Survival Guide After Accidentally Kissing a Demon - Chapter 182
Chapter 182
With that thought in mind, Beili prepared to throw off her covers, get out of bed, and find Lady Constance to see if she could contact Doctor Cassius.
Doctor Cassius usually traveled in a very secretive and low-key manner; even the Palace Knights found it difficult to track his whereabouts.
However, from what Beili had observed, the doctor was very close to the Constance Family.
Lady Constance could even reach him through a Communication Sphere.
Just as she pulled the covers back, she pulled them back over herself again.
Beili remembered that Lady Constance should have finished her relaxing bath by now and would be resting.
It would be better to bring it up tomorrow after she woke up.
For now, she needed to think about how to write a letter to Cyril.
Writing a letter-
Beili threw off the covers again and set the Black Lamb aside, ignoring the dissatisfied “baaa” it let out behind her.
She walked over to the desk, sat down, and took out a smooth, clean sheet of stationery.
Using the most tactful words and phrases she could muster, she crafted the most tactful sentences of her life to compose a subtle letter of suggestion.
‘Honorable Prince Cyril…’
She wrote that she had recently been hearing rumors regarding their Childhood Betrothal and that she was troubled by them.
After all, the other party in these rumors was the noble Prince Cyril, the light and pride of Sainthos, a man born nearly perfect into this world-whether it was his noble bloodline, his extraordinary comprehension of magic, or…
After ensuring that the praise took up eighty percent of the page, Beili finally wrote at the end:
Such rumors were truly terrifying, and the reputations of both parties would suffer because of them, especially His Highness’s.
Such things should be stopped.
‘Furthermore, we both…’
Beili’s quill paused there.
She had originally intended to write ‘Furthermore, we both have people we like,’ but then she thought of Cyril’s final dream.
Perhaps.
Before this, her view of Cyril had been a bit too influenced by preconceived notions.
A butterfly appearing in the world of a book, with just a gentle flap of its wings, could turn into a hurricane.
The entire direction of the story had become messy because of it.
What she was experiencing now was already disconnected from the plot of the Original Book.
Cyril and Susanna were two independent individuals; she shouldn’t force them together.
After a long moment, she changed her phrasing.
‘Furthermore, neither of us wishes to be bound by this engagement.’
‘If Your Highness could step forward to put an end to these rumors before they spread further, it would be for the best.’
‘Offering my most sincere blessings.’
‘Bartholomew Constance.’
Beili stopped her pen and reread the letter, feeling quite satisfied.
It both hinted at her lack of interest in the engagement and was filled with enough praise that her lack of interest wouldn’t offend the noble Prince.
It truly was the best of both worlds.
And so, she blew on the ink to dry it, folded the letter into an envelope, and tucked it into her Spatial Bracelet before turning back toward the bed.
At that moment.
The Black Lamb was lying on the covers, its golden eyes quietly ‘watching’ her.
The entire sheep looked incredibly resentful.
“Alright, we can sleep now.”
Beili let out a soft laugh. After extinguishing the Fluorite Lamp in the room, she crawled back under the covers and reached out to pull the lamb into her arms.
She closed her eyes.
…
The next day.
As the morning sunlight spilled into the room, Beili woke up.
She put on a dark gray puff-sleeve dress.
A servant smoothed her hair with a comb, then took a few small strands and braided them, tying them with small, subtly shimmering gray satin bows.
When she left her room and arrived at the dining room, Madam Constance was already at her seat eating breakfast. Beili bid her good morning and had just sat down, taking only a few bites with her utensils, when someone from the palace arrived.
In front of Madam Constance, the young girl handed the letter to the messenger.
“Oh, someone from the palace.”
After the person left, Madam Constance immediately couldn’t suppress her gossiping heart and asked, “That’s a letter for Prince Cyril, right? Luoluo, what did you write to His Highness?”
The girl blinked her red eyes slightly, her face expressionless. As she ate her breakfast, she replied casually, “Nothing much, just a simple letter of greeting.”
Madam Constance giggled, a mysterious expression on her face as she quietly revealed something to her.
“A Noble told me yesterday-that photo of you and the Second Prince kissing in Rose Town was clarified because Prince Cyril ordered the Royal Post to use an entire page in the new issue for the report. Luoluo, doesn’t that feel like a wonderful surprise?”
Beili lowered her head to take a small sip of her oatmeal and said softly, “Not really.”
Madam Constance laughed and sighed. “Luoluo really does like the Second Prince more, after all. Mother understands.”
Beili lowered her head and took a large mouthful of oatmeal, pretending she hadn’t heard her.
As the meal was nearing its end, she remembered to ask Madam Constance for help in contacting Doctor Cassius.
“Why the sudden interest in Doctor Cassius?”
Madam Constance arched an eyebrow, looking somewhat surprised.
“The last time I took Doctor Cassius to the Flea Nest, I put him through such a terrible environment.”
She made up a random excuse and said seriously, “The more I think back on it, the more I feel it was rude of me. So, I’ve decided to meet with Doctor Cassius and bring a gift to express my apologies.”
Madam Constance smiled and shook her head.
“It’s fine, dear. Doctor Cassius was just a little helpless; I could tell from his tone that he didn’t take it to heart at all.”
The girl continued, “Mother, please just help me contact Doctor Cassius.”
“Of course. I’ll help you contact Doctor Cassius as soon as I return to Butterfly Valley.”
Madam Constance patted her head.
After breakfast, Madam Constance took the carriage back to Butterfly Valley first.
Beili did not go back with her.
She had to wait at the house for the people from the Tailor Shop to come for her measurements.
And, of course, there was that most famous designer in Sainthos whom Madam Constance had mentioned-the designer whose name Beili couldn’t remember at all-who needed to see her in person before designing a custom Evening Gown for her.
Not long after Madam Constance’s carriage left, the people from the Tailor Shop arrived.
During the measuring process, an Old Lady with graying hair circled her three times. She even came over to pull at her eyelids, check her teeth, and pinch her fingers.
The Old Lady observed her while rapidly drawing something in a notebook.
Beili leaned in to take a look, but the Old Lady immediately snapped the notebook shut.
Beili: “…”
Faced with the Old Lady’s “strangers keep away” expression, Beili tactfully stopped being curious.
Once the people from the Tailor Shop had escorted the Old Lady away, Beili took Ashera with her. Following the locations on the map, the two of them transformed into a butterfly and black mist, flying toward the Flea Nest and the Rat Hole of the capital to collect Mana.
