Chapter 106

She fell silent for a few seconds before speaking honestly. “But there’s something I should tell you in advance: Susanna already has someone she likes. You know him-it’s Cyril Elvis.”

Ashera nodded nonchalantly, the smile on his lips deepening. “Thank you for the thoughtful reminder, but my mind hasn’t changed.”

Beili nodded expressionlessly. “Fine,” she said, her voice devoid of emotion. “It’s getting late, and I’ve received my Mana. I’m heading back to the tent.”

Without waiting for Ashera’s reply, she turned and left.

***

After the girl departed, the silver-haired man let out a low chuckle.

“Did you feel that?”

His thin, cold lips parted again as he murmured to himself, “It’s anger, but not entirely.”

“But… why does her anger make me feel so happy?”

A layer of black mist drifted from the man’s body, and his appearance gradually shifted within the haze, reverting back to the pale, gloomy, and broken-looking youth.

The boy curled his lips without a word, picked up the cold silver mask, and placed it back over his face.

After finishing her discussion about the cooperation with Ashera, Beili walked away from his tent with brisk steps. She moved with such haste she was practically sprinting toward the Constance Family’s tent.

She didn’t know what was wrong with her.

Tonight, she had absorbed more Mana than she had in a long time.

The cooperation with Ashera was also settled.

She would help him retrieve three items, and the first step toward that goal was to make Susanna fall for him.

He wasn’t asking for her soul, nor was he demanding she kidnap some innocent passerby for him to feast upon.

She only needed to act as a matchmaker and help him raise Susanna’s favorability.

Yet, she couldn’t bring herself to be happy.

She even felt an uncontrollable sense of irritation.

Beili came to a sudden halt.

This was far from normal.

She sighed repeatedly in her heart. Perhaps she should stop, count from one, and calm down.

At that thought, Beili immediately tilted her head back and closed her eyes, attempting to count silently.

This was her usual method.

However, this time, it didn’t seem to work.

***

A night breeze blew.

The cold, silver moon drifted behind thick, dark clouds.

The image of the silver-haired man with golden eyes kept surfacing in her mind-specifically, his smirk.

Beili opened her eyes huffily and had no choice but to start counting out loud from one.

She walked as she recited the numbers.

By the time she neared the Constance Family’s tent, she had reached forty.

At almost that exact moment, her foot suddenly kicked something.

The object tumbled forward and struck a rock hidden in the grass, letting out a *clatter*-a sound both dull and crisp.

It sounded like metal hitting stone.

Beili looked down, walked a few steps forward, and crouched to search.

Soon, she picked up a goblet used for serving wine from the grass.

It was a silver cup.

Intricate patterns were engraved on its surface, and a ring of diamond-shaped gems was neatly inlaid around its waist. There was even a bit of wine left inside.

*What a bunch of extravagant people…*

To just throw such an exquisite wine cup on the ground like trash.

Just then, the thick black clouds drifted away, and the cold moonlight descended once more.

Beili held the goblet in her hand, sighing inwardly as she walked.

In the next second, two familiar figures appeared in her field of vision, locked in an intimate embrace.

Beili couldn’t help but squint her red eyes, tilting her head to get a better look.

Buried within the pink hair was a shock of soft, lustrous black hair.

On the other side, as if sensing her gaze, the person looked up.

Beneath the messy black hair, Beili saw a pair of eyes as deep as amethysts.

Then, she saw a familiar, delicate face.

The bridge of his high nose and the area beneath his eyes were flushed with a drunken red.

Cyril’s purple eyes stared fixedly at her.

Then he glanced at the person in his arms, and a wave of shock gradually surged in his eyes.

As if only just realizing the situation, he abruptly pushed her away.

His purple eyes were filled with panic and nervousness.

He opened his mouth, his cold voice trembling slightly as he said, “You… we…”
