Chapter 133

The young girl’s tone was as tactful as possible, hoping he would simply brush her off with a random excuse.

“I am a vampire. It is exactly as Miss Bartholomew says… I do not age, and I do not die.”

Doctor Cassius offered a faint smile, admitting the truth without contradiction.

“I once grew weary of such long stretches of time. I could only believe that everyone’s life has an end, and that mine simply hadn’t arrived yet.”

He looked at her with a gentle gaze and said, “But now, I am glad that I have lived in this world long enough to meet the person I wanted to see.”

“…”

He wasn’t even trying to make an excuse anymore.

His cover was completely blown.

Hearing Doctor Cassius’s words, Beili froze in place, her limbs stiffening as a wave of shock hit her.

Her lips parted slightly, and for a moment, she didn’t know what to say.

But… why would Doctor Cassius reveal his hidden identity to her?

Could it be that this vampire second male lead also wanted her help to grind Susanna’s favorability?

At that thought, Beili looked up and stole a glance at the man in front of her.

The blonde-haired, blue-eyed man was currently watching her with a tender gaze, seemingly waiting for her response-whether it be acceptance or rejection.

The girl frowned slightly.

Upon meeting his eyes, her ruby-red, jewel-like gaze darted away, her eyes wandering restlessly around the surroundings.

As things stood, she couldn’t possibly help two supporting male leads grind the female lead’s favorability at the same time…

Ashera’s side was already difficult enough to handle, so it was better to decline politely.

Flowers of various colors swayed like waves in the gentle breeze, emitting a faint fragrance.

Neatly arranged stone coffins lay quietly amidst this sea of flowers.

“Don’t feel pressured, Miss Bartholomew.”

Reading the rejection on her face, Doctor Cassius sighed, his smile fading considerably.

“You can begin absorbing power now,” he reminded her.

…

Absorbing power.

Right, Cassius’s purpose in bringing her here was for her to absorb the Death Mana of those resting here…

But was it appropriate?

After all, the people in the stone coffins were his lovers… friends!

“Doctor Cassius, is it really alright for me to absorb the Mana they’re emitting?” she asked, her tone uncertain.

Doctor Cassius gave a slight nod.

Then, as if to say, ‘Don’t be formal, make yourself at home,’ he sat down with his back against one of the stone coffins. He took a book out of a spatial tool and flipped it open, falling silent.

The light in his eyes seemed to have dimmed a little.

…

Beili stood there, twisting her fingers. After a moment of thought, she decided to accept Doctor Cassius’s kindness candidly.

She had just sensed the stone coffins and felt an abundance of Death Mana, far more than what was in the imperial capital’s cemetery.

“Doctor Cassius, thank you for bringing me here.”

Beili thanked him with a sweet smile.

However, Doctor Cassius merely nodded again, still not speaking.

In fact… the book he was holding and looking at was upside down.

…

Beili noticed this but silently looked away, choosing not to point it out.

…At worst, the next time he wanted to grind Susanna’s favorability, she definitely wouldn’t stand in his way.

Beili made a secret vow to herself.

Then, she took the Black Bone Scythe pendant from her necklace and walked between the neatly arranged stone coffins, preparing to absorb the Death Mana that burned like black flames atop them.

Doctor Cassius, who had just flipped his book the right way up, suddenly looked up.

Perhaps to break the stagnant atmosphere, he blinked his emerald-green eyes and asked gently, “Miss Bartholomew, why use this scythe to absorb Mana? Could you do it yourself without a weapon?”
“Of course.”

Beili’s shoulders stiffened for a moment. She squeezed the Little Scythe in her hand and explained to him, “It’s just that using the Black Bone Scythe to absorb Mana is faster than if I were to do it myself.”

Following her words, the small Black Bone Scythe pendant in her hand emitted a faint black mist. In the next second, it grew massive.

Wisps of thick black fog swirled around it, and a dark, cold glint flickered along the blade.

Beili issued a command to the scythe in her mind. The Black Bone Scythe slowly floated above the stone coffin, and the Death Mana, flickering like burning black flames, began to drift toward it.

With the Black Bone Scythe handling the Mana absorption, the young girl clapped her hands together, feeling relieved. She sat down next to Doctor Cassius and spoke in a lighthearted tone.

“At its current speed, we might even make it back to the house in the Imperial City for dinner before dark once it’s finished absorbing.”

As if something had crossed his mind, Doctor Cassius’s smile faded slightly.

Suddenly, he said, “It’s alright. No need to rush. We can’t leave this place for the time being.”

The smile on Beili’s face froze. She asked in confusion, “Did something happen? Why do you say we can’t leave?”

Doctor Cassius closed his book, a look of apology appearing on his handsome, gentle face.

“When I first constructed this Magic Space, I wasn’t very familiar with spatial magic. I must have accidentally set some kind of magical restriction inside. Every time I enter this space, I have to stay for at least half a day before I can leave,” he explained.

So this Magic Space he created in his early years… has a bug?

He really needs to fix this bug soon…

Beili: “Doctor Cassius, that’s really…”

She forced a wry smile, momentarily at a loss for words.

The apology on Doctor Cassius’s face deepened. “I forgot about this matter. I’ve caused Miss Bartholomew some distress.”

Actually, her urgency to leave was mainly because of the Information Broker in the Flea Nest.

If the Information Broker who took her gold was lucky enough to survive that bloody massacre, then he would bring her news tomorrow at the latest, as agreed.

If it was only half a day, then by the time they got out, the night would have just ended and the sun would be rising.

It didn’t seem like it would cause much of a delay.

She glanced at him, a smile playing on her lips. “It’s fine. Let’s just wait here then.”

Since they couldn’t leave, they had no choice but to wait in the Magic Space.

However, the issue of dinner needed to be addressed.

She had been in such a hurry to leave after waking up at noon that she had only eaten a piece of bread on the carriage to fill her stomach. Now, she was starting to feel hungry.

On the other side.

Seeing the girl press her hand against her stomach, as if he had anticipated this situation long ago, Doctor Cassius pulled out a thick blanket from a spatial tool and spread it on the ground.

Next, he produced a picnic basket containing sandwiches, some fruit, and snacks.

“Miss Bartholomew, come and eat. These were prepared before we left.”

Doctor Cassius opened the basket, took out a sandwich, and handed it to Beili. He then took out a bottle of thick liquid that looked like tomato juice from his spatial tool, opened the cap, and began to drink.

Beili took a bite of the sandwich, which was filled with tender fried beef. She chewed while watching Doctor Cassius drink his ‘red tomato juice.’

Then, she noticed a smear of thick red liquid on the corner of his mouth.

Her red eyes blinked in surprise. Beili immediately lowered her head, pulled out a handkerchief, and handed it to him. She pointed to the corner of her own mouth with a faint smile, signaling for him to wipe it off.

However, Doctor Cassius turned his emerald eyes toward her and watched her quietly for a few seconds, seemingly not understanding her meaning.

Beili pointed to the corner of his mouth again. “Right here…”

The blonde, green-eyed man lightly licked his lower lip, still not understanding what she meant.
