Chapter 114

She was simply resisting, or rather, escaping.

A moment later, Beili drifted off into a daze and fell asleep.

She even had a dream.

…

In the dream.

She followed Lady Constance’s suggestion, stepped out of the tent, and arrived at the lawn where the bonfire banquet was being held.

The place was packed with people.

The boy in the black robe and mask did as she wished, taking the hand of the Pink-haired Girl in White Dress.

Under the reflection of the firelight, the pink strands of hair were dyed a striking shade of orange-red, and the layered gauze of her white skirt rippled into a beautiful arc as she spun.

The two of them danced one song after another by the bonfire.

Finally, they embraced.

Beili stood in the crowd, watching them.

As if losing focus, her red eyes gradually blurred, and even the surrounding chatter and laughter turned into a fuzzy hum.

She didn’t snap out of it until the laughter turned into screams.

Then, within her field of vision.

Before the massive, flickering bonfire.

The boy’s hand plunged into the girl’s chest, forcefully ripping out her heart.

…

It was pitch black inside the tent.

When Beili jolted awake from her nightmare, it was still the middle of the night.

She heard nothing but silence; the noise outside the tent had died down as well.

The bonfire banquet was over.

She thought sluggishly, and just as she tried to turn over, she suddenly realized her entire body felt as if it had turned to stone. She couldn’t even move a finger.

Sleep paralysis… again?

It had been a long time since she’d experienced sleep paralysis. The last time was back in the attic room at Holy Island Academy.

Drip…

Drip…

Drip…

Beili could faintly hear what sounded like water dripping onto the ground, a sound that felt jarringly out of place in the silent tent.

Then came light, slow footsteps.

Someone was in her tent, pacing back and forth slowly.

Every now and then, they let out a short, faint, muffled chuckle.

Aside from that, she heard the subtle sounds of tearing, chewing, and swallowing.

It was this familiar sound of feeding that made her notice-a thick scent of blood was permeating the tent, saturating the air.

…

Beili remained silent for a few seconds, trying to speak, but she couldn’t make a sound.

Exerting hidden strength, she struggled for a moment before squeezing a trembling, dream-like groan from her nose.

“…”

The footsteps stopped at the sound of her voice.

Then came the urgent sounds of that person, as if they were hurrying to finish eating whatever was in their hands in large gulps.

The faint dripping sound became like a wine glass being overturned, the wine flowing down the corner of a table.

Only after the final swallow did the footsteps resume, approaching her direction.

Someone lifted the covers and climbed in, bringing with them a cold, bloody scent.

The person pulled her into an embrace and buried their face in the warmth of her neck.

Beili clearly felt the person draped over her suddenly grow in stature.

Long hair spilled out, falling over her.

He breathed contentedly against the crook of her neck, his nose filled with the scent she radiated.

A tremor of fear mingled with the intoxicating fragrance that belonged only to her.

Then, the slight protrusion of her pulsing jugular was gently licked by a cold, damp sensation.

Her brain stopped functioning.

“Did the fear help you remember… that you forgot something important?”

The person let out a low, muffled laugh, then tilted his face up slightly and whispered:

“Did you forget… or was it… intentional?”

Cold breath brushed against her neck, carrying a heavy scent of blood and a biting chill.

The coldness he released wound around her like a freezing snake. Beili felt like her heart was about to leap out of her chest.

She tried to struggle and flee, but while her brain frantically issued commands, her limbs were completely out of her control.

Beili forced herself to calm down, recalling the feeling of receiving Mana for the first time. Gradually, she sensed a thick layer of black mist covering her body.

Beili’s lips twitched, wanting to say something, but the other party did not leave her any time to speak.
His lips, carrying the trace of melting ice, moved from the side of her neck, slowly tracing upward along her rapidly beating pulse.

From her jawline to her cheek.

Then from the corner of her lips to the inside of her teeth.

He was kissing her.

One of his icy hands rested on her head, his broad palm easily covering the crown, while the other hand cupped her cheek, his thumb lifting her chin.

He was incredibly patient, repeatedly teasing that lifeless warmth behind her teeth.

It was a one-sided kiss without any response, yet he continued for a long time.

He even seemed addicted to it.

It wasn’t until a low groan escaped involuntarily from his rolling Adam’s apple that he felt the urge for a response.

Then, his cold fingertips gently brushed over her lips, which had turned red from the kiss.

At the same time.

Beili felt the layer of black mist covering her body lighten slightly. The sensation of the nightmare eased a fraction, but only a fraction.

She still couldn’t open her eyes and could only struggle to squeeze a few words through her teeth.

“Who… did you kill…”

She asked, her heart trembling with fear.

“Hmm?”

His hollow golden eyes glanced precisely at the corpses lying in the middle of the tent.

“Just a few insignificant people.”

“Let me go… don’t…”

She spoke with great difficulty.

Before she could finish, a cold finger was placed gently against her lips, signaling her to stop talking.

Simultaneously, the layer of black mist covering her grew heavy once more, rendering her unable to utter another word.

“As I thought, this is better.”

He let out a low chuckle, his hand on her head gently stroking her forehead with tender movements.

“This is enough.”

He sighed softly, sounding satisfied.

Then, his cold lips descended again.

Pressed against her lips, he immersed himself in the one-sided kiss.

…

If you’re going to kiss me, then give me the Mana!

No kissing without transferring Mana!

No kissing without transferring Mana!

That was exactly what she had wanted to say just now!

She screamed helplessly in her heart, feeling so angry she thought she might have a stroke.

Just as Beili tried to mobilize the Mana in her body to break through the black mist Ashera had placed on her-a mist as heavy and suffocating as a coffin-the man holding and kissing her suddenly let out a groan and pulled her tightly into his arms.

It was as if a box of desire had been forced open, yet he had no idea how to vent it.

He only wanted to press her into his own skin and flesh, to merge her with his very marrow.

He even wanted to eat her.

He even wanted to kill…

…

Beili felt like her ribs were about to be snapped by Ashera’s grip.

Perhaps she would have to find Susanna’s tent later and shake her awake to help set her ribs back in place.

Just as Beili was entertaining this miserable thought, the person clutching her suddenly pushed her away with force.

The nightmare sensation, the icy temperature, and the thick scent of blood vanished in an instant.

Her body tumbled to the edge, nearly falling off the bed, but she regained her senses just in time to steady herself.

Beili opened her eyes and sat up, her chest heaving as she looked toward where Ashera had been with lingering fear.

She summoned a Morpho Butterfly, its blue-green light dispelling the darkness.

Beili looked around carefully and realized this was Ashera’s tent, not her own.

Aside from the corpses strewn across the center of the tent, the place was empty; there was no sign of Ashera.

Beili stepped off the bed barefoot and walked out of the tent, both annoyed and confused, intending to return to her own quarters.

As she passed the mangled corpses whose hearts had been hollowed out, she suddenly recognized a few familiar faces.

Oh, they had shared afternoon tea together once, and it had been a rather unpleasant experience.

The three girls from the Bird Family: Mia, Sophie, and Julia. If she remembered correctly, those were their names.

“Why did you come down? You know I would have sent you back.”

As Beili was staring at the corpses, she was picked up by a figure that appeared suddenly behind her.

“Why did you kill them?” Beili asked, pointing at the bodies.
