Chapter 183

Of course.

Beili didn’t actually enter those houses. She only needed to land on the roofs and take off the Black Bone Scythe, letting it absorb the Mana in her stead.

She had originally intended to absorb this Mana for Ashera, but rather than waiting to be fed, a certain sheep preferred to pick out his own food.

After all, a certain sheep was a bit of a picky eater.

If there were only inferior creatures left on the table, he still had to pick out those with heavy sinful Mana from among them.

Those who weren’t evil enough weren’t even qualified to be part of his menu, provided they didn’t take the initiative to provoke him.

By the time Beili noticed the situation, the black mist had already transformed back into his Youth Form. He returned to the roof and hugged her affectionately, his lips stained with a trace of crimson blood.

“…”

Looking at it from another perspective, Ashera was actually a scavenger for Sainthos-it was just that his method of cleaning was a bit more brutal.

She silently hypnotized herself with this thought.

…

The two of them wandered through several Flea Nests and Rat Holes, essentially sweeping through the major gathering points for the criminal population of Sainthos before returning to their residence in the imperial city.

Ashera had very consciously undergone Beast Transformation, turning back into his Black Lamb form.

Beili took out a handkerchief and wiped the blood from its mouth.

Thinking about the letter she had sent out that morning, Beili specifically asked a servant, “Did anyone from the palace come by while I was away?”

By the time they finished absorbing Mana and returned to the imperial city residence, it was already afternoon.

The sunlight slanted down, tinged with a touch of orange-red.

“No one from the palace has visited, Miss Bartholomew,” the servant answered truthfully.

No one had come.

Half a day was enough time for Cyril to read the letter, write a reply, and send someone to deliver it.

Therefore, Cyril was not going to reply.

Beili nodded slightly. Holding the Black Lamb in her arms, she boarded the carriage back to Constance Castle in Butterfly Valley.

…

Inside the carriage.

Perhaps it was because they had visited several Flea Nests and been tainted by the atmosphere inside.

Not long after the carriage started moving, the Black Lamb shifted back into his Youth Form. He hugged the girl clingily, bringing his pale, gloomy face close to her lips.

He was demanding a kiss.

His elegantly curved silver hair curled slightly, covering the ends of his brows and cheekbones.

A pair of hollow, lifeless golden eyes drew close to her vision. His cold, thin lips stopped a finger’s width away from hers, moving no further.

His icy hands held hers.

“Can you… k-kiss me?” the youth asked softly and bluntly.

“No. Not right now.”

At the thought of how this guy always started whimpering and moaning mid-kiss, Beili looked at the lattice windows of the carriage-which offered absolutely no soundproofing-and decisively rejected him.

“Why?” The youth’s voice turned aggrieved, his handsome brows drooping slightly. “Why… c-can’t I kiss you?”

“It’s not that you can’t… wait until we get back.”

Beili chose not to look at him, turning her head to the side and pretending to look at the scenery outside the window.

“Are you starting to h-hate m-me…”

A chill began to seep from the youth’s body, and the surrounding temperature started to drop.

“You aren’t even… even willing to give me one kiss.”

Water vapor condensed into droplets, mixed with bits of ice, and fell with a pitter-patter.

They landed on her hand.

Beili: …

Beili was completely helpless against this sheep. She had no choice but to turn her face back and gently press a kiss onto those thin, cold lips.

After a moment.

The youth grabbed her shoulders and pinned her against the carriage wall, his cold aura invading and sweeping over her.

His golden eyes closed gently, his Adam’s apple bobbed, and he looked as if he were about to start moaning uncontrollably.
Beili quietly reached up and grasped his throat, her fingertips resting against his bobbing Adam’s apple. She turned her face slightly away and whispered a reminder:

“No humming.”

The youth let out a faint “mm” in response.

The corners of his thin lips curled upward, and his eyelashes trembled slightly.

Rather than looking aggrieved, his expression seemed even more… pleased.

He straightened the girl’s face and kissed her again, his cold hands sliding down the curves of her neck, shoulders, and arms before finally interlocking with her fingers.

…

Seeing Ashera’s delighted state, Beili suddenly remembered the matter of the contract she had noted in her book yesterday.

And so, she continued to kiss the boy.

While he was in a daze, their lips parted.

“Ashera, will you sign another contract with me?”

She asked softly in his ear.

The curve of the youth’s lips deepened. His half-closed golden eyes opened, growing a shade darker.

“Okay.”

He agreed without a moment’s hesitation.

His tone carried a hint of a smile, full of indulgence and obedience.

Beili hadn’t even told him the contents of the contract yet, and he had already agreed.

As expected, he was easiest to talk to when he was dazed from kissing.

Beili’s lips quirked into a smile as she continued to probe in his ear:

“Then… what if I want you to get my permission before you commit any slaughter?”

The youth’s eyelashes curved slightly as he repeated himself:

“Okay.”

Seeing him agree so readily made Beili a bit uncertain.

“Then I’m going to write the contract just like that?”

She gazed into those lowered golden eyes, confirming, “I’m really writing it. This is a contract, not just a verbal promise. It must be fulfilled.”

As Beili spoke, she lightly flicked her fingers, summoning several Morpho Butterflies.

Following her command, two of the butterflies carried out a sheet of yellowed parchment, while another two controlled a quill.

According to her plan, Beili quickly revised the contract’s contents.

Only then did the youth, with the corners of his mouth still curled, suddenly ask in a weak voice:

“Then what about my re… reward?”

“Reward? What kind of reward do you want?”

Beili was slightly taken aback and asked in confusion.

“Every time… be… before a slaughter… I ful… fulfill the contract…”

The smile on the youth’s lips spread.

“You must in… initiate a kiss with me once… and you can’t… can’t stop until I… say so.”

Beili: …

Here he goes again.

Making far-from-weak demands in such a weak tone.

Before she could say anything, the youth leaned in again.

As if afraid she would take back the contract, his cold lips lightly kissed her cheek. In a somewhat wheedling tone, he asked:

“Is that okay?”

Beili let out a helpless sigh.

For the sake of Sainthos’s survival.

“Okay.”

And so, the two of them signed the new contract.

Though she didn’t know how effective it would be, it at least put Beili’s mind at ease for the time being.

…

They returned to the castle in Butterfly Valley.

As soon as Beili entered the door, Madam Constance brought her some bad news.

“Luoluo, Mama can’t get in touch with Doctor Cassius Alfredo at all.”

The woman spoke with some concern.

Madam Constance didn’t think Doctor Cassius was hiding on purpose; rather, she was worried that he might be sick with no one to look after him.

“Doctors can heal others, but they often can’t heal themselves.”

The woman sighed softly.
