull him closer. Then, tilting her head back, she gently pressed her lips against his cold ones.
The kiss was as light as a night breeze rippling across a lake; her lips merely brushed against his. The boy’s eyelashes and the corners of his mouth trembled. He wrapped his arms around her back, pulling her even closer.
Beili’s eyes widened involuntarily.
The sensation against her lips grew increasingly frigid. Beneath her palms, his chest expanded in the blink of an eye. A long lock of silver hair fell against her neck.
The boy she had been kissing had transformed into a man with twisted goat horns growing from his head.
…
When their lips finally parted, a faint smile still lingered on Ashera’s face.
He suddenly spoke. “I’ve thought of the terms for our cooperation, my dear Little Butterfly.”
“…What?” Beili asked, trying to steady her breathing.
“Help me collect a debt.”
The corner of his mouth hooked up. He continued to hold her quite naturally, as if he were cradling a cat.
“What?”
Beili still didn’t understand.
Ashera lowered his head, his hollow golden eyes ‘looking’ at her. His voice was husky and deep. “A long time ago, three people borrowed three things from me and never returned them. They eventually died, and those three things passed down to their sons. My dear Little Butterfly, help me get them back.”
…
If a Demon couldn’t get them back, how could she? Besides, he was being incredibly vague. What to take, from whom, and how-he hadn’t mentioned any of it.
Feeling dazed and lost, Beili didn’t know where to start, so she simply asked, “Then… what do you want me to do?”
The curve of Ashera’s lips deepened, his tone laced with amusement. “No rush. We’ll take it one step at a time. For every task you complete, I will give you a gift.”
A gift…
Beili instinctively recoiled the moment she heard the word ‘gift’ from Ashera’s mouth. She sucked in a breath, her brows furrowing.
Ashera let out a soft chuckle. He reached up, the pad of his finger smoothing out the frown between her brows.
Then.
“Listen closely. The first thing you need to do…”
His thin, cool lips exhaled a frigid breath against her ear. Ashera whispered a few words.
Beili’s jewel-like, deep red eyes widened, her pupils shrinking to pinpoints. She felt her heart skip a beat. Before her brain could even process it, her body reacted with instinctive rejection.
She reflexively raised her hands and shoved Ashera away with all her might, then stood up abruptly.
She stood there rigidly, staring down at him with a dark expression.
On the other side, Ashera didn’t get up after being pushed away. He lay lazily on the wooden couch covered in black and red blankets, his silver hair, which seemed to gather starlight, spreading out around him.
Amusement danced in his eyes and at the corners of his brows. The curve of his lips was blatant, and his Adam’s apple bobbed as he let out a low, muffled chuckle.
“What’s wrong? You don’t want to cooperate?” he asked, his tone long and slow.
“I…”
Upon hearing his question, Beili instantly regained her senses. Her only desire now was to vanish into the ground and escape. Forcing herself to remain calm, she said, “Fine. We have a deal.”
“I will help you…” She paused, then added stiffly, “Help you… win Susanna’s heart.”
