Chapter 286

“Doctor Cassius!”

Beili recognized Doctor Cassius’s voice.

She lifted her head and looked toward where it had come from.

Only then did she realize Doctor Cassius had already used Beast Transformation to turn into a bat, circling above her.

“Doctor Cassius.”

When she spoke, there was a trace of helplessness in her voice.

“I think I really am sick.”

The bat landed on her shoulder, and a man’s gentle voice came from within it.

“Use Beast Transformation, then get some sleep. You don’t need to worry about anything else.”

By the time Doctor Cassius said that, Beili had already fled all the way out over the sea while dodging one magical attack after another.

Following his guidance, Beili used Beast Transformation to turn into a butterfly and put away the Black Bone Scythe as well.

After Beili turned into a butterfly, Cassius, in bat form, gently caught her wings in his claws and flew toward Holy Island Academy.

…

When they arrived, several Mages were already waiting on the beach by the sea.

Aside from the Mages, Lance, Renee, Cyril, and Susanna were there as well.

The Mages came from Sainthos, Nauze, and Tilisha respectively.

The Mages from Tilisha were mainly there to protect Prince Lance and Princess Renee, the royal siblings of Tilisha.

As for the Mages from the other two kingdoms, each had their own agenda.

Cassius flew back and transformed into human form as he landed.

Everyone’s eyes immediately fell on his hand, where he was gently holding a butterfly.

The butterfly did not move.

“I will take Bartholomew away.”

The Mages from the two kingdoms immediately stepped forward and spoke in unison.

The Mages of Sainthos glanced at the Mage from Nauze Kingdom and reminded him in a stern tone, “Miss Bartholomew is a Noble of Sainthos. Naturally, I should be the one to take her away. You are a Mage of Nauze Kingdom. Wouldn’t it be inappropriate for you to take Miss Bartholomew with you?”

The Mage from Nauze Kingdom looked at the butterfly in Cassius’s hand. His lips moved as if he wanted to speak, but he hesitated. A hint of unwillingness showed in his eyes, as though he was still trying to come up with a suitable excuse.

“Why take her away?”

Doctor Cassius had already put on a surprised expression. He raised his brows slightly and asked in confusion, “Miss Bartholomew doesn’t seem to have done anything wrong.”

The Mage from Tilisha immediately said in dissatisfaction, “Bartholomew just attempted to harm Prince Lance-and you as well, Your Highness. Many people saw it and heard it.”

Renee stepped forward as well, declaring aggressively, “That’s right! He’s telling the truth!”

Then Lance pulled her back again.

“Is that so?”

Doctor Cassius smiled and turned to the red-haired, black-eyed young man, asking gently, “Prince Lance, as the person involved, you should have the most say in this. If there has been a misunderstanding, please come forward and explain it now.”

“Of course-”

Lance immediately stepped forward. With his right hand over his heart, he said in the most sincere tone, “Please don’t misunderstand. Nothing like that happened. Miss Bartholomew was only a little drunk and fooling around with us. I believe she absolutely had no intention of harming me or Renee.”

Then the young man’s tone changed. He turned back and glared at Princess Renee, somewhat angry, before continuing, “On the contrary, it was Renee who almost hurt Miss Bartholomew just now. She nearly pushed Miss Bartholomew down the stone steps. I must apologize for that.”

The moment Lance finished speaking, a brief silence fell over the scene.
Renee stared at her brother in disbelief, her cheeks puffing up with anger. With a heavy huff, she planted her hands on her hips and turned away, showing everyone her back.

The Mages from the three kingdoms frowned, apparently not very satisfied with Prince Lance’s explanation.

Doctor Cassius nodded slightly, still cradling the butterfly in his hands with the utmost care, as if it were the most precious treasure in the world.

The crash of the waves carried a cool sea breeze over them, stirring the hems of their clothes and the strands of their hair.

The Mages of Sainthos still seemed about to say something when Cyril, standing off to the side, spoke in an icy voice.

“I order you to go back where you came from.”

The Mages of Sainthos hesitated. They had only managed to say, “But,” when they lifted their eyes and met the boy’s purple gaze beneath his soft, glossy black bangs. Those eyes radiated a bone-deep chill.

“Do I need to repeat myself?” the boy asked.

The words he spat out were like icicles in winter.

It was a tone that allowed no refusal.

In Sainthos, who didn’t know that Prince Cyril had always had a terrible temper?

In fact, against Prince Cyril, even his father, King Cumberland, seemed amiable and kind.

After being fixed with Cyril’s cold stare, the Mages of Sainthos thought of his future status as Crown Prince, as well as the King of Santos’s increasingly frail health.

They could only obey the order and leave, unwilling as they were.

After the Mages of Sainthos departed, the Mage from Tilisha also left under Prince Lance’s command.

The Mage from the Nauze Kingdom was the last to go, leaving with obvious reluctance.

In the end, the few people who remained looked at one another.

“Then I’ll take Miss Bartholomew with me,” Cassius said naturally.

Lance hurriedly said, “I’ll do it. After I send Luoluo back, I still need to apologize to her. Renee needs to apologize too.”

Behind Lance, the young girl’s eyebrows shot up in fury. She gave another heavy huff and muttered, “I’m not apologizing!”

“Renee-”

Cyril glanced at Lance and said coldly, “I’ll take her back.”

Lance immediately shot back, “Why?”

At that question, the corner of Cyril’s lips curved ever so slightly.

“Because she is my fiancée.”

Susanna’s expression dimmed a little.

Lance choked.

His narrow fox-like eyes lifted defiantly, and his voice rose at once. “But Luoluo doesn’t want to be your fiancée at all. Don’t think I don’t know that, Cyril-”

“Everyone-”

Doctor Cassius looked at the two boys bickering and offered a gentlemanly smile.

He reminded them, “Miss Bartholomew cannot return to her dormitory for the time being.”

The two boys fell silent and turned to look at him at the same time.

Still wearing that gentlemanly smile, he continued, “You should have noticed Miss Bartholomew’s unusual condition during this period as well.”

At the mention of her unusual condition, both boys quieted down.

Complicated expressions appeared on their faces almost in unison.

Lance frowned, worry surfacing in eyes darker than the night.

Cyril’s expression also turned grave. Even his usually cold purple eyes now held a trace of thoughtfulness.

Doctor Cassius looked at them gently and calmly, then said, “I suggest we first place Miss Bartholomew in the infirmary and observe her for a while, so we can determine the cause of this condition.”

That was all they could do.

In the end, everyone nodded.
