Chapter 225

The King of Nauze had many children.

As for exactly how many, perhaps even the King himself didn’t know.

Beili was only surprised by the King’s attitude toward his offspring.

To him, the younger princesses and Princes were like dolls. They could be brought out to accompany him during meals, and if he wasn’t full, the little princesses and Princes had to keep eating-no wonder the children of Nauze were all rather round.

To him, the older princesses and Princes were like loyal guards.

After all, from what she had learned in Sainthos, conceiving a baby and successfully giving birth to a healthy child was a stroke of luck for any Noble couple in Sainthos.

Forget the baby eating until they were stuffed or vomiting; even if the baby threw up and then flipped the dining table, the parents would only give a thumbs up and praise how handsome the table-flipping posture was.

“I, of course, hope that Brother can stay in the Nauze Kingdom.”

The King of Nauze’s voice pulled her thoughts back.

“Brother, whatever you want, the Nauze Kingdom has it. Whatever Sainthos can give you, the Nauze Kingdom has as well-and more.”

His aged face turned toward the youth across the long table, the King of Nauze’s eyes burning with fervor as he spoke with pointed intent.

Beili turned her head to look at the youth.

Ashera was still looking at her.

“This… do you want it?”

The youth raised his hand, his pale fingers pointing at the cheese soufflé closest to him.

“His Majesty the King of Nauze is speaking to you…” Beili reminded him in a low voice.

“Wh-what did he say?”

“He’s inviting you to stay in Nauze, to stay in the palace,” Beili explained.

The youth’s eyelashes lifted slightly, a hint of dazed confusion surfacing on his face.

Beili: …

This person really wasn’t listening at all.

She wasn’t worried about what would happen if Ashera stayed in Nauze-this guy was a walking disaster no matter which kingdom he went to.

“There is no rush to answer. You can stay in the palace for now.”

As he spoke, the King of Nauze set down his knife and fork.

His bloated hand picked up a pristine white napkin from the table.

The princesses and Princes on both sides of the long table also stopped using their utensils and picked up their napkins to wipe the corners of their mouths.

…

The sound of light footsteps echoed.

A familiar figure appeared in the dining room, carrying a tray.

Once the figure drew closer, Beili saw clearly that the tray held two fresh, rosy apples.

“Father, these are the daily apples sent by the Forbidden Fruit Lord,” Princess Theresa said.

“That…” Beili was slightly stunned, murmuring under her breath.

Across the distance of the long table, she sensed a distinct sinful Mana emanating from the apples, as if they were condensed directly from Mana itself.

The Forbidden Fruit Lord.

It was the Forbidden Fruit Lord again.

Beili could almost be certain that the second item Ashera was looking for was with this Forbidden Fruit Lord.

She had to prevent Ashera from coming into contact with this person.

However, the Black Bone Scythe was also in the area where the Forbidden Fruit Lord was active…

She had to find a way to get it back-even though the Black Bone Scythe wasn’t very obedient, it was indeed useful for collecting Mana.

Across the long dining table, the King naturally picked up one apple, while the remaining one was given to a certain Concubine.

…

The youth was a bit clingy toward her.

The King of Nauze had probably noticed this as well.

So, after the two of them agreed to stay in the palace for a night, they were arranged to rest in two adjacent rooms.

Sleeping separately.

Of course, sleeping separately.

They weren’t married, nor were they engaged, and one of them had been brought here entirely by force.

Sleeping separately was only natural.

Beili was very satisfied with this arrangement, especially after the experience of the previous night.
So when it came time to sleep that night, she pushed the youth into his room, tossed out a “see you tomorrow,” and turned to head next door.

Moonlight spilled through the window into the spacious, ornate room, blooming into a hazy, clear glow.

In the silence.

The youth stood behind the door for a moment, then walked over to the bed and sat down, quietly waiting for dawn.

When the moon reached its zenith.

A series of faint, frantic footsteps appeared in the youth’s room.

In the quiet of the night.

Several young women slowly walked in, stepping through the moonlight.

Their toenails were meticulously painted a vivid red.

Their thin, sheer robes fluttered slightly with every step.

Beneath the robes were hazy, graceful silhouettes.

The youth had experienced scenes like this back in Sainthos.

If this were Sainthos, he would have gouged out their eyes and hearts.

But not now.

Before the slaughter, he had to ask her first.

…

Seeing that he was not yet asleep, the young women enthusiastically crowded around him.

However, a second before their reaching hands could touch him, they were repelled by an invisible force.

That force dispersed instantly, sending the others flying as well, slamming them into walls, pillars, and tables.

Some cried out in pain; others seemed to have fainted already.

The youth looked at the messy room, thought for a moment, then got up and left.

…

Beili was half-asleep when she suddenly felt someone crawl into her blankets.

That person pulled her into an embrace.

Awakened by the sudden movement, Beili opened her eyes warily.

Only after seeing that the Morpho Butterflies perched on the bed remained still did she notice the youth burying his face in her chest.

“What’s wrong…” she asked sleepily.

“Many, many people came to my… my place… I was worried they were here with you, too… so I came, came to check.”

Beili didn’t quite understand, but she glanced around the dim, empty room.

“As you can see, there’s no one here. You can go back now,” she said with a shrug, her eyes bleary with sleep.

The youth intentionally avoided the topic, holding her tighter. His cold lips were almost mouthing her earlobe as he asked into her ear:

“What… what did you do… today?”

“Today…”

Beili yawned and answered his question. “I went to pick out my ‘heartbeat guests.'”

After they had eaten their fill at the restaurant, Beili had been led away by Princess Theresa, leaving the youth and the King to continue their conversation. She heard the King had even taken him to see the treasury and let him take his pick.

By the time this news reached Beili, Princess Theresa was pointing at a crowd of Princes in the garden, telling her she could take her pick as well.

In the darkness.

The youth lifted his head, his golden eyes watching her. Then he tilted his head slightly, clearly not understanding what she meant.

Beili thought for a moment and explained it another way:

“It means that in the garden, the Princes of Nauze stood in a row, and I could choose one of them to be my ideal date and enjoy a delicious afternoon tea with me.”

The youth understood.

His aura turned cold instantly.

“Then did you… did you choose?” he asked, his cold hand gripping her wrist.

Beili shook her head.

The chill emanating from the youth dissipated slightly, though only a little.

Then, Beili added, “Because I spent ages looking and couldn’t pick a suitable one, when it was time for tea, I just had all the Princes join me.”

“…”

Seeing the girl chuckle, the youth’s eyelashes trembled. He fell silent for a few seconds, then pressed his body down again to embrace her.

He quietly swallowed his frustration alone.
